  1. A little over one hour before your entrance time to the Acropolis.

    Scavi Tour

Does the url say https? If the "s" is there, it is secure.
  3. Using Nice as a base you can also do a day trip to the Italian Riviera stretch between Ventimiglia and San Remo. A wonderful side road just past Ventimiglia takes you to Dolceacqua and Apricale, two of the most beautiful villages on the Italian Riviera. There are no extra charges or restrictions for taking the car into Italy. You just have to return it in France at the end.
  4. Fly to Nice to explore, Nice, Cannes, St Paul, Monaco, Menton, beaches, markets. Fly to Marseille if you would rather go to Avignon, Aix, Arles. Given the interests you have mentioned, I would pick Nice. Rent a car at the airport to get around the area. From either place use Aegean Air to fly to Athens. aegeanair.com
  5. Go straight to Barcelona. There are things to see in Malaga, but there is no comparison to Barcelona. The train ride is about 7 hours. You can be in Barcelona mid-afternoon Wednesday and you will have all day Thursday there. You can "scratch the surface" in that time. Don't waste any time in Malaga this time.
  6. I was curious about the Montpellier stop and I checked the Viking website. Of course, the port is Sète since Montpellier does not have a commercial port. They would have had to tender to a local marina in the nearby barrier islands and then bus to Montpellier - a total nightmare for a large ship. The object of docking in Sète is to get cruisers closer to Carcassonne which is the current favorite of cruise excursions. The best and less crowded alternatives are Montpellier and Aigues Mortes.
  7. Bummer! We will be on Ovation during the conversion period with the "go live" in the middle. I hope it actually happens as scheduled or we will miss the whole thing.
  8. So that is why you couldn't get on-line reservations to the TK Grill. And as carnivores, we are looking forward to the bistecca alla Fiorentina.
  9. A taxi would be 55-60 euros for a 45 minute ride to the airport. George's price of 250 euros for 3 1/2 hours is more than fair and it would make for a lovely tour. This is the perfect setup to see Sounio. You will not regret it.
  10. Read this thread from the beginning. Good luck.
  11. You could be at a "bite the bullet" situation. While you check on bus and train schedules, also email tour companies and get a quote on a private tour. Check out Rome-inLimo or one of the frequently mentioned companies. Go directly to the company, not to a consolidator. A private tour may be the only way to accomplish your plans for Florence and give you a decent amount of time there.
  12. Depending on your itinerary, you might be better off taking a taxi between points. But, second the recommendation for George's or PK.
  13. You will be driving along the beaches. Lake Vougliameni is along the way and it is worth a couple of pictures. Don't overpack the trip. Enjoy the drive and save time for an early lunch before arriving at the airport.
  14. This is the perfect time to go to Sounio. The timing works out great. The only thing you will be missing is the sunset, but the setting is beautiful at any time. We have used George's Taxi many times over the years and can highly recommend them. https://www.georgestaxi.com/
  15. Restaurants in highly touristy areas are interested in giving you a tasty meal AND in turning over the tables. Pick a nice outdoor taverna, enjoy the ambiance. You will get served quickly and be on your way.
  16. Why don't you visit Avignon or Les Baux or Arles? You have already been to Aix and Cassis is just a little town without the star power of those others.
  17. The Excelsior is too far from all the main attractions. See if you can use your points in the Pantheon Iconic which is in a perfect location.
  18. Yes. But double check before you get in.
  19. No. We always just walked in. If they are charging for anything now it would be a small charge at the door. No lines to speak of.
  20. No. One is garbage collection in Naples. The other one is energy workers in Palermo.
