  1. I tried code "CRUISEDY24' today (for $100 OBC) and clicked 'See Eligible Cruises'. The cruise I checked is on the list but the code did not work. I called HAL, rep said the code is only for Have It All package and deposit is non-refundable. Really? Where is the terms and conditions for that offer? I haven't found it yet.
  2. OP, I'm so sorry about what happened. I hope HAL will step up to make things right. I have an experience traveling with my brother on Japan Airlines from US to Tokyo. He must use medical equipment during the flight for his heart. Japan Airlines requires the doctor to fill out the airline's medical form disclosing details of his condition and specification of the equipment. They won't accept the doctor's letter. Along with that, they asked for pictures of the equipment and manufacturer's manual. Airline's special assistance department took 2+ weeks to review and approved him to board. We were lucky to find out their rules before travel date.
  3. Oops... bummer I just woke up too from dreaming of 2 discounted cruises. 🙂
  4. Hubby also has one 10% FCC but I can't use it while I'm in my account. Sounds like it's normal NCL only gives one person 10% off unless I ask them to apply both FCCs to another sailing. Thank you.
  5. Did you use one FCC for the stateroom and both of you received 10% discount? Or you used yours and she used hers on same booking to get 10% off 2 people?
  6. NCL has cancelled Getaway Europe sailings. My husband and I each received one 10% FCC. I logged into my NCL to book a similar itinerary on Pearl. I applied the 10% FCC toward the booking but it only reduced my fare 10% but not my husband's fare. Am I mistaken to interpret 10% FCC discount is for the stateroom cruise fare? If I am wrong, I will ask NCL to apply his FCC on the same booking. Do you think they will do that or tell me only 1 FCC discount per sailing? I did not finish booking the cruise. Hope to get some advice before proceeding. Thank you.
  7. Thanks for your input. I'm one of those people who attract mosquitoes. Friends would joke about having me at BBQ and yard parties because mosquitoes will attack me instead of them 🥴. That saves them from bringing out the citronella buckets, lol. I use spray, wear long pants and long sleeves. I still often get bites on the uncovered parts of hands and neck/face, the bites sometimes swell up to uncomfortable hard lumps. I don't want to risk getting Dengu Fever, the disease causes mild to severe symptoms. I wish cruise lines would put out alerts way in advance when any disease is known for the ports. That will help cruisers decide if they want to book the particular cruise.
  8. News of major outbreak of Dengu Fever in Peru and other SA countries. WHO has reported millions of confirmed cases. US Embassy in Peru Ministry of Health reported in June 2023 of 9400 cases per week. July's news was also as bad. Our December 2023 cruise will go to 3 ports affected by Dengu Fever. Final payment date is early September. I requested Celebrity to allow me to move my nonrefundable deposit to another cruise without $100 per person penalty. They refused because it is too early to tell if the disease will affect these ports in December. I am disappointed at their response but I will pay the penalty instead of risking our health. What are your thoughts of this disease and do you feel the cruise line's response is typical?
  9. Nonrefundable fare has penalty of $100 per person if we change to another cruise before final payment. Would paying this penalty allow us to choose Refundable fare for the new cruise?
  10. The confirmation is from the agency. It states NRD $900, credit $200. It also has a chart of penalty amounts for cancellation before sail date. It shows 'Non-refundable $900 before final payment date'. That's what caught my attention first and that prompted me to look closer at the invoice. Thanks for your input wrk2cruise & 39august. I feel more confident to ask the agency to change the invoice. I appreciate your quick response! 🙂
  11. On my last cruise in early 2023, I paid $200 for Book Later Deposit which allows 6 months to select the future cruise to put the deposit on. I contacted Celebrity few weeks ago for information about a cruise and they asked me to call the travel company. Apparently , they have assigned the deposit to the same agent that I booked the last cruise with. I do not have an assigned agent at the travel company and the ones I spoke with seemed to be unfamiliar with the features and benefits of Celebrity's Book Later Deposit because they kept asking me for $900 deposit. This issue was resolved after a few phone calls and they accepted $200 as nonrefundable deposit. When I received the confirmation, it shows 'Nonrefundable deposit $900 and $200 credit' was applied. It looks wrong to me because I think it should say Nonrefundable deposit $200 was paid. In the event if I cancel the cruise, am I out $200 nonrefundable deposit because my booking's nonrefundable deposit was $200? Or do I owe the normal $900? I would like to gather more facts of the rules before spending more time on the phone. Please chime in on your experience. Thank you.
  12. We were in an aft family balcony for S. America/Antarctica in early 2023 on Celebrity Infinity. We regretted to have spent extra $2300 for an aft balcony because we naively expected to have views on 'both sides', especially for Antarctica. We started the Antarctica day in the room but moved up deck because we couldn't take unobstructed photos of the beautiful scenery from balcony due to cabins on both sides of us and the balconies below us. From aft, the straight ahead view is both sides but we cannot see what's ahead like from a side balcony. Cape Horn was smooth but crossing Drake was a little bit rocky. We did not feel the aft location affected the level of bumpiness, no extra noise that bothered us. During the long cruise, we did not use the balcony as much as we would have liked to because weather was either humid hot or very cold and windy.
  13. Good to know! I have been wondering about this. Thanks for info. 🙂
  14. So glad to hear NCL came through honoring coupon. We were not so lucky and I gave up trying after numerous calls and emails to customer resolution. NCL cancelled August 2020 sailing, gave us FCC10% discount. They extended expiration date and I finally used it to book April 2023. They later cancelled that cruise too because it was chartered. We received another FCC 10% expires end of 2023. When I used it for a summer sailing, they only gave 10% off one person. Here's their funny math, BOGO for first person is $2000, they split this fare into $1000 for each person. They only discounted $100 (not $200) off the first person. Their lame excuse was we cannot use FCC for both persons in same room. I said....BOGO first person is $2000 so I'm expecting $200 discount using the FCC. They said only 1 FCC for each sailing for the FCC owner and not for the other person. So...essentially, FCC 10% is only 5% discount. Does this sound right?
  15. Hi mscdivinia2016, May I ask what type of points you used? I would like to learn about upgrading with points. Your strategy is so clever! I have airline miles/points, Chase Ultimate Reward, credit card rewards to cash out, etc. Are any of these eligible to exchange for NCL upgrade?
  16. CAcruzfunatic, thanks for posting pictures of long boat and wooden motorboat along with tips to exchange money. I'm still looking for Penang excursion. Traveling with mom, she is not that interested in temples and monuments. Penang Hill seems to be a good compromise except ship's only excursion there is to Teddyville. We rather spend time elsewhere instead of teddy bear museum. I'll keep looking.....
  17. Ifplenore, thank you for valuable info. 🙂
  18. I would like to know as well. We will be on RCCL Spectrum. To my surprise, ship excursions are about the same prices as non-ship tours. I booked Phang Nga Bay by wooden motorboat. It's an 8-hour tour including lunch for $75. They also have the same tour by long tail boat for $70. I can't find pictures to see the difference between these 2 types of boat. I won't have local currency. Do shops or cafes and street vendors accept US$?
  19. Thanks so much for sharing your slot experiences. Hope I get lucky too. 🎰
  20. Thanks for the list Cruisestitch. 39august - I have not visited cruise casino but have done that on land few times years ago. What is the process onboard at the slot machine? I assume it'll ask me to put in room card, follow instructions on display. Does it allow me to state the amount I want for playing that slot? So if I put in $300, it will charge my room and it will be paid with available OBC, right? Will that transaction require me to play that slot for a period of time? If I play slot for 10 minutes and I win $10 or lose $20, will I get a slip to exchange remaining $ if I quit playing? TIA
  21. I confirmed with onshore team today that Celebrity's OBC can be used for gratuities onboard but cannot use it to prepay. I will have a tough time using the rest of OBC after paying gratuities. X rep said I cannot use OBC to pay for deposit on future cruise, is that correct? That's what I was thinking about doing. I read on RCCL board people have successfully cashed out nonrefundable OBC on slot machines. Has anyone done that on Celebrity ships? If so, how to do that?
  22. Ethanol95, Please post menus and food pictures of Silver Dining Room if you have time. Appreciate it! Thank you. Sorry OP for hijacking your thread.
  23. I paid with credit card for specialty dining for 6 people soon after we booked cruise. I re-fared with OBC. I want to use OBC for specialty dining that I had already paid with credit card but the restaurant is fully booked that evening. Celebrity rep suggested to cancel the existing reservation and then try to use OBC to rebook the time that I free up. Being a party of 6, I don't feel lucky to give up the reservation. Has anyone successfully switch out payment with OBC when you're on board? Also, can I cancel pre-purchased item such as WiFi when I'm on board? Or does it have to be cancelled before cruise?
  24. I'm looking at J4 junior suite. It's no where near $4300/person. I'm wondering if Silver Dining Room will be much different than main dining room menu. If it is buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner which includes limited selections from menu, then I will not book it because mom does not do well on buffets due to her walking limitation. I'm not Diamond status and don't expect the perks.
