    Hello everyone,

I'm planning to have Uber pick up from Port Everglades terminal 18 on returning trip.   Where is the Uber pick up area at that terminal?   Is it the same place as the taxis line up?   Also during that morning it's going to be crowded with passengers getting off/on the ships catching rides, when looking for my Uber ride,  do I walk around searching for the car and the license plate number?  This is my first time using Uber.

    Thanks

  2. Thank you everyone for your inputs.   The Tri-Rail option sounds interesting.  Probably from Miami Airport we'll take the Tri-Rail to Fort Lauderdale Airport.   Holiday Inn Express on SE 17TH street has free shuttle service to pick us up from the airport to the hotel. (Holiday Inn on Sheridan street as suggested is booked out for our dates). Next day take Uber to the port.  On the way back from the port,  take a taxi to the Tri-Rail station near Fort Lauderdale airport,  then take the Tri-Rail back to Miami airport.

Usually the taxi from the port to the FLL airport is around $15?   Since the Tri-Rail is close by,  do you think the rate would be the same ?

I would have fly into FLL instead of MIA,  but since MIA have flight schedules we wanted and the price is lower.

    Thanks

  3. Hello everyone,  I'm new to Uber and trying to find the most cost efficient way for our upcoming cruise vacation. We'll be flying into Miami International Airport (one day before the cruise),  our cruise is leaving from Port Everglades terminal 18.   We booked Holiday Inn Express in Fort Lauderdale S17th street.

I went on line at https://m.uber.com/looking  to get estimates.
We have 3 people therefore we choose the UberXL.

From Miami aiport to our hotel is: $92.67

From hotel to the cruise terminal is: $42.55

Does that sounds right to you?   Is Uber the most cost effiecient comparing to Taxis or shuttle transportation services?

Anyone has other recommendations please share.

Another alternative I was thinking renting a fullsize car through Budget total cost including tax is around $100; pick up at Miami airport and drop it of at Port Everglades (Port Everglades Midport Garage, 1850 Eller Dr, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316)  and take the free shuttle to terminal 18.

    Thanks

  4. Once crossed over the 140 points while on a cruise,  do they give the block to  you while on the cruise or RCL ship it to you after the cruise ?  I think onecruise is a special case where he got it while on the ship because he accumulate those points over more than 4 weeks on a ship.   I know points are accumulated about one week after the cruise.

    Thanks

I know there are a lots of threads on testing, but I don’t remember seeing any that answered this question.

We were tested today at a local family medical facility. (Yeah, negative results, phew!).   We received paperwork on the medical facility letterhead.  It has our names, dob, test date/time and persons that took the test and documented the test hand written.   The test results themselves (with all the misc details of the results from the computer) re also on the form.   I know Royal says no handwritten doctors notes.    Is this how you’re results come from CVS, Walgreens, etc..?   Would this be acceptable?  We got the email from the facility too, , but it’s just the same thing in an attachments.  Of course the email shows it’s from the medical office.

Has anyone boarded with official special test results but your details hand written on the form?

    are we good with this?

    thanx

    Erika

We printed out our results from CVS testing.  At the check-in,  they are most interested in looking at the word "Negative".   One person she overlooked could not find that word,  I have to pointed it out to her.   Make sure your test clearly shows the results.

  6. on my Independence cruise on 8/15,  they asked us to wear contact tracing bracelets even when we get off the ship on all ports.   Do contact tracing bracelets work on land ?   How exactly does it works?   I don't think it has a GPS in it.

The only thing annoying about the contact tracing bracelet is that for some reasons my DW bracelet have some issues several times during the cruise and each time they left message in our cabin ask her to go down to the customer service desk to re-register it.   They said her bracelet some how was un-registered with their system.   She wore it all the time,  follows the instructions and does not get it wet.   It's just waste of time on vacation to go down to customer service desk some time there are long line for her to re-register her bracelet.

I could see how the bartenders are not aware of the change. I read it somewhere but could not find it on RCI website. Thanks for clarifying the new perks. My DD will be happy since she will no longer be able to get mocktails from the DL without a voucher.

Here are some recommended non-alcholic drinks at the bar:

    Watermelon Mint Lemonade
Island Crush (ask for no Red Bull)
Island Fusion - (Pina Colada, Passion Fruit and Orange Juice)

Does anyone know if children get drink vouchers for soda or mocktails?

Our 16 years old daughter did get 4 drinks vouchers each day which she can get non-alcoholic drinks at any bars any speciality coffees including the frozen/blended ones at coffee shop.   She also gets one day of free wi-fi.    Upon arrival to our cabin on embarkation day,  she did received the letter in the cabin telling her about the benefits.   FYI,   some bartenders are not familiar with the voucher system with children.   When my daughter and I were at the bar which I went often,  they know me by name, cabin number and they know we are diamonds have drink vouchers.   My daughter ordered a non-alcoholic drink,   since they know me by name and room number they use my drink voucher instead of her own.   I have to ask them either scan her SeaPass card or charge it under her name  using her own voucher.

  9. I just got off Independence of the Seas August 15th sailing date.   I asked this question to the host at MTD entrance why I can not reserve before 7:00 pm and what time does MTD opens ?   He said that MTD opens as early as the traditional dinning time at 6:00pm,  the online reservation for MTD is for 7:00 pm and afterward.   Before that just come to MTD and it is first come first serves basis.

All CVS test results are sent to their MyChart app.

Thank you.   I just installed MyChart on my phone.    I have not gone to CVS to get tested yet.  Just want to be prepared.    Do I create an account on MyChart ahead of time or wait after get tested and they send the information or code to create the account ?    Thanks

  11. For those got the rapid test from CVS,   how did they delivered the results?    I heard from several that they call you.    Can they email you the results or send you a link that shows the results?      RCI requirement is to have a proof to show them either print out the result or show them the result on your phone when checkin.

    Thanks

  12. Our family are vaccinnated and still got that same email for our 8/15 sailing on the Independence.

On that email it said if you are vaccinated then you don't have the register for the test at the port.   I guess they send out that email to either everyone just in case or those family with children.

In any case vaccinated or not,  you still need to get the covid 19 test on your own  (either PCR or rapid test) 3 days before sailing.

If you're vaccinated, you don't have to complete this registration for yourself. However, you may have received this email because the guest below may need to undergo boarding day testing. Please share this information with them or complete it for them if they are your minor child.

  13. Hello everyone,

Independence of the Seas will do a Test Cruise on 8/11 few days before our cruise sailing on 8/15.    Does anyone know how test cruises work,  is it based on passing or failing?   Could that test cruise results in the cancellation or delay of the 8/15 sailing.   Independence has been docked in Galveston for the last month,  she should do the Test cruise at least  2 weeks before the start of first sailing date which is 8/15 in case something need to be "fixed" as the result of the test.
