We really like Giovanni’s did it several times on allure do not recall seeing pizza on menu , I do believe there are two types of Giovanni’s on rccl, we hope Jamie’s which is on our next cruise is as good.

I ordered Eggplant Parmesan at Jamie's Italian on one of the ships. Jamie does not make this dish "breaded and fried". It was a mushy mess. Just a heads up if you like Eggplant Parmesan.

Because I don't know what they have done with the food or plate.  Did they cough, drool, sneeze, or whatever on the plate and/or food?  My fingers never touched my mouth or nose, my food never made it back to the serving line.  There is no question about that.  It seems, like others, that you are more worried about the optics, not logic.  And yes, on a cruise, it is all about me, that's what I pay for.  However, I still use common courtesy(ies) and respect other's rights and social norms.

I wonder if you and others get grossed out when the head chef pulls out his tasting spoon, tries what the underlings cooked, wipes the spoon off with a napkin, and then puts it back in his pocket for the next tasting.  Or how about the underlings cooking the meal and sweating all over the food and talking/yelling at his/her buddies and spit spewing out of their mouths?  And you think that because I take a FF or two with my fingers from MY plate and put the FFs in my mouth without touching my mouth is gross?  LOL

Oh my, that is not a pretty picture in my head now. I will NEVER eat in a restaurant or on any cruise ship again.

    Nah, just kidding. LOL.

Wow! I never added up how much we get dollarwise in drink vouchers! On our B2B next month we’ll be getting $1,680 on the first cruise and $2,100 on the TA… 🍸🍷🍹🥂🥃

I have and it is unfortunately getting worse by what I’ve seen. It was good during Covid when they served the food in the WJ, but then that stopped. Anyone who is even a slight germaphobe will notice things like that.

Actually, the Covid virus is not transmitted via food as it is not a food borne organism. The only possible way to be exposed to Covid when you eat is if you inhale the food into your lungs. I suggest you not do that though.

Norovirus is foodborne so it is transmitted via food that you consume. So, when the buffet food was served by the crew, Noro was being contained, not Covid.

I'm going to be very disappointed if I'm not allowed to open my mouth unless I'm at my table.  I've been known to munch on a few fries, especially if they are dropped fresh and hot.  Haven't had to lick my fingers yet.  I just wipe them on my clean shirt.

Oh, I'll admit it. I also will put a French Fry in my mouth while I'm walking around the buffet. I am very careful though not to touch my fingers to my mouth, just the FF. Actually, that is really easy to do.

Well then, you would have to also give kudos to the elderly man who sat at the table next to us and as he finished his meal, used his finger to run across his teeth to remove excess food.  But wait, he wasn't really finished, he walked over to the desert, picked up and replaced several selection before settling on a piece of pie.  Came back to the table, ate the pie and cleaned his teeth once again with his finger.

That is the exact point I just posted about. LOL.

Lucky you.  Maybe more people are aware of hygiene after 2020, but seeing people eat something off their plate and then reach for a serving device has been around a long time.  I'm glad that other people are finally noticing, but to think this is new, well....

Regarding eating off of one's plate while traversing the buffet.......people seem to be put off by that but think about this.............

After filling their plate at the buffet, people sit at their table, eat off of their plate with utensils and their hands, licking their fingers and such. Then, those same people get up from the table and traverse the buffet again with those contaminated fingers of theirs and pick up the serving utensils. It is just the way it is. That is what dining in a buffet is all about. What can you do besides not eat at a buffet if that stuff really bothers you.

The rolls used to be much better….they were crispy, not anymore….BUT the pumpkin seed ones are my favorite…..except for savory bites which I haven’t seen in many years.

funny how rolls are my favorite food in the MDR. I can’t think of any other thing that stands out

Uh oh. You just answered my question. No savory bites. That just may be a deal breaker. LOL.

That's not the app, it's a link to a digital version of the actual paper compass in PDF format... just shared it b/c it's not widely known about and some may find it useful.

The app does not have the actual paper compass; it has its own version of a daily schedule.

    Good to know. Thanks.

  9. Hubby was watching a YouTube video and the vloger said the paper Cruise Compass on Wonder OTS was no longer available. I had read, recently, on Cruise Critic that if you go to Customer Service and request a paper Compass, they will give one to you. Those of you who have recently cruised on Wonder OTS, is the paper Compass no longer available?

DW will not wear nice jewelry onto an island or at a beach, but she will wear to dinner on board.

She will leave jewelry on the desk, as we both are confident even the room steward would not confiscate.

So if you are not afraid to wear it at home, why not on a cruise?  I can’t see much of a difference.

    Eddie

Why not leave your jewelry in the safe? That is what we do when we don't wear our jewelry on a cruise for whatever reason.

For years we have told the steward that the towel fairy would stop by each night and he might leave a tip if he liked the towel animal.     We did this instead of tipping at the end.  And the animals were fantastic.  By the end of the trip the towels were spectacular more and more each night.

And we tipped twice more than usual and had great fun. The last seven day trip, the steward built an alligator with an apple in his snout and it was so big he had to put it in the middle of the bed.   the steward could not wait to see if we liked it, he told us they were no longer permitted to do animals every night, but since we were in a suite he gave us one every night and he enjoyed our appreciation of his work and he felt certain we would not complain.     We have done this for years, but I guess we will have to stop on our next trip since rules have changed.   so sad.  What is the UEUP?  Unlimited Elevator?

Years ago, our cabin attendant surprised us with a life size towel man lounging on the sofa, holding the Cruise Compass and wearing hubby's sun glasses. He had clothes on too; T Shirt and gym shorts. We were blown away.

Pretty sure you can ask for, and get, Ice twice a day. They're cutting back on the 2X FULL service visits, NOT abandoning us entirely. You'll never get anything you want without asking 🙂

We chose evening, since we're always out from a bit before dinner, through dinner, and usually something after dinner, so there's plenty of time for them to do their thing while we're out. Breakfast doesn't (usually) take long enough since we usually come back to the room to take morning meds, etc and they seem to always want to come while we're there.

    Roll with it. It's a VACATION 🙂

Do you get 2X Daily "maid" service at home? I sure don't.

Maid service is all day long in my house. That would be me. LOL.

I often told my steward once a day please. I dont like the intrusion.

I am solo I admit, but not once have my trash cans overflowed lol. As far as visiting my steward in the halls I can still do that, dont see the difference.  I must be super neat.

We have never had an "intrusion" on any cruise we have been on and that includes other cruise lines besides Royal. We always remember to alert the cabin attendant with the provided signage when we are out of the cabin. We also would chat with the cabin attendant and let them know when we will be leaving for dinner and so forth. It was always a pleasure to leave in the morning, come back and have the cabin pristine with fresh towels. Same for the evening service.....leave for dinner and have the bed turned down with a towel animal waiting. Those days are gone. That is just the way it is.
