  1. I agree. we always stay on Deck 9. Getting an espresso and sitting on the balcony while waiting for my spouse to get ready is reinforcing that it is vacation time 🙂
  2. Soft drinks, water and juices. Same as in your fridge. The drinks in your fridge are "free".
  3. Muffins and scones in the morning. Little sandwiches, cookies in the afternoon. The drinks, other than coffee espresso are the same as in your fridge (which are free as well). Is open late at night and very early in the morning, not sure about 24 hours but I think so. They often have some printed news. Access to a computer if you want to print boarding passes if you check in for your flights the day before.
  4. We are in cabin 91xx soon. Do they take requests? Can we ask for a few extra changes?? LOL
  5. So, the dressed down neighbour was more of an issue for you than the bad location??
  6. Is Marina refurbished yet? Or is it after Rivieria? I am hoping that the internet system will be upgraded during refurbishment.
  7. Not in sweat pants but been in them wearing shorts and Polo shirt. Even Parliament in Bermuda they wear shorts. And, I did say "at home".
  8. No, point was, to the the person I responded to, that dress does not "make the man". Also, dressing for dinner is no longer a "thing", on shore and should also be so on ship Lastly that "they are slobs and likely slobs in their entirety." is also a presumption and not necessarily so. For instance, I was very proper in meticulous Military uniform for 35 years and wore sweat pants or shorts and t shirts at home. If you saw me on a weekend or vacation, do you think I am slob in entirety?
  9. Quite accusatory. So, you are saying folks that spend a lot of their professional time in t shirts and jeans are slobs? Like Elon Musk? Richard Branson? Marc Cuban? Tim Cook? As easy examples. Or are they just people, like so many, that do not dress to impress?? You can dress anyone up.
  10. With cruising returning to its former popularity, maybe even more, I suspect there will be no "deals" for any nationality specifically. There may be "deals" or sales or specials but the bottom line is they will always be the American dollar equivalent. My Wife and I went on a Scenic river Cruise from Tarascon to Lyon this past Summer and it was geared to Canadians but there was no "deal".
  11. Great location. Noise is not an issue and the Concierge Lounge is on deck 9 as well so, that is a bonus.
  12. This topic is nonsensical. I have seen bathrobes on Celebrity at the breakfast buffet. I have also seen bathrobes in the Concierge Lounge on Oceania. Does anyone think any dining venue will turn away Elon Musk or Mark Cuban or Richard Branson or Tim Cook? They are all T shirt and jeans wearers most of the times, even when making presentations to their shareholders. Times and fashions change and as the on shore restaurants change, so should the on the sea cruise lines. Dress what you want but do not demand people to dress as you wish.
  13. I have been to a parfumerie in Eze and been less overwhelmed than in an elevator on an Oceania ship LOL Interesting how we have come full circle. Not so long ago everyone was discouraged to wear a scent and recently, it has gone back and even more intense 🙂
  14. My grand daughter wears ripped jeans that she paid more for that do for a pair of dress pants LOL Fashion, go figure 🙂 Having said that, dress "code" is a continual topic from some regardless of the cruise line. Generally from "older" cruisers comparing to the good ole days. Times change, fashions change and cruise lines have to stay current with today's values to get clientele. On land, there are changes as well and I do not see the need for cruise lines rues being any different than those on shore. For sure on shore restaurants will not let you in if over the line clothing is worn and so should the cruise line but, the notice I see on restaurant doors is most often "no shirt, no shoes, no service". So a lot of babble to say I agree basenji56, I really do not care what others wear, as long as it does not smell. (which opens another peeve of mine being overloaded/overbearing smell you coming down the gangway perfumes and colognes LOL)
  15. Was not responding to the cruise line.... Was commenting on the topic.
  16. Oh? They are in the business? Point was, because someone has been on lots of cruise on a particular line and they do not like the lessening of dress does not mean it should not happen. Stagnating also loses business.
  17. I cannot understand some cruisers obsession with who the Captain is. Do they also care who is flying their plane to the departure port?? Or who the Cruise director is? Why? Or the Hotel manager is? Again why?? I am also confused by the cruisers that are concerned/obsessed/upset with what I wear on vacation? It is my holiday. I can wear shorts into restaurateurs at home, why not on the boat?? Because you have been on 32 cruises does not make you the rules maker of the cruise line. We cruise for the itinerary, the variety of food because we don't have to cook it and. to wake up somewhere else every morning. Oh and we like a balcony cabin because coffee and a muffin in the morning while we wait for each other to finish our shower is superb place to be. Oh and a cocktail late at night under the moon is cool too 🙂
  18. Been on quite a few cruises and I find it interesting that the CD and GM are important to people.
  19. It is a small ship. I suggest a meet and mingle would not be necessary as just going to the Piano bar or Horizons you can meet people. If you are suggesting a Cruise Critic Roll Call meet and mingle, then all you need to do is mention it on your roll call, suggest a place and time and people may show up
  20. Maybe this can answer your questions? https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=3340
  21. Gosh, that is sad to hear. I am a huge Viator user and supporter. We have used them many many times all over the world. They are not perfect and we have had a few issues with tours booked through Viator and have never had any issues getting refunds. You can request to speak with managers and they are usually in the US. Viator is a Tripadvisor company.
  22. Includes whatever is on the menu and yes, eggs too. 🙂 There are other differences too. Primary difference between concierge and Veranda is perks and location as the cabins are identical.
  23. Really curious about your statements regarding a 12 day and 7 day cruise and that you as well as the cruise consultant had concerns about the "totally different crowd" and dreaded the 7 day cruise crowd? What is the concern and why?
  24. There are many repetitive questions. Dining, dress codes, O Air, make it to the airport after docking, loyalty memberships, waitlists, services on board and on and on. Almost all are not trolling but legitimate questions asking for recent experience from new to CC people. These people hope to get recent and quick answers from long time CC users, not to be called trolls. Sorry for being off topic and prolonging this discussion.
  25. We had a piano player that sang, took requests and was quite a comedian as well. Thing is though, the area is quite small
