  1. That was Delta notifying you, as they should. Not NCL. There are laws for passenger compensation. I said "Yes, by law you will get compensated, but not the cost of the cruise only by whatever the law states. " I believe the topic was flight issues prior to boarding. After the cruise is not problematic for us, the holiday is over and I can wait to get back. Look, I am not going to argue or play games with you. As I said, there have been many bad experiences with cruise line fight bookings reported on Cruise Critic (not just the NCL forum). Glad it worked out for you.
  2. Yes, by law you will get compensated, but not the cost of the cruise only by whatever the law states. My point was, if booked through the airline you are priority over those booking 2nd and 3rd party.
  3. OK. Good luck. I have just read too many horror stories on Cruise Critic regarding cruise lines booking airline flights. You are not number one on the airline priority list.
  4. If you booked your flights with the airline, the airline has responsibilities to get you to the destination next available flight. There are federal laws. If you book thorough one agency (NCL) that passes you on to another (travel agency booking your flights) that books the flight you become the 3 or 4th party. Airlines will take care of their customers first.
  5. Our itinerary states: Sun 21-Jan 6:00 pm Mon 22-Jan 10:00 pm Dock OVERNIGHT IN PANAMA CITY (PCT), PANAMA Tue 23-Jan 5:00 am TRANSIT PANAMA CANAL, AT SEA I understand that the intention is to dock Sunday at 6PM, then stay all day Monday and depart through the Canal at 5AM Tuesday. I guess they have until January to get it all sorted out.
  6. Please elaborate on this.we are booked on a Panama canal cruise (LA to Miami) in January. We have 1 1/2 days in Panama before the passage thorough the canal.
  7. On our cruise where we were shuttled, yes, we had to pick up our luggage off the carousel and go to meet the shuttle bus. We had to tag the luggage at the port when we got our luggage off the bus. I think you need to have your bags to check in at the airport. They need to know if it is yours and if anyone else has had it. Security issue. Excursions can be checked when on board.
  8. There have been several horror stories about booking flights through NCL. NCL does not do the bookings, they do not select the airlines nor the flights and, it seems, they do not back them up. If flights are cancelled, it is your problem and if you miss the cruise, it seems that you are on your own. No compensation, a some have reported.
  9. If you are on NCL page and search for a cruise, look at ports of departure, San Diego is not listed.
  10. We had a great time on Celebrity. I also enjoyed NCL and loved Oceania and Scenic. We choose by itinerary and date. As far as prices up, food down and service slowing, well, unfortunately, that is a sign of the times on all fleets (ultra premium excepted)
  11. We took a private tour when were were in the region. The smaller the group, the more you will see and get out of the tour. I am also a huge F1 fan. The main street of Monaco is the circuit so, it is easy to see the track. The rubber from the race does not wash off so you can see it. year round. The curve at turn 5, down the hill around the Hotel Hairpin and into the tunnel is, well, more spectacular than can be seen on TV 🙂 To be honest, there is not much to see in Monaco, the circuit, the harbour, the Casino (which costs about 15 euros if I remember) and the castle. The drive from Cannes along the Med is very stunning, through Nice and on to Monaco. On the way back get your guide to drive up the side of the mountain and stop in Eze. A fabulous view of the Med, a fantastic garden and lots and lots of perfumeries.
  12. We booked, with our friends, a Panama Canal cruise with all the free at sea stuff and 2 for1 deposits. We got ours OK but for some reason NCL decided to charge our friends credit card the full amount right away. A serious shock to their credit card and it had to be paid. NCL apologized profusely and said they would refund immediately but it has now been 5 weeks and no refund. Many calls and many apologies but no refunds.
  13. Couple bucks a can plus 18% gratuity. I suggest you transfer your cruise to a third party agency and they will give you an on board credit.
  14. Yeah, we have done this several times. On an upcoming cruise we got $600 onboard credits. They do monitor the prices and will get you the lower price too.
  15. They have a Free at Sea promotion on right now. If you book through NCL and then transfer to a 3rd party booking site, the booking site will give you an on board credit. We do this all the time.
  16. Advertised?? Never saw charcuterie offered on any ship we have been on.
  17. I would not discount private tours. I suggest you find your Roll call and see if anyone is looking for people to join a tour group. I found bus tours spend a lot more time waiting than doing and when you do get going, you move at the pace of the slowest person and in Rome, lots of line ups to see the locations whereas private tours are often there first and get you past the lines.
  18. My point was that the ships are different and you could have looked at what Getaway had. Seems Getaway has more types of haven Suites than Viva. I suspect that the one you got on Getaway was the same sq feet at the one offered on Viva. An upgrade would be to a bigger suite, more sq ft.
  19. As they told you, the ship will not be ready so, they cannot give you the same. As I read your post, you had 3 options and you chose option 3. I am pretty sure they did not ask you to make the decision within a few minutes and had time to research what your options were. Cabins can be, and in some cases, are different among ships and new ships will be considerable different so, I am not surprised there is a difference between the brand new and a 12 year old ship. I also suspect that Viva has more Haven suites than Getaway and the equivalent suites were what was offered you.
  20. Makes no difference. No one at the dock pays attention anyway LOL
  21. Time to mellow out. I have my stance and opinion. Nuff Said
  22. Tsk tsk tsk. Guess you are right, you can buy anything 🤔
  23. Ya think? OK. LOL Enough already, if you think you are a better man, so be it. Don't hurt your arm patting yourself on your back. In my opinion, 20% is sufficient.
