Thank you again for your comments -

to those who we will never know who helped, the ladies at the airport to called the police, the Swiss police who restrained the guy until the Spanish police turned up, the lady in the hotel who gave us an upgrade when she heard our story, the waiter in the restaurant who gave us free shots… the kindness of strangers. God bless you.

The Consulate have processed our Emergency Travel docs (£100pp if you ever need one!) and we can collect at 11am tomorrow. Booked on the first possible flight after that outta here!

This little shindig will cost close to £2000 once we have added up hotel/ flight/ emergency travel docs/ new passports/ new glasses for me/ new sunglasses for DH/ meals/ excess parking fines… 🤞insurance pays up.

And to the Albanian low life scum thieves.
    Karma bites back

It is good too see others rise to your bad situation.  Karma will call on those Albanians one day.

It was a very busy week for us here. I hosted a baby ‘sprinkle’ for middle DD Jessica on Saturday. I’d never heard the term but it’s a small, intimate baby shower given when someone is having a second or subsequent baby.  Cristina and her family from PA came up for the weekend and we all went out to dinner after the sprinkle. Sunday morning we had everyone here for Cinco de Mayo brunch.
So with all that, I’ve been reading along just haven’t had time to comment much.
@Luckynana Happy Belated Birthday to your twin daughters.
@A&L_Ont Happy Belated Birthday to Owen.
@Sea Dog glad to see it looks like your trip is working out great.

Thank-you everyone for the Owen Birthday wishes.  He had a great day yesterday.

I got Shringrix when I was about 58 and I'm now 64.  From what I've read, there may be a booster as new data comes out as the protection lasts 7-10 years.   I haven't seen anything that says you can't get the vaccine again later.  I reacted to both shots with lethargy and a sore arm.  I felt like I had the flu for 24 hours with each shot.

My arm is a bit sore today but I’m active and about doing things.

I’ll take this discomfort compared to what people with shingles go through.

    Does this help?

I was down to my last $20 - actually $17.90 according to the picture - when Heidi replenished my gambling funds. I forgot to take an "after" picture when she was done be "stunned" but it was several hundred dollars. Enough to keep me going thru the night & into the next day until I could redistribute my wealth to other various slot machines.

    Adding another Heidi fan @A&L_Ont

Today marks 43 years since my Dad died at the age of 61.  He was a Foreman working on the 2nd Avenue Subway project when he fell down 25 feet, head first.  He was a very healthy, strong man who never smoked in his life.  He remained in a coma for a week before finally passing, which was a Blessing, due to his extensive injuries.

So sorry to read this about your dad.

Most likely not the greatest place to ask this question but has anyone ever taken a Rick Steves  Tour?

We are looking to take  Best of Europe in 21 Days Tour in the fall of 2025

     https://www.ricksteves.com/tours/europe/europe-21-days#tour-dates

The tour groups are small, 24 to 28 people which I think would make it nice.

We have canceled our side by side cruises we had planned for this May to Europe and Norway Fjords Cruises.

Just though for traveling that far to Europe we wanted to see and do more then we could ever do on cruise stops.

Granted this wouldn't get us to Norway, but at a later time we might do a cruise up that way in the future.

Anyone here ever taken one of their tours?

Lisa always founds his show to be boring, but I loved them. I think your philosophy is correct in doing a land tour VS cruises and going to Norway separately.

Yet folks who post on these boards justify every cutback by RCI because of the shutdown and debt while management takes care of itself.

    I hear you.

Maybe the increase is their portion of the tip pooling.😉😂

So... Andrew, After the game, did you guys go out for lunch? 😉  I swear, I'm not judging 😉

BTW Great pics of food and all the other awesome sites I've never seen before.

    Thanks for bringing us along.

    dp

I'd like to think that they still do it, but if you are ever in Toronto see about taking tours of Scotia Bank Arena and Rogers Centre. We did them with a friend who visited from Alberta and he loved it.  You get to see behind the scenes and in the arena we got to go into the home and away change rooms for hockey and basket ball. Since baseball was in season we didn't get that extra part of the tour fro Sky Dome.

  9. Jays lost, and as it turns out the Leafs did too. That said we had a good time at both events.

Lisa started in the row behind us and the isle back. After the second period Glen the usher told Lisa to join us.

Owen and I only had beverages but Lisa had a proper prime rib sandwich. I might have had half and the some of the chips.

During TV timeouts Sampsonov the starting goalie would come to the bench for some water and meditation.

At the end of the game Mitch Marner gave Owen his stick, which scored the only goal for Toronto. It brought about a lots of conversations with random folks on the walk back to the hotel. The drunks were the best. LOL

  10. How about some baseball food porn. We didn’t have one of every item but we probably had more than half of the items.

Between the items below pop corn, peanuts and a couple hot dogs were consumed. Lisa only had the items noted below.

Owen started with the Oreo snack.  Yes that’s an oversized spoon.

     IMG_5019.thumb.jpeg.03ac07230ac58d271456d3cfa65533df.jpeg

    I had the lobster roll.

Owen also had the chicken fingers

    IMG_5026.thumb.jpeg.7ec404c57cea54739868ba18c431c8bb.jpeg

and poutine too. Lisa had one as well.

    IMG_5028.thumb.jpeg.8f5fe78ca5f3077fe045eed194350e01.jpeg

I had the brisket and Mac n cheese. Could have been better.

  11. Before any more time passes I better finish off our weekend of sports review.

At our seats they had a menu and jelly snacks waiting for us. The seats are amazingly comfy and also have phone charger ports below the table top. You can see it in the row behind ours.

Much nicer than the washrooms for the masses.

Hi CC friends!  It has been a rough 10 days.  As some already know from that other site that shall remain nameless, I lost my dear father very unexpectedly on April 18th.  He was in good health up to the very end and would have been 88 this August.  I returned home today after a week down in North Carolina, where he lived, to help my sister take care of all the "things".  My sister moved down there from NJ last summer.  While I am still a little bit in shock that he is gone (my mother died in 2014), I am so thankful he was living life to the fullest up to the very end and we were all together the first weekend of April for a fun filled time.  My father had moved into a lovely independent living community in the fall of 2022 so he had downsized quite a bit which was very helpful this past week as were emptying his apartment.  I also urge everyone to have all their important papers organized in a file for your loved ones, should anything happen unexpectedly as did for us.  Even though we knew where all the "stuff" was he still had little post it notes all over his desk of passwords for his computer.  😃  We will be having a Celebration of Life in the summer down in NC for him.

We are so sorry to read about your loss. Hugs from our home to yours. ❤️
