  1. Currently booked for two cruises back to back starting in March 2025. The first cruise is Hong Kong to Singapore and the second cruise is Singapore to Sydney. My question is, will we be able to get off the ship for a few hours in Singapore? Just want to be able to do some sightseeing near the cruise port. I don’t know what kind of problems this causes with immigration in Singapore. Also would like to easily get back onto the ship and not sure what problems this will cause. Fortunately we have the same cabin for both cruises.

  2. Booked for two back to back cruises starting in March 2025. First cruise is Hong Kong to Singapore and second cruise is Singapore to Sydney. Just wondering if Celebrity is able to get lower cost air fares than what we can get on our own? Looking at either business class or premium economy fares. Would fly to Hong Kong from either Rochester, NY or Toronto Canada to Hong Kong depending on air fare costs. Very interested in hearing from others regarding your experience with Celebrity Air.

    • I assume that you are visiting Kobe is via Regent Explorer? If this is the case, Regent should be providing free shuttle bus to a central downtown area. I would suggest calling Regent customer service and try to find out where the drop off and pick up will be in Kobe.
  3. Going on our first Regent cruise coming up on April 1st. Made all our excursion choices almost a year ago. I have viewed YouTubes recently which showed some excursions previous passengers have taken. I wish I would have thought of this information source a year ago. What I am wondering, do past passengers find that some people cancel their original excursion choices either on board or just before boarding? To be more specific, are these cancellations for excursions that had a fee associated with it? Also do past passengers find that Regent adds some last minute excursions?

  4. Have previously taken over 20 cruises on other lines. Coming up in April will be our first cruise on Regent. I know that many services and amenities are included in the cruise fare but I am wondering have other passengers received any on board credit without having to ask their travel agent? Also curious as to what the commission is to travel agents who book cruises with Regent.

  5. Tube amps, thank you for for your report on on your current Japan cruise. We go on our first Regent cruise in April of next year as well as our first Japan cruise. I have been to Japan several times years ago on business. Certainly anxious to read further reports on your experience both on the cruise and land excursions. We too are also doing the Regent 3 day pre cruise excursions. I know Tokyo is a very large city with a lot of people so that could create a hectic situation if you were in a tour group. Looking forward to your further reports.

  6. Leaving to do a land portion before cruise on 8/24. Two months ago the app showed green lane then two and a half weeks ago we were blue land and a week ago my QR code showed up . Now today I checked and there is nothing. I suppose this might be normal as excursions and dining close down being so close to departure. Would be nice of Princess to show a message stating this if in fact it is the case.

  7. Have sailed previously on Viking and Oceania where there are no formal nights. I assume if you eat dinner in the buffet that formal dress there is not a requirement? What about a place like Alfredo’s or even the specialty restaurants, is formal dress still a requirement? Very used to country club casual type dress for dinner.

  8. Going on a cruise departing Southampton on 8/24. Right now I am green. Frankly not sure what the difference is between blue and green. I did request that I pick up the medallion at the ship because I thought it was ridiculous to have to pay $10 for it to be shipped to me. Seems like a lot of nickel and dime type activities going on with Princess. This will be my 4th cruise with Princess, may be the last.

  9. As I originally stated this Japan cruise will be my first Regent cruise. As a result I wouldn’t switch cruise lines based on a luggage tag. Having worked for a public company for 34 years I understand making a profit. I have sometimes received numerous multi color brochures from Regent in one week. It seems that a reduction in this marketing strategy should be able to save themselves money without affecting their customer base.

  10. You have got to be kidding after paying a lot of money for a cruise? I will be going on my first Regent cruise around Japan in April 2024. I thought this was a top luxury cruise line. I just got off my 3rd Viking cruise and they send us leather luggage tags for every cruise. Maybe I should have cruised out of Japan on Viking? I would have saved money to put toward another cruise. Now luggage tags and leather bound documents are not everything but I agree with previous posters, reduce the color brochures in the U.S. mail.

  11. Very accurate comparison. We have sailed on Viking 3 times and most recently on a Scandinavian cruise last month. Going on our 4th Princess cruise around the United Kingdom next month. Our last Princess cruise was 5 years ago so it will be interesting to see how Princess stacks up. We are also Elite level on Celebrity and have sailed with Oceania 4 previous times. I look at Viking as a boutique type cruise line and Princess as a mass market type cruise line. Viking cruises tend to be very quiet, their entertainment is very poor, they could use a casino at the very least. The bottom line here, it is great that we have many choices and when we choose a specific cruise it comes down to cost, itinerary and cruise line.

  12. Thank you all for the replies. I have bought foreign currency from my local Chase bank. Since I don’t care to buy too much foreign money I was just interested if this was an option on Princess. Have been cruising with Viking recently and there is no foreign currency exchange on board.
