  1. purchasing photos of someone else technically not a big deal. I mean think about it...you could just sit around taking photos of random people all day long until someone noticed you and then said something to you.

Carnival doesn't care who is buying their photos.

sure it's a bit creepy if someone wants to buy someone else's photo. Take it as a compliment I suppose lol.

At the end of the day, if someone wants a photo of you for whatever reason, there are a million cell phones nearby lol.

you are correct however, that if someone else buys your photo, you don't have one to purchase for yourself if you wanted to.

  2. Cruising on the Magic next month out of Galveston.

I'd like to fly in the day before and fly out the day after to alleviate the stress of worrying about plane schedules. Can I still utilize the Carnival transfers if I stay in a hotel in Houston that will shuttle me to and from the airport?

So, I'd fly in Saturday, use a hotel shuttle back to airport on Sunday and take Carnival transp. to Galveston. And reverse the following Sunday. What I'm worried about is that Carnival will ask for my flight information right? Which is on different days than embarking.

    Thanks in advance!

Yes you can. Enjoy your cruise!

  3. I am considering a trip to the salon for an updo for formal night.

Can someone share their experience with me? I've never been to the salon on the ship. I've only been to the spa.

I'm most curious about hairstyles for formal nights.

I'd love to see your photos too, or any ideas of how to do my hair, med/long hair.

    Thanks in advance.

  4. If I wanted to say "no", I would. I don't have a problem with his request.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

PESH, That is awesome! I am watching it :D

Litchfieldparkcruisers: Thank you for the info. I wondered about the sizes.

    Swalton: Awesome idea... cheaper too!

Tomsprincess: I sent an email but haven't heard back yet.

I wasn't trying to be snarky. I was offering advice and suggestions to your problem. Sorry if it came of that way.

  5. We live in San Diego where everything is very casual.

People wear shorts wherever they want but I have never understood the term "dress shorts".

I don't think it is possible to have "dressy shorts".

With that said, the reason we like Carnival is because it is also very casual so wear what you like and enjoy!

    I'll explain.

cut off denim shorts...are shorts...not dressy at all.

gaberdine wool shorts, silk shorts, linen shorts etc....dressy.

it is possible to have dressy shorts...

I would believe that linen walking shorts are in fact, dressier than ragged cut offs. Wouldn't you?

    lol.

I do know that shorts are not allowed on elegant night.

  6. One can always just say "no" to requests such as a 4 year old wanting a carnival robe lol...:)

Also, another option would be to just pick a robe up at the store and explain when he/she gets bigger, you can wear the one in the room or we can buy you one.

A third option, and my most fave, would be to take a Carnival beach towel and make one. It's a simple thing...make it Poncho style, or a wrap style. Either way, it would be carnival and simple to make.

    Good luck.

  7. I was wondering why Carnival doesn't have the Burlesque shows and the Magic shows that they used to have. The first cruise I took was in 2002 and they had Burlesque dancers. I believe it was on my second cruise that they had the magic show one night. They need to go back to the better entertainment. This is just my opinion.

I don't know that Burlesque shows would be considered better entertainment? I suppose it depends on the viewer correct?

I love the current shows. I love the Epic Rock. I thought it was great.

I don't expect Broadway, but even then, I have not loved every Broadway musical I have seen either.

Beauty is all in the eye of the beholder.

  8. My wife, daughter and I are going on our first cruise in May. I saw that we can each carry a 12 pack of 20oz drinks.

We plan to check our luggage. I was wondering if I can use a rolling cart as a carry on to transport the sodas. If so, does anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive cart to use?

We are leaving from the port of New Orleans if that makes a difference.

    We just use a suitcase.

then when it's over, we fill it up with the junk i bought on vacation.

  9. Just know that a lot of that information is now outdated and incorrect.

Some of it is just "myths".

2 top tables cannot just be created because you want one. If space is available, you will get one. If there are no 2-tops left, they are not going to build you a table for 2 just because you tipped a man who already makes 100K+ a year a lousy $20.

Some of this is good advice/tips. But some of it is really outdated. People just need to be aware of that.

  10. I have learned you cannot please all the people all the time.

I personally don't care for that type of music except in very small limited doses. I enjoy the dj except for when the music is too loud and songs i don't care for. Isn't everyone that way? Don't get me wrong, I'm a kid of the 80's and love loud music lol...but only the kind I like.

I for one would not sign it because I don't like it. But if it worked, and the band came back, then I'd live with that and just put on my earbuds lol.

I applaud you for taking the steps to try to make a difference for something you care about.

  11. length doesn't matter for your carry on because it can be long and skinny. it just cannot be wide...it has to fit through the x ray machine.

when flying, that's a different story as the carry on's have to be able to fit in the overhead bins.

You can take any size of luggage you want on the cruise. There are no rules against it. Only their suggestions, and that's only recently in the last few years of cutting costs.

The porters are typically paid $1 per bag. if we all cut our baggage in half, the porters pay gets cut in half too. it's a double edge sword there lol. trust me the porters WANT you to have luggage. no luggage = no job

take what you want. enjoy your cruise. there are not limits on the size EXCEPT for your carry on...it must fit in the x ray.

  12. The funny thing is they got rid of the Mongolian Wok to put in Guy's burgers.

The wok was a huge disappointment for me...i guess i'm use to our local Mongollian grills here at home that really do a great job.

I don't miss it one bit from the ship. the food was not worth the wait for me as they didn't carry all of my fave ingredients i'm use to. dh however loves it, but he's happier with Guys.

I agree, it does seem to be a waste of space. What a shame.

    thanks everyone for the info.

  13. The only thing sexier than a man in a tux is a man in uniform.

Sent from my SGH-T989 using Forums mobile app

Allow me to upgrade this statement a bit...

the only thing sexier is a man in uniform or tux is out of uniform or tux  :D (oh no she didn't!) :p;);)

  14. I'm considering ordering some flowers to be delivered to my cabin for my up & coming cruise. I think they would add some great color and smell hopefully.

I'm specifically looking at the deluxe mixed flowers.

I like roses, but I think they are overrated sometimes lol..

Anyways, I was hoping to hear from someone who has ordered them or received them and what their experience was.

    thanks in advance.

  15. I'm debating whether or not I should carry my bag on the boat, or check it with the porter. What do you all think is best? Has anyone had their luggage get lost? Does that happen as often as it does when flying?

I'm also wondering which to do because I'll have all of our toiletries in my bag, and between hair products, lotion, sunscreen, etc., there will be a lot of little bottles. I will *not* be trying to sneak any booze on board, but am concerned that having all those bottles will trigger an inspection and cause my luggage to be delivered late. Should I carry it on to avoid that? Sailing out of Miami.

    Thanks for your advice!

If you carry your bag onboard you will be stuck with it until your cabin is ready. It's a pain to fix a plate for lunch, keep up with luggage etc. I would not check my bag with very important things. I have a carry on back pack that we use. we keep our camera, dh's medicine and all paperwork/passports etc. in there. everything else gets checked.

Now...having said this, if you are platinum or have FTTF, then no problems, you get to go straight to your cabin and put away your bag(s).

I've never had a problem with lost luggage, and never heard of anyone not getting theirs. I'm sure it happens, but in my 10+ cruises, I've never experienced nor know anyone who has.

Have fun regardless of your choice.

  16. I'm sailing Triumph on a quickie 4 day in September. It's been a few years since I sailed Carnival. I've always worn a tux on elegant night but I understand that dressing up has become a thing of the past. Just wondering if ANY men are still dressing up on elegant night. Anyone cruised lately that could enlighten me?

DH has two tuxedos. Just picked up from the tailor yesterday. I love it when he dresses up. Makes me a happy wife. And we know what that means....

happy wife = happy life....and it means other things too lol.. ;)

Only one thing better than seeing dh all dressed up...the opposite happening. ;)

I say go for it. Dress up and enjoy it.

FYI, I am 42 and dh 45. This is our 11th cruise. No, being elegantly dressed is not a fad or a thing of the past, or only for old people.
