  1. This is what I was thinking, just have to treat this booking like it is a guarantee. Luckily we did not get a special room this cruise, but I still select the location, make sure it is not under a public area, etc. But if we are essentially getting a guarantee, they should give some sort of OBC. I also wonder if we are unhappy with the assignment, how easy it will be to change it. Also when they gave us a date, they should have given one they would have been sure to meet. Now people on other groups are saying it will be out by the end of the week. SMH If we miss a due date, they are not very understanding...
  2. I wonder how much of a Costa experience this will be versus Carnival, have they said? My questions/concerns, will they still have the Carnival menus, chocolate melting cake, seaday brunch? Cupid shuffle at a sailaway party? I am ok with some changes, that might even be nice, but I want to feel I am on a Carnival ship with a Carnival experience. There are some new itineraries I am interested in and the pricing is good, but I would like to know more about the onboard product.
  3. This is 1000 times easier when there are constraints for work or school and there are only certain weeks or a single week in a month when you can go. Definitely going to save this. THANKS
  4. The original past guest program did not have a Diamond level, but yes was 10 cruises to platinum. When VIFP was rolled out, while it became 75 days to platinum, existing platinum cruisers were grandfathered. But the new Diamond level was set at 200 days at its introduction.
  5. Have you considered Baltimore? It is only a 3 hour drive from NYC and has year round sailing. Itineraries are not the best and repetitive, though there are a few that hit Bermuda or the Caribbean and skip the Bahamas. Spirit class has some unique features as well.
  6. JUST WORKED FOR ME! Like many of you I have been trying for days, even this morning. But I have been making a habit of checking and it went through and I even got the confirmation emails for my orders. Good because I have a couple final payments coming due and want to put a deposit down on another cruise.
  7. We were also on the Magic and the "evening" movies seemed to be at 6, 6:30 or 7. They also were not that good and not worth skipping the MDR or rushing dinner over. Prepandemic I had memorable movie experencies, especially the Martian where the space scenes from the movie seemlessly blended into the night sky. Also saw Black Panther and Hidden Figures. San Andreas Fault wasnt a masterpiece but was kind of fun seeing on the big screen outdoors.
  8. Havent had Guys in awhile, found them too greasy, probably for about 5 years. But I thought I would try the Funderstruck burger and loved it. Even had it on another day. For however long they keep it, I will be visiting Guys at least once per cruise.
  9. I wonder if it had to do with the age of the ship at the time. Destiny was one of the newest then. We were on the Festivale, they probably would not have retrofitted all the doors, perhaps not the Holiday as well.
  10. Don't have any from the 90s or a 2001 cruise. Not sure if we did not save them or we were still using the physical metal room keys then. I am not referring to the dining assignment cards they gave out back then, but the card we now swipe with to open the doors. Who has the oldest or remembers when they began?
  11. There were 4300 guests with about 1800 blue, 1200 red, 1000 gold, 250 platinum and 28 diamond. He was not feeling well and eventually tested positive for covid. Cheeky had been scheduled for vacation so this was her last week. While not a cruise director, she told me she had subbed once before when the CD had a death in the family.
  12. Have not seen this in a very long time. On an 8 day Magic earlier this month there were 2 sea days starting out and 2 at the end. So we went to the SDB 3 times (LOVE the french toast) and were planning to go the last day when we were surprised to see there was only a regular breakfast that was something like 7:30 - 9:30 am. But there was also a MDR lunch 12 - 1. It was a good menu, similar to the lunch menus in the past (not as extensive as dinner), with the dessert including a sundae that was better than what is on the kids menu. They also had a nice seafood dish. We asked out of curiosity why they did this and was told they had SDB the day before. I thought on cruises with a number of sea days this could be a good variation. I dont remember reading about it, certainly on a non Journeys cruise, since the restart.
  13. Toying with the idea of a B2B since we will be there anyway. Perhaps we can catch another European promotion the way we did with this one last spring. Yes it would reduce the 25% OBC, but still would save the 75% out of pocket, and thanks for the thought,
  14. We have booked a number of cruises short notice (not last minute but a few months before) where early dining was filled and there was no wait list. There was nothing Carnival rep or the TA could do. But the first day I go to the dining inquiries, usually around 1pm, and was able to get early dining every time on the spot. Boarding early with platinum we have normally eaten by that time and go down to the mdr and often are first in line. Between that and being platinum, as others have suggested, the change seems to be a no brainer for them.
  15. I am confused by all this. We have used CVS in the past and they charged our insurance and we never had an out-of-pocket cost. The test itself was covered fully by insurance but they started to bill for an office visit but CVS never charged us for the copay/deductible. I wonder if they will want payment going forward and we will be better off with the OnPoint monitored testing. Has anyone been charged by CVS or is this too new a policy to know? Is there an out-of-pocket cost for patients with insurance? Patients with insurance should not have any out-of-pocket costs for a covered COVID-19 test, but check with your health plan to confirm before scheduling a test. If you have health insurance, you must bring your card with you to the test site. For patients who test negative for COVID-19 through a rapid test and come into the clinic, the clinic visit should be considered part of your test by your health plan. You likely will not have any out-of-pocket costs for the in-clinic visit, or for testing to further evaluate COVID-like symptoms, but you should check with your health plan to confirm coverage. You will be responsible for any patient cost as determined by your insurance.
  16. There is a price limit on the drink. Something like $10. You can still order a more expensive drink and the discount is applied and you are charged the difference plus 18% gratuity on that discount.
  17. Generally the pools and hot tubs are, but I have seen instances where at least some were closed for cleaning and opened at some point in the afternoon. Especially if you board early this is possible. Water works and the slides will be open relatively early in the afternoon. Again, maybe not right away, especially if you board early, but long before sail away. I think in every instance by the time we ate lunch and changed water works and the slides were open. This has been the case both before and after covid.
