  1. After the final payment , will I be safe then. Or will I have to check up on it until we leave for FLL and still worry

Changes can happen anytime. We got upgraded on Emerald two days before sailing (luckily we loved it!) Keep checking as often as you like and if it does happen call ASAP.

Good luck & good cruising, Steve

  2. Think of the air leg of the trip more for your convenience...if Southwest gets you there at a good time for you or has more options you might like, or (as in our case) your local airport has a lot of Southwest flights and is only three miles away then you chose well, even if you spent a few bucks extra.

  3. All of our Halloween cruises have been in the Caribbean.

The ships celebrates it and go all out.

Quite true in the ships. I meant that the Caribbean citizens do not share our love for Halloween, so there isn't much for costumes except pirate garb.

  4. Losing the balcony would be something to complain about.

If you are booked in a balcony cabin you will NOT be "upgraded" to a window mini suite or window suite on the ships that have them, no matter how many categories higher those cabins are considered. Has been reported as Princess policy by those in the know.

I think OP is worrying about something that will not happen. If by some miracle it were to happen OP could & should call Princess ASAP and get back to a Balcony.

  5. We went to Florence, which is quite a long distance from Livorno, in 2002. The ship's tour was "Florence on Your Own". The bus dropped us off & the guide told us to return to the same spot at the appointed time. It gave us all day to explore, see David, eat gelato at Vivoli, etc. The streets of Florence are stone, and you would want sturdy shoes. One of our bus-mates wore high heels and had a broken shoe two steps from the bus.

Also from Livorno others went to Pisa to see the tower...they found it dull as that was about all there was there.
