  1. You will have to pay the penalty, back in May when I was unable to fly longer than an hour due to medical reasons and doctors note Carnival didn't care, their rules are their rules, but in reality it was a good thing, I took my business over to RC Harmony of the Seas, it was my71st cruise and my. most favorite ship! We loved it so much we be on the Oasis her sister ship this Sunday...but I didn't like having to pay the penalty, all I wanted to do is change my ship to port Canaveral (we were going on the Dream out of NOLA) where I didn't have to fly and just a two hour car trip, but we lost the money....

This is why you should always have travel insurance. If you had it, you wouldn't be out any money.

  2. No experience, but I've heard it's best to show up without him and not notify Carnival that he's canceling should you find out he definitely can't go. If he doesn't show up, you're all set. But if he cancels, you'll be charged a single supplement, essentially paying for his share of the cabin again.

  3. The $200 or a little less is the 18% gratuity on the value of the package. You don't need to add any additional tips (although you can for outstanding service) when you order your drinks. Had you paid full price for it, it would have cost you $79 per day x 7 days x 2 people + 18% gratuity = $1,305.08. I'd say you got a deal.

  4. I'm driving my daughter and her boyfriend into Boston tomorrow to board the Dawn. Their documents say they won't be allowed in any earlier than their noon boarding time. I haven't read anywhere that Norwegian has turned passengers away for arriving early, but I could be missing something. It's been 10 years since I e cruised Norwegian. If they want to get on early, can they? What time should they plan on checking in?

  5. Where did you get this from, i have flown in and out of Seattle many times. When traveling domestically, we leave our passport at home. Also we just flew home from Charleston, no passport.

But that was before January 22, 2018. After that date you won't be able to use your state issued ID to fly, unless the state changes how they issue IDs.

  6. We had an over the water cabana last August. Very quiet and secluded but close enough to get to the pool and everything else in a short walk. Seeing the location of the other cabanas, I'd do over the water again in a heartbeat.

  7. I cover our luggage tags in packing tape at home. I cut off the parts that say, "Do Not Cut", fold them in half, wrap them, punch a hole in each one, and put them and zip ties in the folder with all of our cruise documents. The morning of embarkation, we attach the tags to our luggage at the hotel and head to the ship.

    We do the same.

  8. We had two cabins last summer. Hubby and I were in a balcony by ourselves. Son (18), daughter and boyfriend (both 21) were across the hall in an inside. No issues what so ever. From what I understand, they could have been locate anywhere on the ship as long as the reservations were linked.

  9. Personally I thought FTTF was worth it just for the guest services line. My daughter's BF lost his S&S card before we were on the ship an hour. We went to guest services at least 5 times and were waited on right away while there were at least 10 people in the regular line, sometimes 20+.

  10. Technically you have to wait. However our last well-tipped bartender would serve my son the soda he ordered then ring it up on our card after a 5 minute wait. We spent a lot of time at that one bar, so it wasn't an inconvenience to wait. We enjoyed chatting with him. We never asked him to do this, and a few times he did charge my son's card.

  11. Comparing the Steakhouse to the MDR or Outback is like apples and oranges. At Outback I get an 18 year old server who knows the menu, and that's it. At the MDR, my server is too busy now to interact with us. At the steakhouse I get amazing service from someone who can make suggestions and dotes on us. I'll take the steakhouse any day.

  12. If you go to Carnival's website you can look at deck plans. You have cabins both above and below, so it's a good location and should be quiet. I've never been on the fascination but had a similar location on the Magic and found the balcony to be very private. Here is a link to a similar cabin to give you an idea of what the pullmans look like. I'd be happy with it.

  13.

I know we will be taking a bottle of wine EACH on board and some sodas. I've read you cannot take water bottles(?) Trying to mentally figure out what to pack/how to pack. I had thought about trying to get the FTF but they are sold out. Does anyone know if sometimes they'll have more? Can your carry-on bag be a small rolling bag that essentially is a carry-on size at the airport?

You can't bring on water, but you can pre-purchase 12-packs through the funshops at a fairly reasonable price. We had Cheers and I still pre-purchased for our 18 year old and for the convenience of having them in our cabin.

Occasionally FTTF does become available (as people cancel it or they just release more based on how platinum cruisers are booking) but will sell out again quickly. Your best bet is to check daily if you can.

A small rolling bag is perfect. You can carry on any luggage as long as it will fit through the scanners (I don't know the exact dimensions, but there are many threads on this topic). But, keep in mind that if you do not have FTTF, you will need to keep it with you until your cabin is ready. Even with FTTF, we prefer a small rolling bag or backpack and just check the rest.
