  1. For our cruise in Nov. I have checked the hotels near the port and the rates are in my opinion crazy at over $200 for one night including taxes. With the cost for 7 nights of parking at the port being $120 I can understand some of it but really? I can stay in Titusville just off 95 for about $80, pay the parking fee AND have my car right at the port!

Am I seeing it wrong here?

Never can say what drives the hotel prices but as most I am sure it is supply and demand. Nothing wrong with your plan but to save a few dollars consider one of the off site lots for your car.

  2. I started a thread asking for hotel info. Several people recommend the Doubletree, but the prices I'm seeing are pretty steep. I don't want to pay for an upgrade get a "free" breakfast. I could go to McDonalds for significantly less!

I have enough points for a night at the Holiday Inn Express. I'll have a car, so I can get to shops and restaurants.

Trip Advisor reviews are pretty good. Has anyone stayed there recently?

It is across the street from the beach but not bad at all!

  3. OK, so would the Hilton Cocoa Beach be the best location? We also looked at the Hampton Inn and the Double Tree Suites. Looking for the best rooms and convienence and a Hilton property for points.

Thank you for your help, we will for sure change our return stay.

All 3 are nice and next door to each other. Use points if you can.

  4. I'll have a gazillion questions between now and November, but I like to plan ahead.

You guys were SO HELPFUL when I last cruised from Port C. I flew in early the morning before the cruise, rented a 1-way through Avis, got a great room at the Radisson (thanks for the upgrade!). It was all wonderful.

In November, I'm doing a B2B on Ecstasy. I may come down and stay 2 nights, but probably will just try to get an early flight, like before due to budget constraints. Plan on renting 1-way, again, so I'll be perusing the thread for the latest on good rental prices.

Considering the Ron Jon's. Price looks reasonable. In early November, I wouldn't expect a bunch of kids, but that will be a Friday night. I don't want to come down early, try for a relaxing pre-day&night before the cruise only to find the entire hotel, pool and beach swarming with screaming kids.

Nothing against them but that's not what I want on my vacation. My newlywed daughter, her new husband, and my cruise buddy are joining me for Leg 2. I'll also need to do some research for them when they arrive the next week.

In your opinion(s), would RonJon's be a good place for me to stay? I turn 60 on Leg 2, I like a couple of adult beverages in the evening, but mostly want to relax at the beach for a day and have some good food on Friday night.

This is all costing me a small fortune since I'm paying everything for DD, so I don't want to spend more than necessary for the hotel/car/etc, but don't want to stay in a dive, either. The Radisson was nice, but something on the beach would be great!

    Thanks!!!

RJ is ify. Nice property but may have the kids. Try LaQuinta oceanfront.

  5. I'm sorry if this has been covered, but we need a little help. We are flying into Melbourne and will be staying for 2 nights pre-cruise on the Monarch. We are holding a room at the Hilton Melbourne Beach location and the Hilton Cocoa Beach location.

    1. Which hotel/location is preferred or better?

    2. What is the best transportation from Melbourne airport to the Hilton Cocoa Beach if we choose this location? What would/should be the cost?

    3. After the cruise we chose the Hilton Melbourne for 1 night (non ocean location) so that we would be close to the airport for our flight out the next Saturday. What transportation is recommended from the port to the hotel?

    Thanks

Do a one way car rental both ways and stay in Cocoa Beach. This area is small and easy to navigate. Forget getting close to the airport for your return and have some fun on the beach.

  6. Hi. Coming in August the day before cruise. Using our Hilton points and trying to decide which hotel -- there are 3 that I beleive are near the cruise terminal -- Hampton Inn Cocoa Beach, Double Tree Cocoa Beach & Hilton Cocoa Beach. Have 2 kids and if weather is good, would like to use beach. Anyone know anything about any of these? Anyone recommend one over the other?

    Thanks!

All nice and pretty much the same.

  7. This is a great thread for Port Canaveral. Thanks for providing this information. Are you familiar with a parking facility called Inside Covered Parking of Port Canaveral (ICPOPC), located at 3095 Grissom Parkway? I found their website with a search of parking facilities but I can not find any other information about them, including reviews. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Sorry I am not. Maybe someone else is. I know of 2. One is the last exit before the port and the 2nd is at the Radisson hotel just after the port. About $6 a day.

  8. We stayed at the Four Points before our cruise in 2008 the only problem we had was our air conditioning didn't work for one night and the hotel was booked solid, so our room was pretty warm. They did do right by us though and didn't charge us for the room for that night. It was a nice hotel.

Congratulations Preston! This thread helped me so much when I was planning our cruise in 2008. Now I'm planning one for later this year out of Miami and wish there was a similar thread.

Thanks for the well wishes. She is a fantastic lady. I think there is a similar thread. Look for it.

  9. I don’t read much about the Four Points Sheraton. I stumbled into a great deal from the Sheraton operators using a small amount of existing points ( that would likely go to waste) and a small bit of cash. I’ve stayed in several properties in Cocoa beach (Doubletree, Hilton, Marriott Courtyard, Hampton, Radisson, La Quinta - Will I be disappointed in the Four Points. It is only one night pre cruise?

Thanks all – for all the terrific info I’ve gotten from this thread throughout the years.

    M

You will not be disappointed. Grab it.

  10. We are flying into Orlando Wed. night 5/23 arriving after midnight, where I hope to rent a car, stay in Cocoa Beach area, see Kennedy Space Center and drive down to Miami to sail Carnival Liberty on Sat. 5/26 Mapquest/google maps say 3 hrs 45 min. drive time. Ive seen posters say 5 plus hrs?? trying to figure whether to try the drive fri nite before and stay closer, or wait til Sat. Plus have to figure where to drop rental car and shuttle over to port. So far it seems only drop off is Miami airport. Is that close to port? Anyone else done it this way? Suggestions?? We are going to KSC that Friday and plan on staying til close. Might split the drive and stay in West Palm Beach area, if so, we also need the hotel in Cocoa Beach to allow for a late check out friday or some kind of day use as some of our party dont want to go to Space Center,...Thoughts? Also considering it's Memorial Day Weekend

    4 hours will do it.

  11. I just read another thread where the poster stated that it took an hour to return a rental car and take the rental shuttle back to the port. We will be boarding Freedom of the Seas in 9 days - yea! - and were planning on having my husband drop myself, the kids and the luggage at the port first, then he would return the car and take the shuttle back.

Does it really take an hour to do this? I'm trying to picture myself keeping three little kids corralled for that long when all they will want to do is check in and get onboard.

How much would a taxi cost to take just him - no luggage - back to the port and should he just do that instead of the shuttle? Thanks!

About $10 but it is usually much faster.

  12. I have been back and forth with ideas of where to stay when in the area for our Freedom of the Seas cruise next year. We aren't renting a car, and we are using VIP Limo for transportation. I am looking for a hotel that has a few eateries either on site or within walking distance. What are the best choices? We are considering staying in Port Canaveral as opposed to Cocoa Beach this time, although either would work.

Try LaQuinta oceanfront. It has it all!
