Morning Avril, he’s not too bad Thankyou. Seems to be mainly a nasty cough.I’m bemused by everyone and their online shops as we just can’t get a slot!
My parents offered to get us some shopping but I refuse to let my 80+ parents get shopping for us!
They have their vaccines today so it would be awful if they caught it so close to getting protected. Thanks for asking Avril. We had a video call with our son and grandson last night so that cheered him up,
Hope he continues being "not too bad", Sue, and that you dodge it.
Have you tried Sainsbury's for delivery slots? Here there are always slots available with them and right now availability every day up to and including 22 January. Hopefully it's similar for you?

Sorry - I know the country has very stark contrasts today
Jolly good! Over in the east it's rained all day. Dreich, as Eglesbrech might say.🙂
Apology accepted.😂

Surely, if the lung cancer was the primary cause of death, that would be on the death certificate ? With Covid as a secondary cause, as it probably helped in the demise of this unfortunate person.
That's my experience pre-covid - the primary cause, then a secondary one if appropriate.
Have I imagined it, or are there two separate death rate figures, one where covid was the primary cause and one where it was mentioned on the death certificate as the secondary cause? Anyway, the horrendous number of excess deaths in 2020 is surely sufficient proof that covid is causing an enormous number of premature deaths, more than shown in the official numbers.

Take care, Sue, and hope John gets better soon - my daughter had it in the second week of December and is now fine.
Hope you manage to dodge it.

We watch Pointless but not too keen on House of Games.I would love BBC to bring back Eggheads.
Good job there's something for everyone - can't bear Pointless, love Eggheads. No idea why.
My Mother went on Fifteen to One about 20 years ago, when she was in her late 70s; got into the last three, then beaten by a computer question (by then she was registered blind so completely ignorant of technology). The question: "What is a palmtop"?

It's just done the same thing on this work laptop, so it's not me, it must be the site. I was using Firefox on my home laptop and Chrome on the other one, so not the browser either.
Hasn't happened here on desktop, laptop or 'phone (using Chrome).

When I was rich and single I had two or 3 cars on the go and one was immobile due to me tarting it up over a few weeks. I would always take the negative terminal connection off the battery to stop it draining power over time . I also carry a torch in the glove box and again turn one of the batteries the wrong way until needed, so they hold their power .
So I have the option of taking the negative terminal connection off the battery.
Think I'll take it for a run.🥴😄

Should I take the car for a run or would I be classed as just joy riding as I am not out of my house for any other reason . The run would be a non stop 2 mile, am I being reckless or being reasonable ?
I was just pondering the same dilemma.

That is pretty much what I got too, the actual rate has now decreased along with the banks, going to need a bit more luck this year.
That's why I was very surprised when I got £75 - that's probably my lot for 2021.🙂
What's the record on here historically? £150 for me,

I'm somewhat in the back of beyond as well, though on the other side of the country, and haven't heard of anyone locally who's had their call-up either. I feel for your Father - the older you get the more limited your remaining time is and, not unreasonably, he wants to make the most of it. Fingers crossed for him (and you!)

One small positive for me today.I found out that I have won £25 on the Premium Bonds. A deposit on a Radley handbag perhaps but helps the 'feel good' factor amongst all the doom and gloom.Going for a walk shortly and hope to spot some birds including hopefully a kingfisher which we saw a few days ago.Hope others on this forum have small positives too
Here you are, Ann, they've got a sale on: https://www.radley.co.uk/sale/ I like the large red tote, though you've have to put a bit towards it on top of the £25.
I've just worked out I got 1.4% on my bonds last year, and not taxable, so not bad compared with savings interest rates in general, and a bit of fun every month.

That’s not too bad overall, but Wales is well behind the other home nations unfortunately.
It's excellent, but sorry I didn't delve any deeper into the figures - was saving that for a special treat later.😉

They can. According to the Our World in Data: https://ourworldindata.org/covid-vaccinations
So yesterday we were fifth in the world for covid vaccinations per 100 people.🙂

Yikes!
It only seems like yesterday that the government stopped us holidaying anywhere with a figure above 20.

Recent history has taught (most of) us that the more adamantly our government denies something is going to happen, the more likely it is that it will.🥴
