  1. @cruiseny4life Did you have cabin 14182 or very close on Joy. I think it was you that told me to get the cabin you had if I was booking an HJ and it was gone so I booked the one next door. I'm asking because we sail in less than two weeks and want to know if the balcony can fit a lounger. If it can, I want add to my butler letter (thank you @Sthrngary) and add to the tip.

    Thank you!

You don't need any tags to get off first Haven or not. Easy walk off is first, never used any tags.... maybe we were supposed to. If you are in the Haven you can go to the Haven lounge at the set time, you will get a letter. It will also be posted at the concierge desk the day before. Just keep in mind you need to take all your luggage with you.

You can use the gold tags and do easy walk off but you will be waiting for your luggage. Don't ask me how I know Lol

Yes, thank you. We sail Haven on NCL and take our luggage off with us so we arent waiting for it. I was just wondering approx what time was first disembarkation.

The NCL ferry is exclusively for NCL passengers.
It only goes from the dock to St George’s and back…. No other stops.
It’s located directly to the right after leaving the ship. Get there 20-30 min early if you want an outside top-deck seat 😉

Thank you so much! Are there bars in St Georges we can just walk to when we get off the ferry? I think I want to do this when my dh is done with golf.

My favourite memory of Norwegian Joy was pretty much the same.  The first three mornings straight, I stretched out on a chaise longue in the Haven Courtyard, under a soft, balmy breeze, with a book I was eager to read.  The Johnny-on-the-spot waiter brought me a drink, and I settled down for a very pleasant morning.

It was a well-written book by a knowledgable author on a topic I liked.  Yet, after three days, I was only a chapter into it.  Because I always fell asleep after four or five pages.

This made me smile and could have been written by me for any trip lol. I just asked my ds’s gf for a book to take on my cruise and thought of your post.

  5. Thank you SO much! We sail on August 13 and I printed your Dailies!

I really appreciate your taking the time to post on your vacation and read every single word!

On a side note, my dh is retired NYPD from the 1st Pct for almost 20 years. Served us very well but we had my ds turn it down since it has changed very much.

Thank you again and you made me even more excited for our trip in almost 3 weeks!

Two weeks ago, as you were boarding the crew asked, “Norwegian Joy?”

    Literally that was it…

The ferry is supposed to be for NCL passengers only, though that was not being enforced.

From St. George, they didn’t even ask, people just boarded.

Wow! This is something fully new that I wasnt aware of that was offered.
Does it run all day and night? My dh is go,fing on the first day and maybe we will take a ride once he is back, showered and dressed.

    Thank you so much!

  7. Hi.

Leaving on Joy on August 13, cannot wait!

I know we can arrive any time staying in the Haven, but I do want to still do online check in and try to get the earliest time available.

Reading that online check in opens for all (or Haven) at 21 days, what time of day does it open? Midnight?

Has anyone been on the Joy recently and can tell me what was the earliest they were able to get off the ship when it docked back in the city? We live in driving distance and thinking we are going to have someone pick us up or car service and want to be off as early as we can.

    Thank you.

You can use the ship’s free Wi-Fi - meaning you don’t log in - and iPhone to iPhone works great.  At least it did for us on the Joy last week.  Same as if texting from home.  No pics or vids though.

When texting with an iPhone, look at the color of the text bubble after you hit send.  If the bubble is blue, your text was delivered via iMessage, which slips through without using your minutes.  If it is green, then it probably won't slip through.

    Thank you both!

I will be on the Joy and see if it works. I appreciate your responding!

Thank you so much for this level of encouragement!  Truly appreciate it 🙃  (See also why we are likely one and done with this cruise line)

I don't understand why you say this because you booked what you wanted, isn't that correct?
Perhaps I'm not understanding correctly but why are you one and done?

I also sail YC on MSC (a lot) and MSC also has upgraded bidding for balconies to YC.

I book what I want so I am happy with my vacation. If you don't want to "pony up" as you say for a different cabin, how is that the fault of the cruiseline making you one and done?

All of the Haven perks (e.g., butler, priority embarkation and disembarkation) are the same regardless of room.  Differences are in size and location of room.  If you search the Board, there's a lot out there about whether people prefer to stay in the haven proper (i.e.,  in the key access section) or elsewhere on the ship.  Seems to depend how much you want to be in the haven.  We love it so we booked a haven courtyard room on the Joy for August.  Oh, and there are also Haven spa suites outside the haven if you're interested spa access and have a double occupancy.

Hi! We sail Joy on August 13 and also in the Haven. Are you on that sailing? See you at the bar!

  11. I don't understand any of this but have a question.

I have an iphone and my adult kids and mom at home have an iphone.

I have the internet minutes that come with our FAS but we really won't be using it and reading this thread that doesn't matter anyway.

So, with everyone with an iphone is there an actual way for me to text my mom or adult kids while out at sea or do I need to wait to Bermuda, where my dh just calls Verizon before we leave and does the $10 a day thing for call/text.

    Thank you very much.
