Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We sailed on the Equinox in late May and have no complaints whatsoever. She is probably my favorite ship after 30 something cruises. Service was excellent and the dining was spectacular. We are looing forward to sailing on this class ship again in the future.
  2. Thanks for all your replies. My brother and I did Wonderland for dinner last December on the Anthem, so I know it good it is. Our other picks will be Chop's and 150 Central Park. Also having Chef's Table, which never disappoints. Happy to hear the embarkation and disembarkation have been figured out. We have been spoiled by Royal going out of the Florida ports. Happy sailing, everyone.
  3. Hello, everyone, we have an upcoming spring break cruise on the Harmony out of Galveston. I have a few questions and would appreciate any feedback. We have not sailed out of Galveston since 2016, the embarkation and debarkation were a real mess back then, has this improved ? We have the three night specialty dining package and would like to know when the usual lobster night is so we know how to schedule our dinners. Looking at the online deck plans, I don't see the Diamond lounge, is it in the Crown Lounge ?
  4. We sailed on the Edge last October, 10 nighter out of Rome. We dined at almost every restaurant available and Eden was our favorite. The meal lasted about one and a half to maybe two hours. It never felt drawn out or rushed, the timing, service, and food was spot on. If we ever sail on an Edge class ship, we will book dinner at the Eden at least twice.
  5. On the Edge last October we dined at Eden once and Fine Cut twice. All four of us agreed that Eden was the better choice. Not only was the food better, so was the service and overall ambiance. Please consider Le Petit Chef also, very imaginative and entertaining.
  6. Thanks for your timely review, as we sailed on the Edge in mid October and our next Celebrity cruise is on the Equinox in late May. We have only one other previous cruise on Celebrity, a 10 night Constellation sailing during the summer of 2019. I am fairly certain that we will like the Equinox better. We had booked an aft balcony on the Edge but could not stay in the room because of a strong odor. Celebrity moved us to an aqua class room on deck 9. We did not like the infinite veranda at all, didn't feel like a balcony, just like a room with a large window. Celebrity gave us some other perks but it did not make up for us moving from the aft, as my sister and brother in law were two doors down from us. You are correct about the lack of shaded areas around the pool. It didn't affect us as much because our cruise was mid October in the Med. We loved Eden, probably our favorite part of the ship, dinner there was fantastic, and the nightly entertainment was first rate. All our meals were great, to include Le Petit Chef, a nice surprise since we came in with low expectations. We were also somewhat disappointed with Fine Cut. We greatly enjoyed the martini bar on the Constellation, but the one on the Edge did not measure up. It was not ice topped and had a completely different feel to it. We did appreciate the skill of the bartenders and they put on a good show. The noticeable lack of bars was apparent from the get go. The Edge has more passengers than the Equinox and almost half as many bars. Celebrity has added two more bars to their newest Edge class ships to remedy this.
  7. We were on the Edge, Oct 14th 10 night sailing. We tried all the different dining options except for the sushi place. All four of us agreed that our best dinner was at Eden and wished we had booked there a second time. I was hoping for the interactive experience but I guess Covid and too many complaints killed it. In addition, we all went to Eden almost every late night for the live entertainment. It was always very good.
  8. I stand by my previous post, I would have immediately went over to that table and politely asked them to turn off the music. Right is right, and wrong is wrong. If they wanted to escalate the situation, so be it.
  9. If I was seated anywhere near that table, I would have immediately walked over to the offending table and politely asked them to turn off the speaker. If they declined, I would have the maitre'd have them turn it off. I have never ran into such jerks on a cruise before.
  10. I was on the Dec 4th sailing and reservations for Spectra was required. We enjoyed it but once was enough. Music Hall had some real good entertainment, especially the Journey cover band.
  11. We were on a 10 day Edge cruise on Oct 14, out of Rome. And feel the same way you do about the Edge, underwhelmed. We had booked a sunset vista cabin, aft balcony, but couldn't use the room because of a distinct odor, Celebrity moved us to an Aqua Class cabin on deck 9, we were not impressed with the infinite veranda stateroom, basically just a large window. We didn't enjoy the martini bar as much as on the one on the Constellation, it lacked the ice top bar and had a completely different vibe. The pool deck had very few lounges under cover and out of the sun. We caught a few shows and the entertainment was just ok. I can appreciate Celebrity's willingness to try a different direction with this class, call me old school, it just wasn't my style. On the plus side, all our meals were very good, we ate at all the different restaurants except for Raw on 5 and the Rooftop Grille. Our dinners at Eden and Fine Cut were outstanding. We sailed at roughly 66 percent capacity, so the service was excellent. This summer we have booked a cruise on the Equinox and I think that this class of ship will be a better fit for us and other family members joining us.
  12. We were on the Edge about a month ago and tried Eden. The meal and service were spectacular, the best of all our dinners, and we tried each and every restaurant except for Raw on Five. If I had known how good it was, I would have booked it at least twice. Our least favorite dinners were at Blu and Cosmopolitan.
  13. My wife and I were on the Edge about a month ago. We always book a balcony, and from reading many iv reviews, I decided to book an aft cabin, which are all true balconies on the Edge class. Something happened the cruise before, because our room smelled real bad, Celebrity moved us up to an Aqua Class cabin, which was an infinite verandah. My expectations were confirmed with our new room, to me it is not a balcony, just a room with a large window. The only positive was that since our bed was towards the back of the room, we could leave the window open and hear the waves as we fell asleep.
  14. Thanks for all the info, I will be on the Anthem Dec 4 for a seven night cruise. I have always enjoyed going to the schooner bar and listening to the piano player. How was the rest of the nightly entertainment ? Two70 looks very interesting to me. Did you try North Star ? What was the late night 'club', Music Hall ?
  15. Hey, everyone, thanks so much for your replies. I have read many reviews and have seen numerous videos on youtube already. I always do my homework before sailing on a new class of ship that I have not been on before, it always helps to check on Cruise Critic with those who have been on the ship recently. I was on the Celebrity Edge last month, and the two ships seem quite similar. Cheers !
