  1. Took this cruise last May. Crowded yes but great people watching, lots of big yachts in the harbor and exotic cars on the streets. Don't know if they offering a special expensive excursion at the Radisson but the folks we spoke to were a bit disappointed in it. We spent the evening at the bar on the Lawn. Saw the fireworks and had a great time for $600 (2 people) less than those that tendered over to the city.

  2. I've been trying to access My Celebrity for 4 days with no luck. Each time I get the dreaded check back in 20 minutes.

I guess I'll keep trying. We have 2 cruises booked and they show up when I log in but I have no way to manage my reservation or check out anything. First cruise isn't until January.

  3. Let's face it folks, our job as a consumer is to get as much as possible for the least amount of money. Celebrity's job is to make as much money as possible.

Those two objectives are not always compatible. When we as consumers feel the cost or service is no longer in line with what we feel is a value for what is being charged, we have a choice to make. Either take our business elsewhere or suck it up and pay more than we eat to pay.

Celebrity needs to make decisions about pricing and service levels that return the highest profit levels to shareholders. When those decisions are made, sometimes they are right and sometimes they are wrong. That is why the CEO makes the big bucks. Ultimately the bottom line determines if the decision was right or wrong. If they are wrong to often they will be out of a job. If they are right more often than wrong they see bigger bonuses.

This decision to add a service charge is a minor change to their pricing. I can assure you they have looked at the metrics on how many guests use room service between these times. They also know their labor and food costs during these times. The decision to add the service charge and its amount was put in a spreadsheet with different amounts figured in along with assumptions about how many guests would continue to choose to order with another assumption on how many guests would fall out and not order due to the charge. At that point they decided how much and what hours to add the new charge.

There is minimal risk on this one. I'm sure they figured they would not lose any guest to another cruise line due to adding the charge.

Yes I know there are some folks who will knee jerk react and say I'll never cruise X again but my guess is they will not follow through unless they were already planning to leave.

    Just my opinion and thoughts.

  4. You know what Don, I agree it's not hard to stop by the MDR to check out the menu each day, but it is also a pretty good idea to put it up on the TV each morning. There have been several times we had early morning excursions and didn't get back until late afternoon. We would have liked to know that morning what the menu was before we headed out. No need to flame a person that has a totally reasonable request.

  5. We had originally booked the Sept 7 Equinox from Barcelona to Istanbul. We cancelled last fall and changed to the Equinox May 11 Barcelona to Rome. Cancelled due to the beginning of some concerns with Istanbul that were just beginning at that time. Very happy we made the change with overnight being cancelled and the Noro issue that took place this summer on Equinox. Plus we met some great people on our excursions and didn't have to spend the summer worrying about anything other than what to pack for our January Caribbean and May Alaska cruises.

Yes we got hooked back into cruising after 10 years away and doing all land vacations.

  6. The previous comment about not getting the ship free of Noro is just not true.

We sailed on Equinox from Barcelona to Rome in early May just after the TA. There was no sign of the virus on the TA or our cruise. Please know the facts before you make these types of comments.

  7. I am not sure about this but will add a new thought I believe. Celebrity was most likely paying some type of franchise fee for the Molecular Bar. Now they are likely receiving a sponsorship fee from Diageo. It is a win/win scenario for Celebrity.

If this has already been brought up, my apologies.
