CCL adding supplies on long cruises
Aplmac replied to havanadaydreaming's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Once or twice while docked at St. Thomas on a Carnival Southern Caribbean cruise (remember them?) we saw containers waiting dockside to replenish our ship. We got soap in the shower, later that day (honestly..)! -
That's what I did too: ordered online before the cruise and found it waiting in the cabin, when we boarded. Towel quality was not great though (you get what you pay for) - it was a bit on the flimsy side, but we still have it.
-
Ocean Village did this, too.. for our two cruises with them, in 2008. At first a bit disconcerting, but everyone surrendered them and everyone got theirs back!
-
LOL -you're so right! That totally escaped me (old eyes!). Thank you!

I'm delighted to hear that tech. suggestions made a decade ago have now been introduced to improve heat dissipation! There has been lots of discussion (multiple threads) over time. Hopefully this new tech. has also been retro-fitted to older ships as well, per dry dock!

Interesting Carnival cruise card you showed there! I haven't cruised now for 8 long years so your card looks different to what I last saw (and collected). Seems longer than standard card-size?? If you're not emotionally attached to it I'd love to add it to my collection (anyone else, too!) Please Email me at dh-jennie (at) outlook dot com for a postal address

Those cabin fridges work a lot better if you leave their cabinet door open for periods of time. Heat-exchange units need circulating air to dispel air on the Hot side of the system (so they can effectively make Cold on the other side). Ask any refrigeration technician.

The fish-fry nites at Oistins don't only happen on a Friday. If you like jostling crowds, then Friday's your night but on other nights of the week, it's a lot less crowded and consequently service is quicker. Your choice.

Agreed. Sounds like a lot of $$$$$ to invest in a urine-conversion program......

princess cruiser on carnival for first time
Aplmac replied to greener's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We have done 14 cruises: 11 on Carnival, two on Ocean Village, and one on Caribbean Princess. Every one of them a Carnival Corp. ship! Yet no portability among them: ridiculous... -
That is so cool! Many thanks!

Another lovely dark-blue hull to add to CC photo album....

Is the infirmary equipped for afib?
Aplmac replied to Illbcruzn4life's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
My wife says I now rattle when I walk due to the cardio-meds I take, post-STEMI. I swallow about 8 pills a day (and night) but WTH they keep me alive so I can cruise again, some day! And by the way: Heart Attack and Stroke are the same thing - Cardio-Vascular Disease. One manifests in the heart.. the other.....in the brain. -
RE-PAINTING ALL HULLS to look like Mardi Gras! Wow!

By now, the fleet should be looking very smart indeed! Even the older 'boats'! -particularly the older boats!! -

What's your biggest win on CCL in the casino?
Aplmac replied to Thad409's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
All I ever won was a few Quarters in that silly Shove-the-coins-over-the-edge game.. (see first two pics below) ..but I was there to see the guy win $2,500 when he got that machine aligned Just Right! (other two pics).. Casino Boss came over, game him a big fat check instead and put 'his' $2,500 cash-bait ... back in the machine! -

And by the way...all you cardio-people.. I have this amazing cardio-educational App on my phone and on the iPad... it is issued by the American College of Cardiology for the purpose of educating us lay-people to explain to us, graphically, what's going on in there! CardioSmart Explorer My cardiologist thanked me.. saying "Thanks for bringing this to my attention!" I've learned a lot from it, have turned-on many others to it, and use it every now and then, to show folks this and that. https://www.cardiosmart.org/content/cardiosmart-heart-explorer-app -
Is the infirmary equipped for afib?

Interesting thread! I haven't cruised in eight yrs. now, and in that time I had myself a STEMI (May 2020) I now take a bunch of tablets every day, and I take it easy. This thread makes me wonder about a few things... Just an observation, sorry.... -
Those pics of Carlisle Bay are stock pics, some/most of them taken years ago but, tbh, general conditions on CBay don't change much, over years, other than the beach slowly gets wider and wider, incrementally!

best Carnival excursions Thomas,Barbados,Dominica ?
Aplmac replied to havanadaydreaming's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
A basic island tour (any destination!) is always a good bet if you have nothing else in mind! A basic island tour will give you a good cross-section of what that destination is about: you'll see some of everything on offer - it's hard to go wrong with that choice. These pics are the S-East coast of Barbados. -
And another thing... It won't hurt to carry an extra 3-4 days worth of daily meds just in case your travel adventure/cruise takes an unexpected, unforseen turn, due to weather or whatever! Because ship happens! Remember the ppl on Carnival Triumph, whose 7 day cruise turned into nearly two weeks? OK.. that sorta scenario! Better to have extra meds and not need them, than vice versa!
-
I wouldn't sweat it too much. You're not the first person to be travelling with loads of prescribed meds! Keep your meds in the labelled containers that were issued to you, at source, so they can read Exactly What it is, plus dates, dosages, etc. They should have a fun time with me, next time I travel with multiple cardiac meds: I swallow about 8-9 tablets a day to keep the heart running after my STEMI in May 2020....but like I said, neither you or I are the first ppl to travel with lotsa meds!
