  1. It is in June so at least all the outdoor deck activities would be fine. Have not booked yet. Still in the "thinking about it" mode. I have had 2 sea days in a row numerous cruises and enjoyed them, just not sure about 8!
  2. I see a Journeys transatlantic with 8 in a row. I am fine with sea days, but is that just too many, like a Groundhogs Day unending loop? What I like about port days is the ship empties out and while I normally disembark for awhile, there is time either before or after leaving to enjoy escaping the crowds. Anyone been at sea for a similarly long time and how has it been? I know there will be some additional Journeys activities but still wondering.
  3. Wow I would love to try that. Was it good? Was it at dinner? They only seem to have the cakes and cookies lunchtime.
  4. What a wonderful feeling. Our cruise returns that day (though we are not cruising out of New Orleans).
  5. Looks good to me. My only complaint is that I eat too much already. Oh well couple more pounds added to an already gluttonous cruise 😄
  6. Is it 1 appetizer 1 entree 1 dessert only? Are multiples of anything allowed? New menu has good offerings, might want to try a few.
  7. Venezia has 2 unique Italian style burgers at Guy’s, at least one with mozzarella cheese. Give them a try.
  8. I consider being on before 11 a "victory" and it has happened a few times with 10:45 or 10:50 the earliest. But technically on a b2b we never left so dont know how to count that. We met in a lounge and they checked us in and out and gave us our new cards without having to leave the ship.
  9. One slide the twister one is kind of slow and not too exciting, at least compared to some of the other ships. Green Thunder is another story. It literally has a floor that slides open and you freefall drop for a bit. Not for the faint hearted though some love it. Did you notice Chopsticks at lunch, an Asian buffet on the Lido deck? I believe they still have it.
  10. Wasn't my first, so that is not why I am voting for Festivale, but it had a unique feel. I believe it was not purpose-built for cruising, and it had the feel of an old-time ocean liner. Lots of actual wood on the Lido deck. Definitely different than any other cruise we have sailed on. Not sure how successful it would be now, but would be nice to experience it again at least once.
  11. Yes the computers have a free websites option and Carnival.com is one of the sites. You can search the site just like at home and log in to your account and go to manage my bookings and check in for the next cruise.
  12. If you are going to Halifax and a bit of a history or a military buff check out the Citadel. It is walkable from the port though a bit uphill at the end. Tremendous views of the city and port from up there. It is a fort with an excellent museum including exhibits on WWI trenches, military uniforms and equipment, etc. You can go on your own self-guided tour for a reasonable admission price.
  13. I got mine in 9 weeks, applied in April received in June, which is right smack in the presummer rush period. Standard mail and standard processing. Did not need it until September so I was not concerned but presently surprised at the promptness.
  14. That is what they said so good to know no rush. I have never cruised solo but if I do that could be the time to use it as I would get the OBC based on the double single occupancy cost.
  15. Doesn't look like there is any deadline to use it? No time frame mentioned for expiration?
  16. We are on the 17th started a roll call, join us unless you are on the 27th. We enjoyed last month and are looking forward to our future sailings on Venezia.
  17. You can go from 11 to 12 aft and even mid but not forward. We started going up from the forward pool area on 10 to 11 and then walking back a bit until there were stairs to 12. Until we figured that out we were going inside from 10 to 12 which is annoying when you are not fully dry and going to get wet again in waterworks or the serenity hot tubs. We were on the same sailing. We enjoyed the ship, especially the Ocean Plaza area, felt very similar to Horizon/Vista.
  18. We were on the June 19 sailing which was an 8 day with all the same ports except we did not go to Nassau. Enjoyed the ship especially the 11th floor "living room" area, a great covered place to hang out, read or even nap, while still hearing the sounds of the Lido deck. Marq was the cruise director and we would enjoy having him again if he is aboard. Also have the 12 day in February booked to escape the NE winter for awhile. This is our homeport and just a short ride to the terminal. Who else is joining the sailing?
  19. I was on a cruise last year with him and a rather large group of his clients. Seems like he periodically arranges client group cruises.
  20. Uber was about $25 each way. There was a spot at the terminal and at the airport to wait for uber and it was very easy and we only waited 5 or 10 minutes from when we ordered it.
  21. I do not truly feel comfortable until our boarding passes all have the check mark and we are sent to the boarding area. It is very exciting and we can see the ship tantalizingly close on the other side of the glass window. So yeah we will have to wait a bit but the excitement builds at that time and it is less than an hour to wait to board. Plus there is plenty of cushion this way for something that has never happened yet but could: flat tire, terrible traffic jam, etc.
  22. Have seen this on posted Thanksgiving dinner menus, but have not cruised then so never tried it. 🙁 I love dates, they have prunes, but dates are yummier as an additional breakfast fruit. Grapes would also be nice.
  23. Far from it. Very enjoyable cruise for us. Are you on the 12 days journey in February? There is a roll call,
  24. Room was totally fine, did not even need to use the lowest cool setting to keep it comfortable. Worst spots were the hallways on the passenger decks. They often felt totally unairconditioned. I wore a suit elegant nights and was fine in the dining room, even with a suit jacket over a longsleeved dress shirt. We have the May 17th booked. Got a great deal with the most recent sale. Which week are you? Also the February journeys. Lines to the comedy shows were very long, back to the casino. But we always made it in and even had good seats. Perhaps they have more seating than on most ships?
  25. We were switched over from Magic when it was moved down to Norfolk and Venezia was brought over to NYC. Some concern on this new concept and if it would have the Carnival feel. Back from the first 8 day Caribbean voyage and there was no issue. Everything was usual Carnival, and having been on Horizon and Vista we felt right at home. We kept calling the Gondola lounge Ocean Plaza and immediately knew where everything was, right down to the restrooms. Only a handful of negatives: No way to get from decks 10 to 12 unless you went inside or went to the aft, not many loungers around the main pool and no hot tubs there, Lido not set up well with long lines Pros: easily the classiest Carnival ship, very upscale feel, Asian buffet at Seafood Shack most sea days, Marq high energy cruise director, glass door in the cabin shower kept the water from leaking on to the bathroom floor We had taken a leap of faith and already booked a February journeys before trying Venezia. Now that we are backed how do we feel? Keeping February and booked May as well. Cant beat these long cruises out of NYC. Hopefully they will bring them back for 2025 too.
