  1. We'll be in port from 4-11 pm. I'm looking for something to do after the forts close. I found a walking tour that starts at 6pm but the reviews have been mixed - either very good or very bad. Not sure I want to risk what little lime we have.

  2. I had planned to walk around Old San Juan and see the forts on our own. I didn't notice that we don't dock until 4pm. If we are off the ship by 4:30, can we see one of the forts on our own without being rushed? The web site says that they close at 6pm. What would you do after that? We are a family of 4 - Mom and Dad, DD - 21 and DS - 18. We'll be on Independence of the Seas in June 2015. Thanks for the help.

  3. My husband and I sailed on the Stilletto with Action Charters in March. We had a great time. They got us to the turtles before most of the other boats got there. We had our own snorkles and masks, but they do provide them if needed, along with fins and snorkel vests. We opted for the shorter sailing that didn't include lunch. When the time came, they got as close to the shore as they could, about 10-20 feet from shore , and we walked off the ladder at the front of the catamaran. They had a driver waiting to take us back to the ship. Later in the cruise we had another excursion with some of the people who had stayed for lunch - they said we missed a good meal.

The only "glitch" we had was that we weren't on their passenger list. I had copies of my emails confirming our reservation and they got us on without a problem. We paid the balance in cash at the beginning of the sailing. I wouldn't hesitate to sail with them again. Don't worry about the CC number. I doubt you'll have any problems, but even if you do, you can contest it with your CC company.

  4. Be sure you have enough time to do everything on Royston's tour. We were in port from 7:00 - 3:00. We met at 8:00, toured the island and got to the last stop at the beach and had lunch. One couple wanted to go back to port for a little shopping, so he took them back and then came back to the beach for the rest of the people on the tour. On the way back, we got stuck behind a semi trying to go down a steep grade with sharp turns. It really slowed us down. Royston ended up cutting through neighborhoods to get us back to the pier on time. We were back on the ship at 2:40 with a 2:45 deadline. Needless to say, the ride back was tense. In hind sight, we should have started earlier and/or skipped the beach.

  5. I can't get my head around the fact that it is not permissible to discuss travel agents or tour companies on this site when you can discuss insurance companies. Seems like the same thing to me....commercial interests.

I think it's because the insurance companies don't (can't?) promote themselves. If travel agents could be named, some one could pretend to be a client and then write glowing reviews about their services to drum up business.

  6. My husband and I are booked on Equinox in March for 10 nights. We currently have a veranda cabin on deck 7. For $100 pp, we can change to a concierge guarantee. This will be our first cruise with Celebrity. We'll have 5 days in port and it's a working vacation for me, so a lot of my time on sea days is spoken for. Are there many concierge cabins that are "less desirable"? Some of the perks that we'd gain are nice, especially since it's only $10 a day pp, but we'll have a great time with or without them. Is it worth the price and the risk of not choosing your location? Thanks for your opinions.

  7. or do something else. I currently have a reservation on Action Charters for a three hour sail and snorkeling trip. For $20 more, I could add lunch and another 2 hours of sailing. Should I try to do that, or should I look into something else on shore? Tha three hour trip ends at 1:00 and we are in port until 6:00 so I assume we have to be back on the ship by 5:30. Thanks for the suggestions.
