  1. Actually, I have done neither, but while researching, I read that parking for the electric car can be somewhat difficult. FYI, we are sailing RCCL in February and believe it or not, I booked the hop on hop off (HOHO) cheaper thru RCCL then the website itself was charging. So, if you go that route, you might check Carnival and see if you find the same.

  2. taxi from airport to french quarter is 33.00

french quarter to port is 8-10:00

i put in taxi calculator new orleans and there is a place where you can put places in an see the prices

"jassypass" is a all day off and on for streetcars and buses is 3.00 for 1 day, can be bought in 1,3, and another (can't remember) increments. Go to norta.com and you will find where you can purchase them and all that, routes, etc

Beignets, can't remember, but will definitely get again :)

    hope this helps!

  3. Welcome to cruise critic! This site will become your best friend lol. 99% of the time ppl are very kind and helpful, so don't let the 1% that pipes in with a rude or otherwise comment deter you from learning all you can.

Gratuities - if you have already prepaid gratuities, you are not required to made any additional gratuities, yet if you choose to add to this for great service you may. As mentioned above, remember if you purchase drink(s), your gratuity is already added to the price of the drink, no need for additional there, again unless you choose to.

Excursions - As mentioned above, go to the ports of call and read what others are saying about the port. Always, always, always, allow enough time to get back to the ship before it sails away. If not, it will be on your own expense to catch up to the ship. Most excursions are good about getting you back in time, as this is how they make their living, so bad news travels faster then good news, therefore most always this is not a problem. For myself and my daughter, we have always booked with an independent tour company and not the ship. Usually, much cheaper, way less crowded, and have never had a bad or negative experience. I check this site and tripadvisor.com for additional information.

Sea sickness - Most ppl that I have found who tend to be very seasick, use the patch given from your doctor, and have no problem. Also, if you choose pills you should start taking them several days before you board for best results. Take them at night to lessen the sleepiness.

Congratulations on booking your first cruise, it is an amazing experience and ask away for any info you need.

  4. We stayed there 3 weeks ago. After reading rave reviews for years about how wonderful the staff is and that they make you feel so comfortable, I was shocked and surprised. Chris, apparently the manager, yes, he was great. The cook for breakfast, the front desk lady at late nite check in, the other gentlemen during the day, were the most unfriendly, and basically rude people I have ever encountered in my traveling. I don't like to bash people, but this is our experience. Yes, older hotel, I don't need anything fancy and it did serve the basics, but thats it. If I need a cheap place to stay, I would stay again, as the room was clean, and I am not staying there for social hour with the employees anyway. If I could get a nicer place for 20.00 more, it would be well spent money.

  5. Thank you for your ideas very much. Not sure how much a half day pass is at atlantis, will check, but by the time we get off the ship....trust me, I would love to go tho and I hope you have a very good time.

Junkanoo gets such a wide spectrum of reviews....some say glass all over the place and nasty to a beautiful, clean, very nice beach....what a difference of opinion.

At this point, thinking taking the #10 jitney to Cable beach or Junkanoo and the straw market.

Also...does the straw market stay open after dark or is it best to get out of there by dark?

  6. Believe it or not, in Nassau we port at 1:00 p.m. and deport at midnight in February...seems a day pass won't be worth it? Apparently it gets dark approximately 5:30 p.m., what to do in port til midnight? Will be 2 girls, my daughter (18) and myself....

    Is it safe at night?

    What could be some options?

Scubagirl and others- I need some help with this one please!

This will be our 1st time there,

    Thanks so much!!

  7. I've read on here that the car can be dropped on at Enterprise in Galveston, and even saw the pics of the lock box on the door, however, I called 2 separate times to enterprise and was told both times that there is no drop off on Sunday, no way, now how. I even told her there was a lock box on the door. Anyway, Galveston cruiser, can you give a lil more insight as to how a person can do this??

Galveston has got to do something about the travel between Houston and Galveston. It makes a person crazy trying to figure it out, also, the cruise ship shuttles ONLY will shuttle on embarkation and debarkation days, not day before or day after. Like to visit Galveston a bit when I'm down that way..
