  1. I actually only had their booking number to help them out from here. I will email them and ask the cabin number. I am a great fan of cc and sharing info!! I do know when they booked this particular cabin it did have the statement about the balcony NOT being accessible. She she called and was told it was just not accessible on the day of the canal (you get a place in the sanctuary for free that day!)

I will report back tomorrow with the cabin number.

Thank you! I would love a heads up!

  2. Glad it was resolved. What was the stateroom number? After posting here about the issue, please don't keep that a secret.

I ask, because if there is an identical stateroom on the other side of the ship (which is often true of Princess), those of us who book wheelchair accessible cabins need to be aware of this possibility. Just because they take the stops off of that door doesn't mean they take them off of the other side. And it is possible they could put them back on in that cabin.

Following. We have a handicap suite booked on Island for Feb. Can't find a single positive review about these new aft suites. Hope we can use the balcony while going through!

  3. I also sailed this cruise and stayed on for the Feb. 23 sailing also. I must agree with most everything Caroline reported. We were in the Riviera Penthouse suites and I swear in the daytime you were freezing and at night it was hot! Strange. I don't know if our mattresses were new or not but too hard for my liking. I made do though😊. Both our stewards were fantastic! I travel with my 92 year old mom and they went above and beyond to make sure she was comfortable. I left her in the room one morning while I had breakfast with my brother and his wife. (She didn't feel like b-fast) When I came back she told me the steward washed the balcony windows and all the furniture down. We were lucky! Ship was definitely rocky. Food in Crown Grill excellent. Sure wish they would go back to the old recipe for the fettuccine, so bland now. All in all it was another great cruise!

  4. Momaboss, I noticed on an older thread that you had sailed in R405 on the Crown. Can you tell me whether noise from the Lido above was an issue? We just took an upsell offer, and I'm reading mixed reports.

Sorry for butting in on the thread, but this seemed like the best way to ask.

Yes, I have sailed in those Riviera suites a few times, I can't remember the numbers but they were closer to 400. I am a light sleeper and the scraping of chairs and clickity, clack of heels at 2, 3, 4, 5:00am has me using earplugs. I have no problems when I use them. If I dont, I'm awake off and on all night. I really don't recall any noise in the daytime from Lido. This cruise coming up next week I am in a handicap suite R417 and that is further down then 405, 407 etc. Maybe not as much noise at night, we will see. Then I move to suite R404 for the second segment so I know there will be noise there. As you see, I don't let it stop me from booking them if the upsell price is right, lol. Makes you wonder though, why put penthouse suites right under the pool and chairs?

  5. What is the earliest we'd be allowed to board? We need to be out of the hotel at 11am' date=' and my inclination is to just go over to the port at that time (Port Everglades, if it matters).[/quote']

We just head over to the port. Sit at hotel or sit at port. :D

  6. We don't like vibration at all. That's why I'm asking for others opinions on these cabins. Do you have first hand experience with Caribe 700 cabins?

Sorry! I took a different meaning from the post. My mother likes the vibration. I have not stayed in any of the 700 cabins. We stayed in 500 cabins on caribe. No vibrations there. Actually the only time I ever experienced it was when we were way aft on the Crown. Good luck!

  7. Thank you for this info. We have the choice of C705,707, 709, 715,717,719 and 721.

Looking for a cabin with little vibration.

    Any recommendations?

Apparently you like vibration, I'm jealous! I have one of the new handicap suites on promenade deck booked for next year and am really hoping the vibration is at a minimum! I don't care for it. Hope you find what your looking for! :D

  8. We did not get extra water bottles every day. Just what we got 1 time in the mini-bar.

Also, you will get corsages to wear on on formal nights.

Seems from other threads I've been reading that the daily 2 bottles of water are hit or miss depending on ship. I will try it on the Crown in a couple weeks. They would be very handy for going ashore.

  9. If you have a specialty dining credit, does the cruise line ever allow you to turn it into OTB?

We have two since our TA gifted us a meal and we booked under promo including dinner.

I would be curious about this also. We took an upsell to a suite and received a free balcony breakfast for 2, 45.00, that we will not use due to breakfast in Sabatinis. I wonder if we can get the onboard credit for it instead. If not, no biggie.

  10. My 2 cents worth, I would not cancel. As someone above said, use common sense. I avoid the buffet, wash my hands every chance I get and use hand sanitizer with a high alcohol content. I never contracted anything on a cruise ship. That being said, I have gotten off the ship stayed in Fl a day or 2 then fly home. Last year I picked up a nasty respiratory virus 3rd day I was home and year before that, flu a few days after I was home. I don't believe I picked either up on the ship due to the time in between. So Pam in CA is absolutely correct, you can pick something up anywhere, anytime.

  11. Def have your mother use the spa showers. Getting into, and out of, that tub is tricky especially if you have bad knees.

Yes, I know it's difficult to get in and out. She has taken showers in the spa when we booked regular mini's. We have changed that suite for a handicap one so no worries. For next year we were able to get one of the new handicap suites for the price of a mini on the Island so no worry next year. Although I hear those new suites have very loud vibrations. Oh well, we'll see. Happy Cruising!

  12. Mamaboss, I would love it if you could let us know after the cruise what you thought about the handicapped accessible suite. We unfortunately require a HC cabin, but have only done the balconies to date. Would to hear what you think about the HC suites.

I will definitely come back and comment because I know that kind of info isn't easy to find. I will take pics also.

  13. Thanks, I didn't know until read here on CC and then looked. We never got it delivered to our suite, we do an aft, but on my way to Sanctuary and back and forth through the day, a lot of suite people in the middle area were asking stewards to put more water in their cabin, a lot of them. Especially now that I really don't want to buy anything to drink on the islands with the storms.

That's good to know, thanks. I remember to on that thread they talked about how the PDF doesn't say it's a perk but the book in the suite says it does. We will see. No biggie if I don't get it but would be convenient.

  14. Found a wallet full and I mean full of cash and federal credentials in our suite safe. I toyed with how to handle it and decided to search it for a phone number. I called the owner and told him I was turning it into passengers services desk soon as I hung up the phone. He was extremely grateful not because of the money but the credentials it contained. Said he didn't notice it missing cause it was his "extra wallet". Wish I had an extra wallet like that one! Lol I hope he got everything back ok.

  15. I thought the suite flyer last year had free bottled water, don't see it anymore. Anyone know what's up with that?

There was a thread about this a little bit ago. Seems it is now hit or miss, depending on the ship. I am also sailing in a suite in Feb. so I am going to try for it to take ashore.
