Is it really acceptable to treat single travellers like this?
Pushkin replied to iandjm's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If you try once you board, it seems like they would only charge you for one person. Please let us know. -
Would a 16-year-old enjoy the Celebrity Beyond on a holiday cruise?
Pushkin replied to Sigyn's topic in Celebrity Cruises
My DH and I sail Celebrity because we love the Celebrity experience. Our kids, later teens, have been on Celebrity several times and have always had a great time -- probably the most fun as teens. You just have to convince your son to go to the Teen Club the first night. I read that advice before our first cruise with kids, and it was dead on. My son still is in contact with kids he met on a cruise 10 years ago! I find that most teens just want to hang out with other teens. As a side note, we took the kids on a high school graduation cruise on Royal since we thought they would enjoy alll the "fun" stuff (slides, ice-skating, surfing, etc.) -- they did not use these activities once!! Go figure! -
We did a cruise from Ravenna last July. If taking the train, be aware that you have to change trains. It was stressful for us even though we had one bag each. The connecting station did not have an elevator, so it was two flights down and two flights up. Also, the second train was standing room only. I would fly into Venice for a few days and take the X transfer from Venice to Ravenna (possibly open jaw ticket to fly home from Bologna).

thank you - I will try that.

Yes, it does show my upgraded room - a balcony on deck 6. What I would like to do is move (move-up) to another balcony on a higher deck (maybe even a Concierge Cabin aft). When I go to the Move-up page and enter my name and reservation number, I just get a page that says my (prior) upgrade offer was accepted. Anyone know how to upgrade from an upgrade? Thanks

Thanks, but all it shows is that my bid from OV to Balcony was accepted. ?

I was just there 2 weeks ago. Massage was great! No sure what all prices are, but I paid $60 for a 45 minute deep tissue massage. They also had a Relaxation massage for the same price.

No - no food or drinks. Towels and everything outside.

Could have been - we were there the Tuesday after Hurricane Ian.

Does anyone know if you can just show up at RW and buy a day pass? Cost? Thanks
-
On our recent visit, $80 day pass got you access to the hotel/restaurants/bar, the pool, and the water toys on the beach (rafts, kayaks, etc.).

On our visit two weeks ago, there was was the expanded golf carts that took anyone form the ship to the edge of the port building, but there were also smaller golf carts that said Handicapped Only. It looked like they were going closer to the gate.

Another vote for the Pirate Museum. I was very surprised about how interesting it was!

We were just there a few weeks ago. Umbrella was $20 and chairs were $10 each. Drinks from beach staff were very expensive. We went over to Margaritaville bar for drinks and food. Water had quite a bit of seaweed in it, but we still enjoyed it.

I have reviewed this thread, but cannot find an answer to this question -- If a move-up bid is accepted more than 30 days out (from an Oceanview to a balcony), can you bid again, say for an Aqua class cabin?

Do 5-day Cruises have an 80's Night Party?
Pushkin replied to Pushkin's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Looks like it's a go! Thanks, everyone. -
We will be on a girls cruise on Oct. 1 and wondering if there will be an 80s party on our 5-night cruise. Is Carnival still doing 80s night parties? Thanks

We booked it ahead through our big box TA, but some people were in line who did not pre-book. Someone from RC (or the bus line) walked the line asking if people had tickets. For those who did. not, their names were taken and their onboard account was charged the $10 per person.

I just returned from 3 weeks in Italy/France. It was miserably hot - I never knew how much you could sweat until this trip! That being said, if it was the only time I could go, I would still go. Now if you have kids, that is a different issue. I can only imagine the whining and complaining about the heat and crowds! I would not do a trip in July with kids. Everything was open as far as I could tell. Every single day was beautiful (good for us, but France and Italy are experiencing drought conditions, so not good for them).

We would have booked the RC shuttle from Venice P. Roma if we had not already booked the train tickets. When we were making arrangements, the only RC shuttle was from Venice airport, and supposedly only for those who flew in that day. I think you made a good decision about the train. It was a lot of trouble for me (solo), and I only had one checked bag size suitcase.

As I mentioned, we decided to use the train instead of the private transfer, but I believe it was approx 360 euro and the company was mydaytrip.com.

As JPMorgan said, the Bologna station has elevators. It is a nice, large station with several levels. Just watch the connection times - it seems like they sometimes give you 8-10 minutes to get on the next train! If you download the Trenitalia app, I believe it will tell you what track/binario you will be arriving on, and what track your next train will be leaving from. Have a great trip!

RC provided shuttle buses from the Ravenna train station to the Ravenna port for $10 per person. I am not sure if Celebrity is doing the same. With respect to getting to Ravenna from Venice, we took the train which had one change in Ferrara. I do NOT recommend this way of getting to Ravenna from Venice. The Ferrara train station does not have elevators. You have to carry your suitcase(s) down 2 flights of stairs, and then back up. The time to change trains was short (about 8 - 10minutes). The train from Ferrara to Ravenna was packed with cruisers. We had to stand in the area between cars for the entire trip along with about 15 other people in a small space. It was very stressful. I do not recommend taking the train! (We had a private transfer from Venice booked, but we were there the weekend of the Festa di Redentore, and were told that a private transfer on the Sunday after the festival would be unreliable due to all the partying the night before.)
