Most of Venice cannot be directly access by cars. So, no, you cannot get a cab "near" your hotel. But near is a relative term.
From your hotel, options would include:
1. Arrange a water taxi through the hotel to pick you in a boat directly in front of your hotel on the Grand Canal. This will be the most expensive option, but very memorable.
2. Walk along the Grand Canal for a bit. Go over 2 bridges. Walk into Piazzale Roma, the transportation hub mentioned in the above post. From there, you can catch a taxi or bus to the airport. This option will be more affordable (especially if you take a bus), but you'll need to deal with the walking distance, bridges and your luggage to get there. Look at Google Maps and see the distance. You can even use Street View to see what the walk would be like. Some people might consider this to be a "near" walk.
If it were me, as an able bodied person who travels with manageable luggage, I would just walk it. But that's just me.
I just looked up walk from Hotel Carlton to the transportation hub. I think its doable, Google maps says 5 minutes walk. I am not a spring chicken (lol) Will there be either water taxis or buses available at 6 am or do I need to make some kind of reservation?

Thanks for you help. I understand our visit coincides with that of the Venice Film Festival.

I have learned that on the Beyond, passengers can open the cabin door and control the curtain and lights on the phone. Is it possible to order drinks at the bars with the X app as well?
All of this can be done on Princess, including ordering food

We took the Tuscan Farmhouse experience in August 2022.
We passed the hills where they mine the chalk fog the statues in Florence.
We rode on the carriage which took us down the track to the farmhouse.
We were seated outside under canopy’s for the meal.
At the end of the meal we were encouraged to go indoors to buy souvenirs, but I found them expensive.

What would you like to see or do in Tuscany? It is a HUGE area, so setting a specific goal would be good. I know a private tour guide who could do a tour for you, but knowing what you’d like to see or do would help me make recommendations. This is the tour from the ship, I would like something similar, maybe longer than 5 hours. our adventure begins with a journey from La Spezia through picturesque Tuscany, dotted with medieval villages, its hillsides brimming with the lush vineyards and fragrant olive groves. Delight in the sights, sounds, and aromas of a traditional and welcoming Tuscan farmhouse. Board a horse-drawn carriage for a tour of the area, as you learn about the glorious fullness of the land and its gifts to those who labor here. Meanwhile, focaccia bread has been baking in the oven and is pulled out - warm, comforting, and flavorsome - when you enter the dining room. Sit, taste, and marvel at this creation while you sip white and red wines, paired with tasty Italian antipasti. Return to the ship refreshed and renewed from this taste of Tuscany

Have you checked the port site of La Spezia on CC? What about your roll call; are you on that? Is this a Celebrity tour, or one you found? Cinque Terre is easy by train from La Spezia, so check your times carefully, not to mention number of people on your tour if it is Celebrity. Portofino is absolutely gorgeous, so I hope you get to see it, as it is very walkable too, just small. Are you tendering or porting in SM?
The Tuscan Farmhouse is a Celebrity Excursion. I have search everywhere and this is the only tour I have been able to find to Tuscany, we are taking Celerity's excursion to Cinque Terre from Portofino. I have tried Viatour, Get Your guide, etc. Open to suggestions for an independent tour to Tuscany .

Just learned that our June 2021 Empress to Bermuda cruise has been canceled as the ship has been redeployed. Very disappointed, love the Empress and was looking forward to cruising into Hamilton and St. George. Perhaps Empress will be sailing out 0f Europe. I hope she is sailing somewhere as part of the the RCCL fleet.
Jonathan
What exactly does redeployed mean?

Obviously you have never been to, much less, lived in Germany. Or married into a German family. Or worked with a spouse who worked in the German health care industry.
In other words, you are talking out the side of your mouth with no real knowledge of what you say and just prefer to bully others. Now that the facts are clear you can carry on.What does this have to do with the Empress of the Seas? I don’t think this is the forum to discuss this topic

I am sure Royal would rather be sailing as all of us would .I have had 4 cruises cancelled at this point. It’s disappointing for everyone. They can’t make any money if they don’t sail. The pandemic Is like nothing else we’ve all experienced. No one could have predicted what the pandemic would have done to the world. People lost their lives, Jobs, homes, life savings, etc.
Royal has no control of when they can sail at this point. All the cruise lines have not been able to sail either.

Or Canada/New England?
We were originally booked on Vision for Canada and New England October 2020. Did lift and Shift to Empress with a similar itinerary for 2021
-
I’m booked 10/21, so far it’s just rumors ,nothing confirmed from Royal. We will just have to wait and see. I Lifted and Shifted from 10/20 🤞 that we get to sail . It’s a repositioning cruise I’m booked on , so there’s nothing else like this itinerary . If they cancel you’ll get everything back, FCC or Lift And Shift , it will be your choice.
