  2. Well our plan didn't work out. When we arrived I asked at Embassy Suites about the Uber pick up to NYC. She proceeded to tell me that you can order it but it will be most likely cancelled. She gave me a card of a private car service. Went to the room and tried to pre order Uber for the next day with no luck. I then called the private car service and arranged it for the next morning. It came with a hefty price and he came back to pick us up later and even waited 45 min when the tour ran over. These 2 seniors survived and we had a great time.
  3. Thank you we have used Uber at various airports with that type of pick up. None that have been that far from the hotel we are going to. Now my concern is are Uber drivers willing to take a ride that is 70 miles away. I just want to make sure they are available. I know it could vary in price $50-150.
  4. Need all information about getting a Uber at IAH to Seawall hotel, where is the pick up ouside Delta baggage pick up area and if they are reliable. Same info needed for picking up at cruise port to IAH, where is pick up and reliabilty. If a porter can drop you at the pick up area or is a tram is needed to take you to a remote area.
  5. That's the reason I am asking for some 1st hand knowledge. Several years ago we had bad experiences with cruise line drop offs. Once after an excursion with airline drop off all the luggage was taken on a separate truck and dropped in one spot outside with no supervision. We had one heck of a time getting someone to help get us to another terminal with all our luggage. Another time we were dropped at some side door and they said "this is it". I had to walk a long way to get a luggage cart and then try to figure out where our check in was. We are at an age now that we need to get it figured out before hand & I usually get a wheelchair for DH to get to the gate. Delta doesn't fly nonstop to Hobby.
  6. Sailing on Harmony next year out of Galveston. Those that have purchased a departure transfer from Royal to IAH I have some questions. Does the bus stop at each airlines entrance for departures. If not we would be flying on Delta where would we be dropped and how far would we have to walk & drag out luggage to get to the airline check in and bag drop check in.
  7. We have a reservation at the Hilton Galveston Island, 5400 Sewall Blvd. I just spoke to the hotel and they said they have a shuttle to the port for $10 pp. Now I need to find transportation to the hotel from IAH that doesn't break the bank.
  8. We will be in need of transportation to Hilton Galveston Island from IAH. Can you make a one way request with Glaveston Express or could we do a round trip with return from cruise port to IAH? Trying to figure this out before I book my flight.
  9. I always do this and never pick a cabin I have not seen the layout. There is a small fee, less than $10 for a 1 or 2 year membership, to view the photo's but it is worth every penny.
  10. I like to book about a year out always choose a refundable deposit on a Junior Suite. At our age and with some slight health issues you never know what will happen. So if we have to cancel for a health reason are we out the deposit refund? We'll have to rethink this.
  11. I just got another response from Mona that all the dining is already assigned if I don't like the location check with the maitrie'd to see about changing it. There is a table number assigned I'll check it out once onboard. Such a pain.
  12. I emailed her and she responded within one hour and said she sent the request to the ship.
  13. I guess I will be standing in the line to speak to the Maitre'd on Thursday. I'll be taking a copy of the email I sent.
  14. Thanks everyone I have a plan I hope it works. Call Uber at 7:15 and hopefully arrive in about a hour to hour and a half at our meeting point. Stop at Gregory's cafe for a quick coffee and muffin and meet the tour at 9:30. If we're stuck in traffic I'll be praying.
  15. Oh thank you feeling much better now. Our tour starts at 10 but it is requested to be there at 9:30.
  16. The bus sounds like too much for us. DH has a slight mobility issue so we will have to use taxi or Uber. Do you think we will have a problem getting a Uber at 7-730?
  17. What time is considered rush hour? We need to be there at 9:30 and plan on taking Uber about 7:30. If we're early that's fine will find a coffee shop to wait.
  18. Uber or taxi from Embassy Suites, Elizabeth to Times Square area for a city mini bus tour. Our tour is at 9:30am on a Wednesday how much time should we allow? Two seniors here we would prefer to be at the 9:30 start time early or very early.
