  1. I am curious...

To the cruisers with young children who have been comparing Disney and Carnival.......If you were NOT cruising with your children, would you cruise on Carnival or Disney?

We can't wait till our kids become adults so that we wouldn't have to take them to a Disney cruise. They think they are too old for it now (hehehehe). I'm not a WDW person, I'm not much into the crowds, heat, long lines, nothing to do but walk around at the park. But I'll take a Disney cruise over any other cruiselines. Yea.. a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. Just the whole atmosphere is different. I'm not really into meeting the characters but there's just something about being on a Disney cruise. The moment you walk into the ship you know this is going to be great. Don't forget about Castaway Cay, especially the adult beach area, pretty much going to have the whole beach to myself.

  2. I don't remember changing my dining hours. I booked awhile back for a July '15 cruise and had late dining. I just checked online and I was put into early dining. Now I had to go on the waitlist. The problem is that there are about 80 of us that are going to the cruise. We all booked late dining with the travel agent. Don't wanna be eating alone. Now I have to do some calling...

  3. Sorry about the confusion with the pricing. They were quoted on different dates. I was more interested on how/why the taxes/fees/port were different. All in all, not much difference on the purchase price, just curious...

This was the test price quoted on Carnival website a few days ago. Prices have gone down a little bit.

    Carnival Website 4 Travelers:

    $2,846.00

    Taxes, Fees, and Port Expenses:

    $479.80

    Total: $3,325.80

This was my purchase price about a month ago.

    Travel Agent Website 4 Travelers:

    $2,280,00

    Taxes, Fees, and Port Expenses:

    $1,108.40

    Total Cost:$3,388.40

  4. It has probably been addressed before but why are there 2 different tax/fees/port expenses for the same ship, date, category? but at the end of it all, the price is pretty much the same.

  5. It's a TCM chartered cruise (Turner Classic Movies- with hosts Robert Osborne & Ben Mankiewitz)

Lots of classic movie fans & a cast of actors, directors, etc. A terrific vacation! This will be the 5th TCM cruise- 3rd time on the wonderful Disney Magic.

Thanks for the info. At least now I know to look for an alternative.

  6. Useful tips, Salamat! :)

I've been on other lines and I always ask if they can make pancit, sinigang, adobo or other Filipino fare for us. One of the crew actually gave me some sisig made from the leftover lechon. I was also able to get some San Miguel beer. So I asked the crew if they can for me. They said just let them know but I remembered there were only 3 of us. :)

  7. I forgot to add

    - o'sheenan is open for lunch on embarkation day, in case you don't want to deal with alot of people in the buffet

    - if you have kids with phones, download iconcierge when at home (don't want use data from the ship), i used it for texting and calling my teenage daughter. You know, she is too cool to hang with mom and pop. We only went to breakfast and dinner together. Only way to communicate.

    - if you happen to have dinner at around 9pm at Cagney's or Moderno, ask to be seated next to the window viewing the Manhattan MDR when the Burn the Floor group is performing. You should be able to see them. I haven't done it but it made sense.

    - you never know where the sabrett hotdog guy is, where's waldo? no chilli though. yea, not the same as the "dirty dogs" taste but...

    - you can pretty much do alot of things on your tv - make reserv, view your account, etc...

    - that rope thing is harder that it looks, sweating bullets because it was winding as hell and I'm 200lbs. :D

    - when I got an error on the safe, security came up to check it out, the only thing is that we never called them. Big Brother???

    - don't be shy to order more than 1 appetizer or 1 main course. try different foods that you normally wouldn't order but make sure you're not allergic.

    - most of the crew is Filipino, so say "Salamat" meaning "thank you". They are always happy when you say that.

    - go to the crew talent show, gonna be surprised by this person singing.

  8. You go up the ramp on the left side, go towards the very end. You will see the porters and drop off the luggage. The entrance is there, 20ft from the sidewalk. You have to carry the wine and go in line. You go through the metal detector and an NCL crew will be on the left side, you give them your name and cabin number, you will see the $15 charge later on. They put a sticker on it. Then, you carry it with you into the ship. Depending on your cabin, you might have to walk to the very end of the boarding area. How many bottles are you planning to bring? If it is just a couple, put it in a carrying shoulder bag
