Preston best i can find for car big enough for luggage and 4 is 187 for one night ? Nothing cheaper by shuttle?
Sorry I do not use the shuttles. $187 is it a Limo? I see real big cars on Avis's lot or maybe a minivan.

Looking for shuttle service for 4 people from Melbourne airport to La Quinta on N Atlantic av. Renting a car seems awfull expensive. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for help
Cars are cheap here. Remember we have Avis, Hertz, Budget, Thrifty and Enterprise here in Cape Canaveral. You can just turn the car in and they will take you to the ship. Its a nice drive and you will have a car for dinner or groceries.

For what it is worth, you won't have to park the rental car for a week, you just rent it for part of a day and drop it off....typically no drop off charges in FL
I did not see that. Clay is correct. 2 one way rentals are easy and the cheapest for 2 or more people.

We are sailing out of Port Canaveral at the end of Febraury. I am researching transportation from the Orlando Airport to Cocoa Beach. We don't want to be bothered renting a car and paying for parking during the week we are gone.
Has anyone had any recent experience using Travelynx? I have a quote from Michael at executive lilmousine and would like something to compare to.
Travelynx is a big player here.

I'm searching for info on car rentals from MCO to Port Canaveral. We are arriving late in the evening and staying at the Marriot right near the airport. We planned to rent a car in the morning to make the drive to the port. Whats the cheapest way to go about this? It appears that Hertz has a rental office on the hotel property so that would probably be easiest, but I'm not certain. Does anyone have any info or can you direct me to a thread where I might find some answers?
Avis, Hertz, Budget, Enterprise, Dollar/Thrifty all have Cape Canaveral offices and will take you to/from the ship.

Hey everyone!
I know i've seen it in this massive thread but what seafood restaurant would you recommend in Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach?
In the midwest we just don't get that great of a selections.
We are mainly crab legs, shrimp, lobster, calamari, and cod type of people. The bigger the better and the sweeter the...oh you understand.:D
Thanks for your assistance
Kristy:)
Try Rustys in the port. They pile it on.

we are going to take our first cruise from NY to Bahamas next month. Will stop at Port Canaveral and thinking about renting a car and going to Disney during the stop.
but seems like all car rental places in Port Canaveral is closed by the time I return car. Is it possible for us to do a after-hour drop off?
How far away from car rental place to the port? Is it safe to walk from car rental back to port?
Thanks and your input here are deeply appreciated.
Avis I know has a box. I used it last week. It is several miles to the ship. Call a cab.

Thanks so much Preston- it has really been a toughie and hard to fathom, but this is life anyhow where have you been buddy?
Keep in touch for we need you here my friend
I have been good but busy with work and learning Spanish. I am planning to retire in Panama and have been spending all my free time in that direction. I even have found the love of my life there. A beautiful old fashioned lady and we plan to move to the mountains and buy a small coffee plantation. How is that for a life change?

Shirley it has been a while since I popped on this thread and was sorry to hear of your loss. May God be with your family.

By using your American Express card and BCD discount code S208200 you avoid having to pay a drop off fee.
This discount code is public and available to any American Express card holder.
$43.12 all in from Lake Buena Vista to Cape Canaveral for a class B compact in October 2011.
Interesting. I have only heard of Thrifty once in a while asking for a drop fee.

We are flying into FLL and renting a vehicle to Cape Canaveral. Some agencies don't show Cape Canaveral as the drop off point. The closest listing is Melbourne (airport, I presume). Is this still OK and will they drop us off to the cruise ship? And pick up again after the cruise.
Thanks for your help
Diane
Diane we have Avis, Hertz, Budget, Enterprise and Thrifty/Dollar here in CC and they will all take you to/from the ship.

5 months before my cruise and just doing a bit more planning for the night before.
we did Grills last December, it was okay; but where would be a good place to eat?-we are staying at the Comfort Inn Cocoa Beach--will not have a car.
Branos Italian is almost across the street and is very good.

Sorry...I haven't read through this whole post...but I really need some advice. We will be spending one day off the ship in Port Canaveral with 2 older teens. We have done Disney, Seaworld, and Universal prior to this trip. The kids maybe just want to spend the day at Cocoa Beach...but not sure how far it is...if there are taxis or shuttles...if there are chair or umbrella rentals??? This is not like me...I usually have everything planned months in advance, but I just can't quite find something that suits us all. And advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
I would take a taxi to Ron Jons surf shop. You will all ove it and it is on a good beach nead food and shops. About $15

Hi everyone.
We have just been doing a bit of research, trying to find the local beach that we feel will be right for us, and Cherie Down is looking real good to us.
One question that we cannot seem to find an answer to is 'What about parking?' The Google map satellite map seems to show a parking lot right there, am I right? If so, is there a parking fee or entrance fee to get in to the park, and if so, how much?
Parking is free and right there. It is not a huge lot and gets sort of full on the weekends.

The Country Inns and Suites in Cape Canaveral is offering a 48 hour sale with 25% off room rates. I do not have any further details but I just saved some money on our Oct. stay.
Thanks for the tip!

I'm sorry, I meant after KSC we are going further up to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge and we were going to take a drive through that...
Even better you will love it.
-
Thanks! Any thoughts on Merritt Island? I thought it would be a nice change of pace to go out and try to see some nature instead of just hitting another beach - we have 2 kids (12 & 5), so I hope they enjoy it!
You will travel through North MI to get to KSC. Very nice drive.

Google them for Melbourne and call the local office. When they answer ask if it is the local office as they roll over to a national center if local office is busy. My guess you can get a large car like a Mercury Marquis for $50.
