  1. Good luck with more numbers. Carnival has tried to own their own online conversations for quite a while now, aided by JH and his anti-CC commentary. Alas, Carnival roll calls here have fallen away as a result.
  2. Reminiscent of Oct/Nov 2007 when Regal Princess arrived from the US, then departed for Singapore to be made over into Pacific Dawn. She still scrubs up OK, at least from the outside.
  3. Enjoy your cruise. I will give you a wave when we cross paths on Tuesday morning.
  4. Which class has more class? Icon is a bit closer to the camera, which will accentuate the difference. Well, sort of. We enjoyed many cruises on Radiance, and would probably have a great time on Icon. I think I need to save for a mobility scooter though.
  5. Interesting track, which would make for a really unusual cyclone, but the BOM has changed their mind on it reforming. There are several models for cyclone tracking, and the one the BOM chose named "Lincoln" during a 6 hr period a week ago in the gulf of Carpentaria. Several other models show that the storm didn't reach a high enough intensity to be considered a cyclone. For all of the concerns that the term cyclone conjures, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne have all had more intense storms this past week.
  6. Misleading in Australia, sure, but part of normal practice in much of the world. At this stage you can only report it as a breach, choose not to use them, or pay with a card that doesn't charge international fees. It is one of those toothless ACCC guidelines that advise best practice. There is no legal requirement at this stage, and ACCC hasn't taken any steps toward enforcement since publishing those guidelines in 2019. Their main target is for those web/ebay/marketplace/FB pages that pretend to be Australian, but only have an Australian online storefront for goods being sold out of Asia. Another concern is that ACCC publishes a document where they can't spell business correctly.
  7. The bounce online payment is processed in $AU at an overseas bank, hence the charge. It is your bank that charges the fee, not Bounce. Bounce is charging you in $AU, and are not required to advise the payment will be processed outside of Australia. We will drop all luggage we won't need and that leaves us travelling light. It is more than just valuables, electronics & documents though, as we hang on to anything we will need till dinner in case of delayed luggage to our cabin.
  8. Go and join the crew for a drink or three at the Irish pub.
  9. The media likes to call ex-tropical cyclones as cyclones, even though they have lost that classification and are hybrid lows at worst. That said, the seas around NZ from the remnants of such cyclones are often worse than the seas in the tropics, just with much less destructive wind.
  10. They are gonna laugh at me when I take my scotch fillet out to the prom deck for some photos on Coral Princess next week. Looks like a fun class with some cool ideas for props.
  11. A slip of the keyboard would be excusable. Anything more deserves a 4 lettered response.
  12. The tour isn't much, but offered up a good explanation of their operation and an excuse to taste OP straight from the cask. The shop continues to evolve.
  13. Love Hellyers Road, and when in Burnie we catch a public bus out there. When my grandfather was around, he loved good quality single malt whiskeys, and he rated theirs up there with most of them. I don't know if they still do them, but they did a short tour with tasting for a few extra dollars, where you could pour your own bottle of OP from the cask.
  14. Like your the emails in your inbox, just email agencies and ask what is going cheap. Let them do the searching for you. Knowing when and where is not the most expensive option for us.
  15. Name changes not being permitted just means you can't swap passengers. A clerical error can be corrected, just make sure they get it done ASAP.
  16. Especially seeing delays in Brilliant Lady are due to them not being able to pay for fitout. That has them negotiating between the Caribbean & Australia for 2024/25, fishing for a deal that will max their returns. Whether they do or don't, they need to get out from under the couch and announce something so that those currently booked know where they stand for next summer, and can make other plans if they pull the pin. While the itineraries are on hold, they are still selling FCC's to unsuspecting passengers.
  17. As mentioned through the topic, they have a quota of solos in each cabin type, and once they have sold, they will not offer more. If you are set on the cruise, don't give up on it. Revisit it in June, and if there are available insides, they will be eager to fill with anyone, including exceeding their solo quota. If you have a good T/A, you can also get them to go into bat for you.
  18. Sure. They will be pretty true for your QLD cruise, but they will start switching back to US beers on the Transpacific. Not sure if they will pre-stock in Sydney or wait till Honolulu.
  19. Spin the globe and throw a dart.😁 Inspiration is an emotion. A search engine is a tool. Yes, many a wormhole ends up in finding a new inspiration, but then you know what to input into that search engine.
  20. Ah, but that is the basis of turning a dream into reality. Also probably why most agency tools are set-up in a way to assist you to book your dream vs telling you everything you could possibly choose from. A simple where do I want to go, then when can I go. Then it is just a matter of doing some homework & making a booking. Once upon a time we used to spend long weekends travelling with friends. A map of NSW was taped to the wall, and one of us threw a dart. We had lots of great times in places we wouldn't have given a 2nd look. Perhaps a bot isn't much more than a modern day dart - lots of possibilities, but without personal inspiration.
  21. Isn't that akin to asking which online travel agent has the best search engine? No comment. It is a piece of peas if you know when you want to travel combined with a home port or a ship. If you want a search engine to tell you when & where, maybe try a chat bot.
  22. Seems about right for cocktails. Wines by the glass had a lower cap. The prices I quoted are for wines listed on the app last Feb. We had premier. I will confirm current prices on Monday.
  23. Yes, attempts were made for each night. Was able to be seated once. On night 1 she could have scored a late booking, but it was going to be after her embarkation day travels bedtime. I do get that what works on other lines might not work the same and it takes a bit of adjustment to get exactly what you want, but she was disappointed by the lack of availability. Specialty restaurants on most of the other cruise lines are also near on impossible for short cruises too, so there are comparable issues there - except that Virgin has them included in your fare. Specialty restaurants on the other lines started with token charges to temper demand and their MDR's also have enough capacity to cater for everyone.
