  1. I'm sailing this Sun on Escape and put in a bid for the Spa Haven. When I check my page it doesn't say the usual "Let's get you upgraded" but just print your edocs. If I go to my browser and go directly to the upgrade link it says still pending. Since they don't send out decline notices, when can I pretty much give up hope that I didn't get the bid? I know the it says anywhere until 48 hours before sailing but it seems like many people have posted that it was about a week out. Anyone get upgraded so close to leaving?

As long as it still says "pending", you still have a chance! Good luck and let us know!!

  2. Congratulations on both. Emerald knocking on Diamond and neither the upgrade or upsell fairies has ever called. OH well. :)

We're Diamond and they have never contacted us either...:loudcry: We have some prime real estate on our upcoming Freedom cruise and I'm hoping we get an upsell call. My sister and I have side-by-side balconies, middle of the hump on 9. Wonder what the chances are??

  3. Hi. I have never bid before. I have read this thread periodically.

We are 79 days out from sailing on the Getaway in October. While some folks on our roll call have gotten offers to upgrade, we have not. One person who has already gotten an upgrade offer is in a balcony stateroom.

We booked a spa balcony mini-suite. Do ya'll think that NCL is waiting to see if they can sell more Haven suites outright? There are quite a few Courtyard suites and 7 spa Haven suites left when I do a mock booking. Those are the only 2 rooms I would bid on. Thanks.

Go to your home page on NCL and there should be a "let's get you upgraded" banner. Let us know if you're able to bid!

  4. Heard about my Dawn sailing for 7/20, bidding from family suite with balcony to OS with 2 balconies. Bid 900 of the 1200 they wanted outright. Didn't get it. My bid was categorized as fair. But I'm happy where I am.

The family suites on 12 are perfect! Perfect location, perfect size! I was going to bid on the OS with 2 balconies but didn't like the location.

  5. It would be great to hear what past won bibs was? For example: What did you bib per person? Ship? From what stateroom to stateroom?

5/11/18, Dawn, Boston-Bermuda. Booked BD balcony, bid $370pp on SJ (family suite no balcony) and it was accepted the Monday prior to the cruise on Friday. I paid about half of what it would have cost to upgrade on my own.

  6. I have an awkward concern. I booked back in May for the end of July 2018 NCL sailing. I am a newbie at this bidding process. I have changed my bid so many times. I have gone up and I have gone down on the amount I was willing to pay based on the number of staterooms available and prices dropping since I booked. I wonder if I am no longer considered for a bid since I have made so many changes?

I have been doing the exact same thing! I was thinking they have already put me in a pest pile.

I changed many times too and my bid was accepted.

  7. Two days ago I put in a bid to upgrade from our Balcony BD cabin on deck 8 for a mini suite on our upcoming cruise this Friday the 6th on the Dawn. I heard within hours that my bid was accepted. I was very happy because I had not realized when I selected the cabin a few months ago that it was a “PrivaSea” balcony. I would have been very unhappy with that. My bid for mini suite was $200 per person.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I bid on the Dawn for our cruise back in May. We had a BD but put in bids for everything but the mini-suite. Only because the least you could bid was actually the difference on the website! Not a good deal to me. We did end up winning an SJ family suite for $370pp.

Have a great cruise and enjoy your MS!

  8. I don't think there is a rhyme or reason you get picked. This would be our scenario for the Dawn to Bermuda in May. My friend had a mini-suite booked and I had a BD balcony booked. At the very end of the bidding there were three SJ suites available. I bid low at $370 pp and she bid higher at $550 pp. We both ended up winning our bids. We were notified on the Monday before sailing Friday. I believe we saved about $700 if we had upgraded on our own. It was fun to play the game!!

  9. Hi All..

I do have a current inside cabin for Norwegian Getaway on July 8th. The prices have been dropping a lot. I bid for a balcony upgrade for a total of 230$. I have called NCL today and they told me it would cost me 350$ for a direct upgrade. Should I wait for the bidding or should I pay directly for it. Anyone cruising July 8th and received an answer for their bidding?

If the balcony they are offering for $350 is a guarantee, you will get no "free" perks. If it's a pick you cabin deal then I would spend the $350 and get your balcony now.

  10. As long as you are comfortable hearing each other making fart noises, you will be fine. The frosted glass and curtain offer some privacy, but they don't hide the sounds or smells.

 I'll do my duty when my friend is on the balcony. I also always bring bathroom spray!! :p

  11. I travelled with another middle-aged married straight man on the Epic. It didn't bother either of us.

There's a privacy curtain you can use to separate the bath/atrium area from the sleeping area.

It's still kind of a weird design, but not as bad as you'd think.

    Thanks!

  12. I'm not sure where you got the notion that the toilet and the shower "are not behind closed doors."

There are doors, which just happen to be frosted glass. If you are uncomfortable with your silhouette being seen by your "bestie," there is also a cloth drape that can be drawn across the opening between room and shower/commode areas. As another precaution, one can drape a pool towel over the glass door for a little more privacy. Plenty of families have been cruising on the EPIC for years and have found ways to make it work!!!

I think you know what I meant... Specifically not a separate bathroom. I'm glad to know there is at least a drape and the pool towel is also a good idea.

  13. I have not been on the Epic but find it very interesting. It seems strange that the bathroom is sort of in the cabin. I travel every year with my bestie. Does it seem strange with two women in the same cabin with that set up? I hesitate to book because it seems really odd to be on the toilet or in the shower that are not behind closed doors! Tell me it's really not that horrifying!
