  1. This is exactly what I've been hearing as well, controlled entry to the lanai from both ends. Now if someone else with a Cabana room is out on your balcony, well that would take some balls! I'm booked and have zero concern for this to happen.

I feel the exact same way! I have no concerns as to the privacy we will have. Only our neighbors in the cabana area will be there.

  2. We had decided on a Havana Balcony for our cruise in Feb 17 until I read this thread. Now I am undecided. I can see people just opening up our gate and using our furniture on the lanai. That would be a problem....

From what I know and have been told, no one except the people that have booked the Havana cabins will be allowed access to the area in front of the cabanas via a key card. People will have access to the back pool area after 5 pm but they can only access that area by going through the Havana Bar. They will not even be able to access our internal hallways.

  3. I'm looking at the deck plans and considering a Havana interior.

I cannot figure out how to get from the interior rooms to the pool area.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I believe that it will be all key card access either through rear access doors at the end of the hallways or for the cabana people you can access from the cabana area too.

This is just my thoughts and speculation though. I am excited to find out. :)

  4. For those that are interested in the smoking policy on the Vista, here is the official posting

Please note that after earlier discussions, we have designated the following locations where smoking will be permitted on the Carnival Vista:

    • Deck 4 – Interior Space – Casino & Casino Bar

    • Deck 11 – Exterior Space – Port side Aft

  6. All those things on deck 5 so close are part of the draw for me. I love that everything is easily accessed. To me this will be such a bonus on a cruise that is so port intensive. Won't need to walk the ship to get to cocktails and food. More eating choices closer if we decide not to do the MDR.

I also love that so many have such varying ideas and opinions on these cabins. Makes for a terrific discussion. :)

I cannot not know if I will like these cabins or if they will turn out to be the nightmare space , but I am looking forward to finding out.

When you look at all the things next to the Havana Bar I think it will be a busy place indeed, especially if people are too tired to go to the MDR after all those ports hand want some informal drinks and food. There will also be lots of traffic from pool goers going to get food.

Theres the Red Frog pub and brewery,Piano bar, steakhouse,Bonsai sushi, taste bar, Ocean plaza, Havana, Cherry on top, fun shops, Liquid lounge and alchemy bar all on that deck so its going to be a busy place a lot of the time and especially in the evenings.

If the price was very low I would consider it but when you look at all the other balconies it does not seem worth it to me...especially on a cruise with few sea days (ours has 3).

    Thats just my take anyway.

  7. What IS the smoking side? Starboard? I want to make sure. Thank you. :)

I believe it is but I have asked a Carnival employee that I know to check out the smoking areas on the Vista. I don't want to give out wrong information.

I was told that I should get that information in a few days. I'll let you know. :)

  8. Wonder if they'll allow smoking in the outside of the cabanas on the smoking side of the ship... It's not a balcony, and you aren't in the room...

For those who would want to smoke, it would just be a quick walk to the smoking side outside the Ocean Plaza area where smoking is still allowed. :)

  9. You very well could be right and only time will tell but even if there are people at times walking past I still believe that the location and ease to everything on deck 5 and the exclusive use of the the entire back area during the day is going to be well worth it. :)

I a matter of a few steps in the morning I will be able to grab some delicious Cuban Coffee and bring it back to my cabana and sit and enjoy the morning. That's what I'm talking about!

I have to think that there's going to be a fair amount of traffic out on the promenade in front of the Havana stateroom balconies during all hours of the day. Take a good look at the deck plans for this area, and pay particular attention to the location of Ocean Plaza in relation to the Havana stateroom balconies...

    CarnivalVista-Map-PromenadeAft.jpg

If you've ever been on Carnival Dream, Carnival Magic, or Carnival Breeze... think about the times you explored the ship in this area. It's only natural to head out the doors from Ocean Plaza and to take a walk around the promenade deck to see what's out there.

Plus, remember that the promenade deck is the ONLY place on the entire ship with an outside deck that goes all the way around the entire length and width of the ship... so people who want to go for a long stroll around the whole ship without hitting a bunch of roadblocks are going to naturally gravitate here.

If you look carefully at the deck area near cabins 5239 and 5240, you can see there's a little zig-zag where they presumably will put up some kind of sign during the day saying that the aft Havana pool area is open only to Havana stateroom guests. I bet a whole bunch of people will at least walk up to those signs to see what they say, and to take a peek at what's back there... which will take those people right past all the Havana stateroom balconies.

Also, look carefully at the location of staterooms closest to Ocean plaza... such as 5201/5202/5203/5204 and all those up at that end. That's really close to ocean plaza. All sorts of people are going to be pouring out of there... at least early in the week when it's only natural to explore a new ship.

I still like the Havana stateroom cabins and I think there's a very good chance that's where I'll be whenever I finally cruise on the Carnival Vista. But I think we all need to be realistic in our expectations about the parade of people that will be walking in front of the balconies! Sitting out on a private balcony and looking out at the ocean is one of many activities I enjoy on a cruise. In the Havana cabins, it's going to be a very different situation. It will be wonderful to have private access to the Havana pool area, though!

  10. Booked a cabana for the May 1st Inaugural. Will take lots of pics and report back. :)

I do believe that some people are making too much out of the "after 5" privacy thing. This is deck 5 aft. There will be dinners to go to, movies to watch, a casino to lose money in (lol), the piano bar, the Alchemy Bar, and so much more. I am having a difficult time imagining a horde of people traipsing down the outside promenade deck just to get to the back pool after five o'clock.

Yes there will be some but at that time of the day most will be getting ready for the nightly activities.

Anyway, that's just my opinion and I for one am very excited to be in one and look forward to watching the Mediterranean sunrises and sunsets from mine. :)

  11. The 4K cabins do not open onto a walkway unless you include the metal construction one that is used maybe once every 2 weeks by maintenance men. To get into the rooms from deck 3 you would have to have a tall ladder and climb over lifeboats. They are so high from deck 3 that its hard to hear people underneath your cabin.

I think the noise from the party/dance floor next to the dance club will be noisy as well as people wandering around past your cabin both inside and out.

By the way, there is only one Havana balcony left on the transatlantic and no suites left.

    Thank you, I stand corrected.

  12. I posted this on another topic but it might be better here.

The Havana pool is what I always had invisioned for the adults only area for carnival instead of what they gave the adults on the breeze class of ships. They made it a little better on the sunshine giving them a pool.

Also, those nice aft balcony rooms, just lost a little bit of luster to me. Yes you get to have a nice big balcony but since the back of the ship sticks out further now you are just peeping on the select guest in the Havana pool. All the privacy that once was a highlight of an aft balcony is no gone since people on the pool deck will be able to watch you just as you are watching them.

I'm also concerned a little bit by the privacy and security of these open patio/balcony rooms. I would hate to open my shades in the morning and see someone just standing out there or late in the evening with people walking on deck 5 getting loud since now there will be a bar down it that area.

This is really not a new concept for a ship. The Spirit Class ships have French Door cabins that open up to the promenade walkway and your privacy and security is not jeopardized. People love them. If anything these will be better because you will have a lot more space between where people might be walking and your cabin.

Now, in my opinion, I really am not concerned re: nightlife and lots of people being there. There are restaurants, bars and a casino, movie theaters and a comedy club for people to go to and most will be going to them. Few will be making the trek down to Deck 5 aft. Just MHO.

  13. Thank you for posting these pics. They are beautiful!

Of all the new things they've announced about the Carnival Vista, I'm most excited about these Havana cabins and the adjacent Havana pool area. I think this is a really interesting idea.

For those that book a Havana balcony cabin or a Havana suite, I think the most interesting part will be the balcony, with a hammock and two loungers:

    carnival-vista-staterooms-havana-cabana-exterior-gallery-4.jpg

From your Havana balcony, it's just a very short walk around the corner to the aft of the ship where you'll find the Havana pool, two Jacuzzis, and lots of loungers for relaxing.

I hope the Havana suites are not too expensive. If the price was right, I could definitely see myself in one of them:

Carnival suites are usually fairly pricey, though, so I suspect that the Havana balcony cabins are going to be more in line with my budget:

I guess the inside Havana cabins will appeal to some, just to get access to the Havana pool area... but that wouldn't be for me. I really like the idea of the Havana balcony with the hammock and the loungers, and just making that quick walk around the corner to the pool.

However, the downside to the Havana balconies is a total lack of privacy. I wonder how much foot traffic there will be in that area of deck five... walking right in front of your balcony. It will be interesting to hear from the people in the Havana balcony cabins and suites during the first few cruises, to see how this idea works out in reality. The concept is certainly interesting.

In case you haven't seen it yet, Carnival has created a web page all about the new Carnival Vista... and it even includes a full set of deck plans. Check it out at http://www.carnival.com/cruise-ships/carnival-vista.aspx

  14. I think these rooms are fantastic and will be a big hit when the Vista hits the Caribbean. I don't know how much use I would give them on the port intensive cruises of the Med.

    Tom

I know what you mean. We have 3 sea days out of our 13 day cruise.

When we went on the Magic 12 Med a few years ago it was a constant go, go, go and we didn't even get back to the ship from Rome until 9:00 or so but it will be nice having the opportunity to sit aft in the evenings and watch the beautiful Med sunsets and sunrises.

  15. I love these rooms!!

I just need to know a little more prior to booking. IE: Just how private these patios are because they don't seem to be very private at all from what I've seen and how they plan to regulate the pool area to Havana guests only.

I too am interested in seeing how they will regulate the pool during the day. Going to be asking a lot of questions between now and our sailing day to try and get some answers.

During the day I really am not concerned re: the balcony. Geez, if I was on Lido there would be no privacy. :D During the night I really don't think w will get that much traffic. Lots to do like casino and movies and eating and the main pool deck so I am hoping it will be a semi quiet place. Either or it is going to be fun. I am a little sad that the regular Cabanas won't have the hammocks. :(

  16. I booked a havana cabana room for the TA. Not a suite, just a regular room. My husband wanted a cove because the balcony isnt private, but I convinced him by telling him we wont have to fight for deck space by the pool. I love the idea of laying in the hammock all day, even if it isnt private. Serenity isnt private either, and you have to fight for space.

That was one of the main draws for us to. I remember always having to walk and walk on sea days to find a lounger but now we will be able to step out of our room, walk a few feet and we will have our own lounger or walk a few more feet and have wonderful chairs and a pool to lounge in.

    No more fighting for space.:)

  17. We will be on this! :)

  18. We booked one of these cabanas last night for the May 1st inaugural. I looked at what pictures I could find pretty good and from what I can tell you enter your cabin through a hallway on the inside.

You have your sleeping area, your inside living area, your outside covered balcony area then a semi covered 2nd outside cabana area.

I do like the fact that during the day the pool will be only for cabana pe4ople but at night anyone can come.

I also like that it is so close to everything on Deck 5. Really a terrific location.

  19. We are cruising on the Pride soon in a regular balcony on deck 7. There are 8 others in our group. I noticed that cabins 8234 and 8239 are still available for my dates. It would cost me $200 to move. When I called Carnival to inquire about switching, the rep told me they were handicapped rooms, and that there is a chance we could be moved. Has anyone had any experience with either one of these cabins? I'm wondering how likely it is that both rooms would be needed. We sail in a couple of weeks. Thanks for any thoughts CC members!

I have sailed in cabin 5236 of the Pride a number of times. This is the same "bowling ally" balcony cabin as the ones you posted only it is not an HC cabin.

I wouldn't risk it (booking an HC cabin). For one thing I wouldn't want to be on pins and needles up to sailing date wondering if I was going to be bumped.
