Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. You don't really order, except for dessert. Everything else just shows up on the table. This was our first full sea day (the day after embarkation). Here are some pictures:
  2. I'd read about it, and saw it show up in the app. We tried to make reservations, but the two people we spoke to on board just told us to show up... which we did! There was plenty of room. It ran from 1-3:30, I believe, and it looked like they were seating people as late as 3:30 (or whenever it closed down).
  3. It was so good! Worth it if you like the cuisine. It's the only "extra" I paid for all week (no beverages, Plus, casual restaurants, etc.).
  4. The crab pop-up was $34.99 (about $40 after taxes and fees) and, holy cow, was it a lot of seafood! People were walking away when they learned what the "nominal fee" was... but we nom-nom-nommed enough that it was a bargain, especially if you keep up with market prices for things like crab's legs and lobster! 2024-02 Sanctuary Menu.pdf 2024-02-19 Crab Popup.pdf 2024-02-21 Trident Grill Menu.pdf
  5. I was unable to find much of anything on the kids' clubs before we left, so thought people might like this. There was a lot for the kids to do, but they didn't have to do any of it. There was also a "family fair" in the piazza one night, so we got to be a part of that. Let me know if you have any questions! Laura Camp Discovery The Lodge February 18 2024 Sailing.pdf
  6. There was SO MUCH going on! 2024-02-18 Princess Patter.pdf 2024-02-19 Princess Patter.pdf 2024-02-20 Princess Patter.pdf 2024-02-21 Princess Patter.pdf 2024-02-22 Princess Patter.pdf 2024-02-23 Princess Patter.pdf 2024-02-24 Princess Patter.pdf
  7. I forgot to copy the menu on 2/21. Sorry about that! 2024-02-18 Concerto Dinner Menu.pdf 2024-02-18 Dessert.pdf 2024-02-19 Concerto Dinner Menu.pdf 2024-02-20 Concerto Dinner Menu.pdf 2024-02-21 Concerto Dessert Menu.pdf 2024-02-22 Concerto Dinner Menu.pdf 2024-02-23 Concerto Dinner Menu.pdf 2024-02-24 Concerto Dessert Menu.pdf 2024-02-24 Concerto Dinner Menu.pdf
  8. Bless you. I was panicked because I popped my kid's in and wanted to move it to a strap we already had for and AirTag. Whew! Thanks!
  9. Thanks for the suggestion. We're not getting full wifi while on board. In fact, one of the draws of this vacation is that I won't be available to the "real world" for a full week! 🙂 His is an iPad, so I'm not sure this would work, but it's good to know for the future! Interesting... I've done everything, but don't remember that. I'll go back through and see if I missed something. Also, I have read that it doesn't notify you, but if it's morning and he's in the room alone, I'll know that I need to check every little bit to see if he's woken up. Thanks. We aren't getting internet on board. Cool. I'll try that. I'm not telling him until a few days before we go, so will have to try to get it up and running quickly.
  10. I'm traveling with my 9-year-old soon, and he sleeps a lot later than I do. My plan was to get out on deck and walk around in the mornings and tell him to message me through the Princess app when he wakes up so I could come back. I was trying to set up an account for him, but it says you have to be 18 to set up an account. Has anyone had luck with installing the app for their kids to use without setting up a full Princess account? Thank you!
  11. We've taken taxis before, but don't really have a destination; we were just going to tool around. Sorry. We'll be at Puerta Maya. I already talked to my insurance and understand that I have to buy 750,000 Mexican Pesos in liability. Also, I've read to take a copy of the passport and not the actual passport because if local police end up in possession of your passport, it can be dicey. I did end up finding some vehicles at some smaller places I just found by looking at Google maps. Most of them are standard transmission, which is fine with me because I can drive a stick. The big thing IS that with the extra insurance, it's approaching $150 and might not be worth it to me. Thanks for everyone's input!
  12. I'm looking at renting a car for the day we're in port. Nothing is coming up anywhere but the airport, which would require a taxi ride and more complication than I was hoping for. Is it possible that every car is already booked from the rental facilities around the port? I've not done this before, so I don't know whether I'm missing something. Thanks!
  13. I'm with you on all of this. We're taking a 7-night cruise in February and the Plus package would nearly double the cost of the cruise (we got a really great deal!).
  14. Galveston is a neat town, and if you are only getting there the day before the cruise leaves, I would encourage you to visit sometime and stay a while. The architecture, state park, The Strand (preferably NOT on a cruise day!), and just the general vibe of the town is super cool. We'd only visited for a day or two pre-cruise until last Christmas, we decided last minute to spend a whole week there. We could have stayed longer, as we still hadn't seen everything. If I weren't so scared of hurricanes, I'd be tempted to move there.
  15. This looks amazing. It seems wrong that the ship's kitchen couldn't get something like this right. That picture of the Frankie looks like something I'd begrudgingly throw together for one of my kids if they told me they were starving at 9:30 PM.
