I'm hearing nothing but raves for the Grandeur crew and staff during this cruise. Sorry to hear the ship sustained a little damage.

To our friends in Bermuda, hunker down. Our thoughts are with you.

I'm onboard Allure, and we are still to be docked at Labadee tomorrow. I'll update tomorrow. We are currently in Falmouth, and they received no hurricane damage....just some rain. Port looked the same as it did a couple of weeks ago.
Awaiting your update and, thanks. Great news on Falmouth which struggled to attract tourists after the last big blow.

Here is a post from Facebook - Looks like they did okay.
Probably wont know about pulling any ships into there for a couple days. I am sure they will have to survey the dock and surrounding area.

Thanks for the link.

Our hearts go out to our friends in the Caribbean affected by Matthew. The people of Haiti have suffered much amid recent natural disasters.
Any reports on how the storm affected Labadee?

Grandeur of the Seas: built to last. :) She's taken a lot of wear and tear over twenty years, while keeping her fans safe and happy.

We booked a drink package online before embarkation because a discount was offered. Packages can be a good value either way, depending on how many days at sea you have. :)

We really enjoyed Nachi Cocum. It is very relaxing. We're on Liberty of the Seas in January and have already paid a deposit to go back there.
Clean, friendly. Get there early. You can even get a beach side massage.

I would say the smoking ban has been largely successful, especially in regard to aft cabins.
The policy is aggressively enforced. We've seen a trio of security personnel knocking on stateroom doors to check reports of a smoker.

Sounds like a cruise we'll have to try. Thanks for all the info! :)

Isn't there a Buffett song in which he makes fun of cruise ship passengers?
If you can't beat 'em....

We justed received D+ status on our September cruise. Our new pins were in our room with a chilled bottled of wine - our new benefit:):)
Very nice. Congratulations! :)

Always on the lookout for cruise related games and will have to check this one out. Thanks! :)

I highly recommend Bernard's Tours. You get a great tour of the island with stops at a couple of beaches and other sites, plus a cooler full of beer and rum punch! We had DJ Dave on our last trip there in 2014 and will be going again in March 2017.Bernard's tour, the best..
One of our best excursions in twenty years of cruising.

The cabins all the way forward on Empress can have an obstructed view as the ship makes port and fellow cruisers line the rail. We loved being up front though, despite lots of motion. :) Our sheer drapes were in use, most of the time.

We found, the more sea days you have, the better value a drink package can be, especially if the price has been reduced. :)

The Solarium Bar offers speedy service during the day. :)

What a thrill it must have been to be aboard the SS United States at speed.

Hopefully they will restore a bar on the ship and we could have a cold one, I worked for US Lines in 60's ( 1st job) and every Christmas a fellow employee would do there Christmas cruise as more or less a social director he told me his main job was to tell bartender what time to close
Sounds like the chap had LONG hours! :)

Cafe Press offers SS United States Christmas cards. Just go to their website and search SS United States Conservancy. Happy Holidays! :)

Haha!!! Good point.
I've been practicing my drinking this wkd so I can keep up on the cruise..
I wonder if they have rum Chata. Love it with coffee!
I'm with you on that! My next cruise may be months away, but I'm already in "training." :D
-
It may be a little like preparing for a time change (Standard Time, Daylight Saving Time.) A week before the cruise, delay bedtimes, but don't oversleep and miss embarkation!
-
Thanks for the feedback. I will try it out. I am not worried about Nassau or COCOCay because they are closer to the Carribean, I am just hoping no rain.
I visualize no rain at all! ;) Okay, MAYBE one ten minute shower.
-
I would say six months out. Thirty days away and the anticipation is sweet! The week before embarkation is a blur because of work related preparations to be away.

A member of a future cruise Roll Call who was on this Grandeur sailing reported broken Solarium windows and light damage to port side balconies. No one was hurt.
The Solarium reopened at the end of the cruise, they reported.
