  1. Exactly. If they have to cruise at 20 mph instead of 25 mph, most passengers won’t feel a difference but you aren’t getting to Canaveral in a day and a half. I do wonder—this seems to happen a lot with the 7-day itinerary. It should either be an 8-day or they should drop Canaveral altogether.
  2. That’s rather defensive. They are either cutting a port on multiple cruises because of engine issues, a desire to save fuel, or due to incompetence booking the ports. I wonder which company Royal wants to be here.
  3. We go to Disney a lot (DVC members) so I’m ecstatic to have a new ship on these short sailings that are easy to add on to a week at Disney. We were on Indy last year (and it was great, of course), but I’d love a new, Oasis-class ship with more activities for the kids. We are doing Wonder after Disney next year but it’s a splurge for our 15th wedding anniversary. Otherwise, a 4-nighter would be perfect. Utopia costs more than Indy did but they are competing with the Disney Wish, honestly. Far cheaper than Wish.
  4. Seen the fares to book? I think the guests are paying for it…
  5. When we were on LoS in July, it was extremely foggy to and from Halifax, so they blew the horn roughly every minute for days. It was definitely loud at the mini golf!
  6. Agreed although I read that guests on the Promenade also witnesssed this so I gather it is accurate. Still, I’m not sure why other guests need these details.
  7. Family members are posting online about this on Facebook. Looks like a teen boy. How tragic. My heart breaks for them. It’s every parent’s worst nightmare.
  8. Anyone know when Bermuda cruises from Bayonne usually release? I see the various types of Caribbean cruise listed on those charts of past years but not this particular type of itinerary. Also wonder which ship will take that and the Canada routes in 2025. From what I can gather from this thread, Liberty will be elsewhere.
  9. If the scope of work changes, a cruise immediately before or after dry dock would be the first to go. I also avoid inaugurals if they require a flight.
  10. Surprised there wasn’t a chair hog to keep the chair down… Only joking because (apparently) no one was hurt. Thankfully. Someone could have been killed here.
  11. I had an injury on Grand Cayman and didn’t have a passport. It was no problem getting home. Quick phone call. Not every island even has an embassy.
  12. If a child is that difficult to control, I dare say a cruise isn’t a good vacation option. Perhaps Great Wolf Lodge?
  13. No one has ever been on a cruise with a birth certificate and been unable to fly home. Don’t be overly dramatic. Find me the former American who was left behind in Nassau and forced to live his days as a Bahamian… The fear-mongering is crazy. If that were truly a risk, the U.S. State Department wouldn’t allow cruising with a birth certificate.
  14. Yeah, but as promised, you'll be able to see the person you're racing!
  15. Exactly. I don't particularly wish to go on the same ship again and again either. Thankfully, there are quite a few ships in Europe right now. Just sail on a different one!
  16. We need as many Effectors shows as there are Fast and Furious movies lol… To be fair, Effectors II was more enjoyable than Tap Factory to me. Not a high bar, I realize! What if the choice was Effectors III or Cats?
  17. It could theoretically swap with Wonder. As someone else said, Utopia won’t have enough entertainment for a week-long sailing so I imagine it will stick with short cruises for many years. They could put in Effectors III and call it a day lol
  18. I think, among Oasis-Class ships, Wonder and now Utopia are a nice match for PC and might just stay. Their whimsical theming and the presence of a playscape work really well sailing from the House of Mouse. Given that they are directly competing with Disney Cruise Line’s flagships, it makes sense to have these two sail from PC. About the only switch I could see is moving one of the two further south and Icon up to PC at some point. Also, will either have to go to Europe? Won’t they be able to dry dock in the Bahamas?
  19. I went on the 3-nighter 7/1/22-7/4/22. Felt no different than a 7 nighter. A ton of families with kids wearing mouse ears and some groups with older people without kids. No groups of people in their 20s. They are putting in a ship with slides and a literal playground in addition to another ship with slides and a literal playground. It’s clear who the target demographic is from PC.
  20. Um…no. I’m not. These are clearly Disney add-ons and I’ve sailed on these 3/4 nighters from PC. As others have said, they’re not party cruises. I was on Indy for 4th of July last year. Felt no different from a week-long from Florida.
  21. Newer Royal ships are too expensive to be party ships. College kids are on Carnival. They aren’t paying $900 for a 3-nighter like UotS will undoubtedly command. These sailings are clearly meant as theme park add-ones with the hope that the following year, families will just skip Disney and take a longer cruise.
  22. Honestly, we enjoy Wonder (sailing her again next year) and would gladly add a 4 nighter on to a Disney vacation in the years ahead. People already spend a fortune to visit the parks so marked-up short cruises on a new ship will easily sell out. No shortage of money from Orlando tourists and I’d happily follow relatively stressful theme park days with this. Nassau will just be a day at sea for me! This will be big competition for the Disney Wish.
