I wanted to replace a TAG/Heuer that had been stolen. I priced them at home so I'd have a frame of reference. I found the prices in St Thomas, Cayman, and Aruba to be no more than $50 cheaper. Not worth it for a $1000 watch.

We visited Screws as part of a tour. It stopped there, at Titou Gorge and somewhere else. We just left our stuff in the van. I don't think you'd have to worry about things being pilfered there even if you had to carry your belongings with you. The guys running the place seemed very nice. I'm sure they, and the fierce looking pit bull, would protect your stuff while you enjoyed the spa!

How long of a walk is it from Front St in Phillipsburg to the pier area? I need to stop in town on my way back from the beach and wonder is walking back is doable or if I need to get a cab.

It's a good deal on beer. Beats the buy 4 get 1 free special that they run.

La Casa del Habanos is the only place I'll buy premium Cuban cigars in Mexico or the Caribbean. It's my understanding that they are the State owned cigar retailer and have locations all over.
I'm curious to see if the new administration reverses this policy.

I had quite the opposite experience. I spent a few hours just moseying about Roseau. It is my favorite city in the Caribbean because no one seemed to have any interest in me as a tourist. There were very few places selling tourist trinkets. I thought it was a very vibrant and interesting commercial hub. A totally different scale and pace than NY or Miami but a really culturally rich town. I chatted with locals, had a bite of curried goat, took a couple hundred pictures and bought a bottle of Havana Club rum for half the price they were getting in Aruba. I was a fifty something white guy, all by myself and never once felt threatened or unsafe.

The people running the place would watch your stuff. You could certainly keep it with you if it were a backpack or small bag.

I like Dominica because it's not geared toward catering entirely to tourists. There are some spectacular sights to be found. A little research would have told you that the Botanical Gardens are among them.

I don't think you'd need a shuttle. The center of town is right there. Can't be more than 2 blocks.

Other than stores and things of commercial interest there's not a whole lot of historical interest in Oranjestadt that I'm aware of. Maybe a Foder's or similar guidebook would have something.
I've moseyed around there and didn't see a whole lot that caught my eye. They do have that streetcar that runs back and forth. I rode it a couple of years ago and was underwhelmed.

Going to Orient Beach for the day in Feb. Which bar would you recommend as a good deal for chair/umbrella rentals, good prices on drinks, etc? In the past we've just gotten dropped wherever the driver chose. One place was really reasonable and others have been more expensive.

Last February the Retreat pool on the Regal was not heated.
-
Quick word of warning-
On the Royal, on sea days, the pool area can be very, very windy. Though in the heat, this can be refreshing.
Same thing on the Regal. The presence of flags flying on the mast made it seem even more windy. We saw lots of hats go flying up there. It is a nice spot with its own bar an 100% kid free.

We have ATT service which gives the same service as at home in the USVI and PR. Check with your carrier to see if you're covered there. At one time, Verizon was in international roaming in those localities.

Of all the islands in the Caribbean, Barbados would be my pick to rent a car in. Though narrow by US standards, the roads are in great shape and are generally well marked.
We rented a moke there once and had a blast.

We were directly above Princess Live on the Regal and heard no noise whatsoever.

How much is cab fare from Port Everglades to the Airport in Ft Lauderdale? Trying to compare to a shuttle.
Thanks!

We got stuck in one of those with the Pullman berths last year. They are a major pain. They made getting in and out of bed a headache, literally sometimes!
We have a sideways cabin this year for the first time. I'm anxious to see if it's really roomier!

The best deal on beer is the buy 1 @ regular price, get the 2nd for $1. I think that happens twice a day and is listed in the Patter.
I'm okay with the beer on board. I'm not a craft beer fan. I prefer my beer made in giant factories by skilled Union workmen, not by bearded hipsters in an abandoned warehouse.

One the last CC group slot pull I was part of we selected a WoF machine. It paid off. Everyone put $21 in and we ended up with $26. I think I've seen them in about every cruise I've been on.

They're just regular coin laundry style top loading machines and the dryers are front loaders.

We've rented a jeep twice from Avis right at the cruise terminal. No hassles and it's super easy to find your way around. We saw everything we wanted and we're free to spend as much or as little time as we wanted.
Orient Beach bar recommendation

There are always plenty of taxis. They hang out behind the bars in the parking areas.
