  1. Stupid question, I am sure it has been mentioned hundreds of times, but I cannot find information on when the first cruise (inaugural cruise is, I know it is the beginning of May but what date exactly? Thanks. I just want to start looking at reviews and posts and blogs :) I will be going on Jan 14th

    It is May 1st, 2016

  2. The Havana Cabana that Matt looks into.....is MINE!! Yes, that exact cabin! We are right at the pool end of the row of Cabanas on the Starboard side. How cool is that? I agree the walkway in front of the Cabana is narrower than I'd expected, but the glass wall out to see has always been in the renderings. That's not a surprise to me.

Mrs Fuzzmo, I forget, are you on the Inaugural? Just wondering if you will be sailing with us. :)

  3. So, I was looking at a picture of the Vista from today in Italy and I zoomed in on the Havana area and then captured it from the rest of the picture. If you look to the left you can clearly see where the cabanas begin and a lattice wall going all the way to the rail, blocking anyone from just walking in. So now we know how they will block traffic on the open deck. :)attachment.php?attachmentid=381405&stc=1&d=1459423229

  4. I will be on the Vista 4 weeks after her inaugural sailing, looking for any and all information about her. Has anybody located a good website that enlightens me about what she has on her, Wi-Fi, specialty restraints, etc. I have been on carnival site, so sites other than theirs would be much appreciated. Thanks

I'm on the inaugural in a Cabana. Really looking forward to it and all the new areas.

I will do my best to come back to the "Everything Vista" section and post as many pictures as wifi will allow.

    It's getting close now. :)

  5. Which is perfectly fine and acceptable. I just don't think there will be gangs of teens hanging around.

As far as I'm concerned, most of the time I'll probably be up at the lido pool too, as I like to be where the action is as well, so someone can have my havana chairs. :). I'm sure we will take advantage of the area early in the mornings for a hot tub or later in the afternoons when we are winding down, but I know we will not be spending the majority of our sea days there. We have the first havana cabana cabin right off the pool area, so the convenience factor is there, but we rarely stay in one place too long. :)

Just want to say after reading a number of your posts, I wish you were sailing on the Inaugural with me. I love your outlook. :)

  6. The Cabins right above the Havana area are deck 6 aft cabins that have been reclassified as Havana aft cabins, same for the next deck up which is deck 7 but the next deck up (deck 8) are classified as regular aft cabins.

If you have an email I can send you a PDF deck plan that will show you the cabins and you are correct, this picture is looking at the back cabins of the ship.

Looking at the deck plans, I see Cabins 6478 through 6471, which are at the fantail (eg, as far aft as you can go)...

I'm starting to think I'm looking at some other part of the ship - I'll try pasting this photo in - What cabins am I looking at here???

  7. I'm trying to figure out which rooms I'm looking at in the artists' rendering of the finished ship -

We're booked on the TransAtlantic in a Cove balcony, but I'm thinking about another Vista trip in 2017; and in the renderings, there's a particular shot from the aft looking forwards that shows balcony cabins overlooking the Havana pool. What room numbers are those..??? That's what I'd like to book, but I can't even figure out what deck that is..? Anyone know?

Those would be Decks 6 & 7 which are considered Havana Aft Balconies and Deck 8 which are standard aft balconies.

  8. No I am on the 12 day August.

See the 'lots of plats and diamonds' thing doesn't hold water with me as when I was on the Panama Canal Legend sailing there were 100 diamonds, 500 plats and the priority lounge in Tampa was rammed.

We waited with FTTF in the lounge with the above and boarded 20 minutes after the first person on the ship.

Well then as Sam_Eagle posted, he got FFT on his cruise so I would say just keep checking.

  9. After reading about FTTF not being available on Europe I am left puzzled and a bit miffed. I was completely willing to pay the new price to ensure I got on early with my luggage comign early.

I was pondering why this might be so and came up with a few reasons.

    1) Carnival cannot be bothered to offer it (even though its been offered before in Europe and they have all the stuff prepared already)

    2) They saw there was no tendering and decided to not offer it

    3) With many Europeans sailing on the Vista and not knowing about it/Carnival as a whole they decided not to bother selling it.

    4) They didn't sell many FTTFs last time in Europe (although they sold most on our sailing).

    5) Barcelona is already hailed as an efficient port so it is not needed (although the other ports I cannot say)

With all these reasons aside I think they did miss a trick in making a few more squid out of folks like me. Even if getting on the ship is quick its the early luggage that makes FTTF good for me and Vista is huge. My FB group also have a lot of people willing to buy.

    Thoughts?

I am tempted to message the Heald to ask why to be honest.

Are you on the Inaugural? If so, the ship does not depart until 7:00 pm. Check in will probably begin mid morning giving the ship more than 7 hrs to load and distribute luggage. Also considering that a vast amount of the cruisers for that sailing will be plat or diamond and they will be allowed onto the ship first and their luggage will be delivered first then FFT (If they had it). It just doesn't make sense to have FFT for this sailing.

  10. From what I have been told and read, the deck in front of all the cabanas will only be for those booked in Havana cabins on deck 5 and decks 6 & 7.

General public will be able to walk the promenade deck back to the Lani area then there will be some sort of a barrier/gate/entryway that only those booked in the cabanas will be able to access.

Now, that being said, this is a new build and things are evolving all the time especially since this is a totally new concept for a Carnival ship. What I wrote above is definitely subject to change.

I for one am not worried about privacy because I am not planning on doing anything outside that people couldn't see :) and I am sure that the curtains will be made specifically for these cabins so that evening strollers will not be able to see in.

As for the smoking or nonsmoking on one side of the Lani, that also could change.

  11. You're brave for inaugural...after the sunshine's problems with her first voyage.

The Sunshine was a "remodeled" ship and as such had a number of engineering nightmares to over come with adding more cabins, relocating things and a very tight time frame. Add to that the problems that were going on at the shipyard at that time and certain employees doing things to the ship to sabotage it and yes, the first sailing on the Sunshine had a few problems.

In contrast, the Vista is a new build and as such, the engineering plans have been thoroughly gone over and will continue to be looked at. This ship is taking over a year to build with a number of months doing sea trials making sure that she will be sea worthy in every way.

As for the crew. The crew will be coming to the Vista at least 1 to 2 months ahead of the first sailing to learn the ship and prepare it for passengers. There will not be much of a learning curve because although visually to us the ship will be a different type, but the inner workings, the kitchen, Hwy 95, and all the behind the scene places that we would not see will be pretty much like any other Carnival ship.

smcb66, this is going to be a fabulous cruise and if I can help in any way just let me know on our roll call. :)

  12. I'm on the Vista TA so I need a one way ticket to Barcelona. I will definitely be leaving out of JFK.

Have been checking fares since February for this year same week. They are all over the place. Norwegian has the best but with some lengthly layovers.

What is the best site to view all fares at one time? TIA

    Try justfly.com

  13. When can you book dining REservations?

I've heard good things about Farenheit 555 and want to make sure I get a booking or 2!

Not sue but probably starting around July and that is a maybe. I keep checking and it is not listed for reservations yet.

  14. Getting so excited! It would be great if we had the hammock chair swings. I think where people might be getting confused with the new cabins that have become "Havana" up on 6 & 7 is the category, not necessarily the style. The Promenade cabins are "Havana CABANA" Cabins with the lanai and private loungers. Will the Havana Balcony cabins have loungers? possibly, but they are not the CABANA cabins with the lanai, loungers and swings.

I have heard that all the Cabanas will have the hammock chair. I believe someone asked John H. and he checked and was told that all cabanas would have them.

We too are getting excited. I know it's still a year out but I am truly looking forward to this ship and this cruise.

  15. Wow, so much concern over how many will be at the pool after 5 p.m. and privacy of the cabana area.

As it has been stated by John Heald and other Carnival employees, the area directly in front of the Cabanas on Port and Starboard sides will be key card access only so I am not concerned about a constant parade of people going past.

Now, for the pool area after 5 p.m., I have been on 16 cruises to date and to be honest, most of all the pools and the area that surrounds them clear out by 6 with a few stragglers left. On around 8 or 9 it is rare to see anyone in the pools and this is on the open decks i.e. Lido. Most all are either at dinner, getting ready to go to dinner or going to the shows and such. I have strolled to the aft area on many of the ships I have sailed on and usually, this is the most unoccupied area of the ship in the evening and night even when it is the Serenity area.

Now that being said, there will probably be more people coming down after 5 p.m. on the first few cruises just to see what it looks like but I doubt that they will stay for long. The action places in the evening are the Ocean Plaza, the Red Frog Bar, the Casino and such.

It will be a work in progress I am sure for at least the first 3 or so sailings but I am sure Carnival will do what it takes to keep these cabins semi exclusive. If word starts spreading that there is no exclusivity and there are privacy issues, they will not be able to sell these cabins at the "much" higher rate that they are asking for now. JMHO

  16. So as I was looking on the Carnival web site today, I did a mock booking for an Havana Cabana and I noticed this

    This room includes:

Two twin beds (convert to king). Sofa and coffee table. Desk and seat. Full bathroom with shower. 3 closets. Floor-to-ceiling window. Outdoor patio facing Lanai with patio chairs and table.

Exclusive Havana amenities: Exclusive daytime access to Havana Bar & Pool. Reserved deck chairs on the Lanai.

S I am wondering now that they have opened up more cabins to the Havana category, how are they going to have enough reserved deck chairs?

  17. Ha! Thanks! Jan. 28, 2017 (a looooong way off) 8 night Southern, but the cabanas are selling out quickly!

I want people to walk past my yard and say "Hey, how'd you get such a cool cabin?" I kind of hope they open it up in the evenings. We love to people watch and socialize.

So for anyone on the Jan 28 2017 Southern that wants to come and hang out in my yard, just drop on over!! I'll be in my lounger with a tall frosty something or other and a huge smile on my face.

I was hoping you would be on the May 1st Inaugural. We would be a few doors down in 5220 and would love to meet you.

    Have a terrific cruise!

  18. Just booked #5240. Cabin closest to the pool. NICE! I like the fact that we can chat with people strolling on by. Maybe we'll meet some nice new friends and invite them into our "yard" for a cocktail! Sounds pretty perfect to me.

You have a terrific attitude! What sailing did you book?
