  1. Pet peeve #1..

.Please do not bring on HOT coffee filled to the brim.without a secure top. I have been spilled on,, nearly spilled on, and was once spilled on on departure day so I smelled like coffee all the way home,,,

Also wish folks would not carry overly piled up plates of food ( often more than one) onto elevators

elevators are narrow and usually quite full...coffee and food are an accident waiting to happen!

    #2 heavy perfume/cologne...

    #3 obvious body odor....

    I guess I have never encountered #1.

#2 and 3. I've also never noticed. Too much attention paid to? Of course, I understand if that would happen. Different strokes for different folks.

  2. Whew! Been watching too much 35 56 :D

    Huh? I'm just a Banker ;).

Thanks Cle. As always you're all over it.

As to the online TA question: too many instances of some online TA's falling off the face of the earth after initial booking. I'm into hassle free and don't go chasing OBC. Not worth it to me.

  3. You clearly do not get it. As numerous people have pointed out, including myself, that "free" beverage package is indeed built into the cost people pay. Can you find an isolated exception to the rule based on specific timing / itinerary - sure, but that is just that - a very isolated incident

She also drinks the kook-aid as we all know, it's not dollar for dollar. I don't think the retail price is added. Obviously knows nothing about marketing. I'll guarantee the cruise lines knows the true cost of the package on average. In my world, my average alcohol expenditures is probably $70-$80 a day. Thus we never buy the package. The house would come out ahead on us, day in and day out.

  4. I forgot to mention what I beleive to be the very worst elevator manners..the big squeeze. That is what I call the situation in which folks insist on squeezing into an elevator when it is obviously already packed to capacity.

I tend to be claustrophobic anyway and when folks jam themselves into an already packed elevator I can hardly breathe. I have actually left an elevator when too many people selfishly pack in.

Not a big deal unless one is used to empty elevators. Claustrophobia happens to be your problem that others cannot recognize.

Welcome to the city :). Is guess I've never noticed. I hold door open, let them leave then enter. I'm not buying there are rules. I hold door open for ladies and gents. Go first down stairs if they trip. I'm next to street for same reason. Logic dictates, not local. Same logic holds to let all off as there's more room. It ain't that hard.

  5. We enjoyed 'Select' on our one and only Celebrity cruise and have selected it for our 2 next cruises booked. That being said:

    • Sometimes minutes was 10-15 even if we made a reservation
    • Can't comment on this one as it was our first Celebrity
    • Some of the tables were very close. That's why we often chose to wait for a better table
    • Despite trying to get the same wait staff, it didn't work for us

I love not having a schedule so will tolerate any other inconveniences.

Agree. I never do traditional. A cruise is my schedule.

    Service, no different.

10-15 minutes, I find a nearby bar and drink

Close tables. Welcome to cruises, ignore them or meet them.

I request staff by name, sometimes, sometimes not.

It all works in the end.

  6. When sitting by the pool I usually have my backpack for towels, suntan lotion and kindle and can throw it in there. All other times I have a small wristlet purse that can fit the card, my small camera and lip balm.

I carry my backpack everywhere - it's my man purse:).

Wife packs in swim suit top or my backpack. It ain't hard - don't overthink.

  7. Seems like X is going through some goofy times. A lot of complaining. Their website is not up to other standards, promotions cause confusion (123), they seem to go out of their way to alienate new cruisers.

Am I getting old and crotchety or do other cruise lines make the total experience better?

    Thoughts?

  8. Celebrity is a little weird with their show times. On some nights the late diners eat after the show and the early diners eat before the show. However on other nights the shows are after dinner and these are usually formal nights. The shows on these nights will usually be around 8:30 and 10:30.

I do agree with the above poster and book early, that way both shows may be an option

I reseRched my upcoming EQ cruise. Show times were really weird. They were all over.

  9. Again I disagree. You need to look at the facts. You will pay the same price or highter for the identical cruise if you book when the Beverage Package promotion is not offered. That means you are not paying any extra for it when you are smart enought to wait until the promotion is offered.

Wrong in my case. When the promotion ceased, price dropped. AND this was a cruise that sold out. It wasn't dollar for dollar, but still dropped.

The fact is you get nothing for free. I could have booked other cruises for less but the drink package made it more painless .

  10. Since marijuana is legal in Seattle and Alaska, if I smoke marijuana in the smoking areas of Celebrity will anyone object? I'm considering booking an Alaska cruise.

I live in the greater Seattle area in Washington State. I had friends visiting from New York. We went to the local marijuana shop. They were told yes if your from out of state you can buy marijuana here in Washington. But it must not leave Washington state. So smoke it or eat it here in Washington.

SEATTLE -- Nearly two years after voters in Washington state legalized marijuana, the industry continues to evolve. Next week a SODO company will begin selling marijuana infused edibles to licensed retailers in the Seattle area.

As to Celebrity. I don't use tobacco or marijuana. So I have not looked into their rules.

    So why do you post?

  11. Wholeheartedly agree! :D Gotta love it when the beverage packages are referred to as being "free". They are absolutely built into the price of the cruise. As the old saying goes - nothing in life, worth having, is free.

The prices on the cruises that will give you the "All Inclusive" benefits are out of sight!

Agreed. I prefer the term painless, not free.

  12. Since marijuana is legal in Seattle and Alaska, if I smoke marijuana in the smoking areas of Celebrity will anyone object? I'm considering booking an Alaska cruise.

I suspect not since the smell is much more pleasant than cigarettes or cigars but I don't know if Celebrity has a policy about it or not.

Uh.... You need to ask? It's also legal here and there's trash cans in the airport, you can't fly with it. AND it's a no-no on a cruise. Odd question though as I've seen coke on board but M J is a definite no. Don't risk it, R

PS: I still love the smell.

  13. Blindrid - perhaps white wine in the suitcase and red wine in the carry on.

I don't even drink alcohol so am being a very kind friend and taking a bottle for my friend I am travelling with.

Do the rooms have bottle openers? I assume they are considered a no no to be taken on board. Then again maybe you can buy wine that doesn't need a bottle opener,....... time I got educated about wine I guess.

I always pack an opener but the steward will normally cover you.

RE white vs red good call:)
