1. The problem with all your "questions" is they are based on hysteria and "WHAT IF" instead of the actual facts of the situation.

This particular health care worker's risk of contracting the disease as part of her job is so small that she presented a greater risk of spreading noro-virus than Ebola on that cruise.

You are NEVER going to get a policy that limits the travel of people simply because of their occupation and what MIGHT happen.

But to counter your hysterical rantings that might provoke fear in others: had this person started showing symptoms of Ebola they can easily anchor the ship off shore. A hazmat suit can be sent in for the patient in order to evacuate her without further contact with others. The room can be sealed until it can be properly decontaminated.

Seriously your imagination is out of control. There were less hysterical fears coming out of people who flew on a closed plane with a nurse who DOES have Ebola now than what is being said in this thread about a passenger who is not showing one symptom of ANY illness let alone Ebola.

Let me put it this way, on another forum I use one poster asked if it was still safe to fly to America as they have Ebola now, that's how daft it's getting at times, there are actually people that think the whole of the U.S. is now off limits.

  2. The " Free drink packages" offered just now in the UK certainly look built into the price that's for sure. £2100 pp for a weeks Carribbean cruise with flights and a hotel for 3 nights. I could book a 14 night cruise with 3 nights in Miami and flights organising it myself this November for less than that.

  3. Not bothered reading through the thread because if it's like every other one I've ever read on dress code it will have deteriorated into a bit of a slanging match. Formal night dress code for us has always been dinner suit for myself and fancy dress for my wife ( by that I don't mean a clowns outfit). We think that's the traditional way and we both like to dress up on a cruise. We realise many don't like to dress to that level these days but we do and will continue to do even if I end up the only man in the room in a dinner suit. After that it's up to the cruise line to enforce dress code or not, of the lines we have cruised with Cunard were the strictest.

  4.
It was Summit New England/Canada September 21 - October 5th.

Prices for Inside Guaranteed Cabins were holding around $1,399 - that's where we booked about 7 weeks before sailing. Exactly 2 weeks after that they dropped to $1,099 but only for 2 days, went back up, went back down, went back up, showed sold out, went back on, etc. I was getting a headache trying to follow it.

The Thursday evening before we left (we left Sunday morning), prices for insides, outsides and verandas all dropped. Now how many people can book a 2 week cruise that close to sailing?

I called my TA and she tried to upgrade us. We weren't asking for money back. They said no, this was for new bookings only. She said she saw availability and to ask when we boarded. We asked twice (pier agent and guest services). They said they were sailing full.

You figure it out because I can't.
You would be surprised.
  5. Because we start planning more than a year in advance I tend to watch what the more or less identical cruise is doing the year before. I know the cruise we are going on next November and I know from looking at this years it's not going to sell out early. Even taking away any possible 123 perks a guarantee cabin is £600 cheaper for the two of us next to the same cruise next year. We actually don't care what cabin we have, indeed the guaranteed inside 12 class cabins on deck 3 offered now are the ones we would have probably booked anyway. Looking at prices many of these " perks" seem to be built into the price anyway.

  6. I doubt you will find a single mass market cruise line where some people are not complaining about cuts in one way or another, along with more upsellng, it's the way the cruise industry has gone from say 30 years ago when you had a certain section of society that were cruisers, it's now mass market and in some cases Butlins at sea. Different world unless you go way upmarket and can pay for it.

  7. I only wish I cruised on EVERY line. :D

    Entertainment is subjective.

It just would be nice if they offered more venue options to fill your days and/or nights whether you choose to or not.

I do have to apologize' date=' Celebrity doesn't have the "worst" entertainment, it just lacks the amount on board. [/color']

Surely the entertainment is based on the clientele, not cruised as yet with Celebrity( first time next year) but given the loyalty they must be doing something right.

  8. I'd be tempted to wait as flights won't be released yet either so you can't really cost it.

In September, I booked the cruise part for an April cruise with an American travel agents as they offered the free drinks and flights separately. If I'd waited until this month, the UK are now doing the same cruise with drinks and I might have saved a few £'s. I've booked our flights and hotel with a UK TA.

I'm no expert but would imagine that deals will be run. Depends how desperately you want to know it's booked?

I'm not worried about knowing its booked just whether to book the cruise part now and pick the exact cabin we want or wait a few months and take a chance should an offer come around, while obviously no one knows for sure when offers may come I just wondered if posters could remember if they had come up later in the year or early next year over the last couple of years or whether the 123 deal was generally a one a year type thing that never repeated, thanks for at least replying with a decent post though.

  9. Hi all, not been on here for a while now. We are intending cruising with Celebrity to the Carribbean next November. Now I could book the cruise part just now and book the flights and hotel myself later but seeing the deals on offer such as 123 for Med cruises next year wonder if Celebrity may still offer something for our cruise at a later date. I'm guessing no one knows for sure but if it was to happen would this usually only apply if you booked a package including flights and hotel. In truth I usually book individual parts of our cruise separately to save some money ( doing a dummy booking a cost of £76 for a taxi from the airport to the airport hotel, a five minute journey to a hotel that offers complimentary pick ups is quite funny).

    Many thanks in advance.

  10. It's like many other things on a cruise these days. it goes towards keeping down cruise prices. If they dropped this and many other money making activities on the ship the cost of a cruise would double.

I am quiet happy for people to book the ship excursions, buy in the shops, purchase photos, play bingo. I don't want to do any of these things and it lowers what I have to pay to be on the ship.
