  1. Looking for recommendations for a reasonable transportation to  Gatwick for 1pm flight.I was told by NCL they can't guaranteed it on their shuttle, they wait til last person boards bus and they stop  at Heathrow first.    We need  transportation for 2 adults, our Cruise Critic Roll call only has 5 other participants. Any help is appreciate.  I know there is a bus and train, looking for shuttles or private car. The quotes I've gotten are very expensive.  Would be open to a shared ride. Thanks

  2. I'm also from Orlando, We flew to Rome in Oct 2018 premium economy on British Airways from Miami for about $1000.00. We saved about $1000  by booking from Miami rather than Orlando.   It was't direct, changed planes in London. We were lucky to catch a sale on American from Orlando to MIA, Economy for $150 round trip each .   I said I wouldn't do that again because on the return you are so tired and just want to get home. Our flight from London arrived an hour late and left 1 1/2 hours late. We then had strong headwinds so that delayed us more. We were supposed to arrive in Miami at 6:30 pm,  We had a 9:50 flight Orlando, which was the last flight to Orlando that night from Miami. We luckily were able to get luggage right away and we had Global entry so we sailed through customs.  We were at gate about 15 minutes prior to boarding. Not a good way to end a trip. Next time I'll pay extra and  fly out of Orlando,

I'm looking to fly to London in August and I also think flight are outrageous. Most of the direct flight in Comfort class are already book as of today January 11, 2109.

You might try Norwegian air also. They are cheaper if you go economy.

If you book Delta, you can count on them changing flights on you prior to your departure.  British Airways did change our flight time and they allowed us to change flights so we could make connection in Miami.  Delta also allows changes if they make the change.

  3. We are taking two cruises that disembark and embark in  Southampton ( RCCL and NCL) & neither has self serve laundry. We'll have one overnight in Southampton between cruises. Can anyone tell us where there's a self service laundry near the port please or at a hotel that has self service laundry. If we send laundry out it has to be in by 8;30 to get back the next day, this won't work, since we won't be  at hotel by 8;30 TIA.

  4. I’m going to Cuba on NCL . Can you buy the visa from the ship and take an independent tour. Wanted to take tour in vintage cruise convertible but too expensive from ship. TIA

  5. I’m going to Cuba on NCL . Can you buy the visa from the ship and take an independent tour. Wanted to take tour in vintage cruise convertible but too expensive from ship. TIA

  6. I’m new to NCL . If we buy Visas from NCL can we book independent tours in Havana? Do we have to obtain our own Visa to book independent tours   How to book your own Visas for     Cuba ? TIA

  7. I understand, but just in case will also say that my sister and BIL a few years ago, with no experience, navigated the train to Florence from Livorno port, did sightseeing in Florence and took the train back to the ship -- no problems. Also, any prepurchased tickets to the Accademia are "skip the line" tickets....

One thing you said does concern me. It can't be right that a taxi from your hotel to the train station would be 54 euros -- that is outrageous for a distance of 2.5 miles! Taxis only charge 48 euros from Rome to the airport.... Can you point out where this info comes from?

Yes. Thought 54€ was outrageous too that came from cab company . See their response below

    Buongiorno,

from Hotel poli to piazza della repubblica it take only 5 minutes by car.

Our rate at 6am in the morning is € 54,00.

    Regards

  8. Yes pre cruise. We'll be in Rome 3 1/2 days prior to sailing. We are newbies to European travel and feel more comfortable with a tour. I was just wondering if anyone has personally experience one of their tours. At this late date all the other tours to Florence that we want via high speed train are already sold out. There are some that use buses, but the bus is 3-4 hours each way. Too long of a time on a bus for a day trip to be worthwhile.

They do provide a ride to the train in the morning, tour in Florence and lunch. It also included skip the line admission to the museum. For us the extra money is worth it. I checked on a cab and early morning the cab ride from hotel(2.5 miles) is 54 euros. We don't want to stress out trying to get to station, buy tickets, etc.

    I appreciate your input.

  9. Just booked 2019 Mediterranean cruise. The price of Soda Package, is now $11.49, was $8.50.

Today it also has the same banner on our sailing, 20% discount of onboard prices with the price of $11.49, and I think you have to add tax and gratuities.

Sometimes I think RCCL goes fishing to see if the market will pay this price.

We were just on the Brilliance on a Baltic tour and they offer a Tour of the Crew Quarters for a fee. I was standing standing next to the Cruise Director and he was laughing about it with another crew member. This was the first time they heard of a Crew Tour. I think they like to "test the waters" to see what the public will do and what they are willing to pay for.
