  1. We also just booked this cruise.

TA said only suites are left.

    This is really booking fast.

    Bob

Maybe your TA should check again! Hope they aren't using this as a "tactic" to get people to book!

    Currently available cabins:

    135 Inside

    60 Oceanview

    481 Veranda (SV, 1A,B,C, 2A,B,C,D)

    198 Concierge

    81 Aqua

    43 Suites

    That's a lot of cabins!!!!!

  2. It's not showing on the web site but we just booked the Eclipse round trip to Hawaii from Los Angeles on October 27, 2019 through our CVP. It's the only RT to Hawaii being offered.

I was excited when I saw this in an email from X today. After looking at the pricing, I am no longer excited. It is WAY out of whack!

I need to move an on board booking to another cruise, so may just move it to this one and see what happens with the pricing down the road.

  3. Regarding YC - this is what I was expecting. The beds are plush, the cabins are larger (not huge but enough to make a difference), the balcony slightly larger than standard balcony, the bathrooms are larger (and marble), and the closet is larger. Nothing is spectacularly different about the cabin. But there is enough of a difference especially when enhanced by prosecco and strawberries, a mini bar, and a butler. When you add that you are steps away from the Top Sail Lounge on One Pool/Bar - these become extensions of the living area. So it's not the furnishings as much as the experience.

You absolutely nailed it! It's all about the experience!!! :D

  4. Muster drill on the Equinox last month was a total joke. I'm not exactly sure what that video was all about, but to me, it was useless. Someone's idea of "cute" but definitely not appropriate. Whoever comes up with these videos needs to go into another line of business. And whoever at Celebrity is allowing this "junk" to cover the all important safety of passengers and the imparting of such information to passengers needs to be fired. Sorry......MHO.

  5. I'm sure there are many people who will think the cabins are lovely. If something is not to your taste does not make it awful. And I believe MSC kept a wrap on photos because they wanted to showcase the finished products - not partially complete spaces.

I am one of those who thinks the cabins look just fine. This is an Italian cruiseline afterall, and deep, rich colors are their M.O. I'm not all that crazy about all the chrome and glass, but it certainly won't spoil my upcoming cruise! I think the ship is gorgeous!

  6. And......here comes the much discussed nonrefundable deposit as well!! They said, 11/28, and that would be today!!

  7. This is on the Celebrity website and addresses your question:

The following are examples of items that guests are not allowed to bring onboard. These and other similar items will be confiscated upon being found. Alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, flammable liquids, explosives, and dangerous chemicals will not be returned.

    • Firearms & Ammunition, including realistic replicas.
    • *Sharp Objects, including knives and scissors. (See note below)
    • Illegal Drugs & Substances
    • Candles & Incense
    • Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, & Hot Plates
    • Baseball Bats, Hockey Sticks, Cricket Bats, Bows & Arrows
    • Skateboards & Surfboards
    • Martial Arts Gear
    • Self-Defense Gear, including handcuffs, pepper spray, night sticks.
    • Flammable Liquids and Explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks.
    • HAM Radios
    • Electrical Extension Cords
    • Dangerous Chemicals, including bleach and paint.
    • **Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (Not sure what the double asterisk means since it was not included in this post.)

    Note:

*Personal grooming items such as safety razors are allowed. Scissors with blade length less than 4 inches are allowed.

Not sure that anything on the Celebrity website actually answers anyone's questions.......They are so inconsistent with just about everything. The difference between the website and personnel in Miami vs. the on board experience is like night and day.

To the OP: I have always carried a Swiss Army knife as well as a scissors in my carry-on and have never had a problem.

  8. I am on Equinox in January room 6263. Reading some posts i am concerned about smoke from Deck 5 smoking area stinking up our balcony.

Anyone been in this room or close to this room?

    Any help would be appreciated..

You will be approximately 8 cabins to the aft of the smoking area. Just off the Equinox, and was in 6237, which is directly above the smoking area. I never smelled smoke on my balcony. You should be fine.

  9. :(Hi everyone. I head out tomorrow for 10 nights on the Equinox. Sorry you and Jeff switched over to Viking, Katie. Will miss you. Good news about Jeff though. Very happy for him. Happy sails to all and glad Linda and Carolyn had such a good cruise on the Summit.

And yes, Lois, that poster is just a tad "off the wall". It's really hard to read the junk that gets posted on CC these days! I choose not to respond to most of it, but sometimes I just can't help myself!;)

  10. Hi. We booked late fixed dining for our first Celebrity cruise but I didn’t realise that the seating was downstairs and select upstairs. Is either nicer than the other?

Despite open seating on our last cruise, we ended up eating at 8:30 every night anyway. We don’t like to be rushed, like a break between courses, and we don’t drink our coffee with pudding, only afterwards. I got fed up having to explain this every evening as we were never seated in the same area apart from 2 evenings. Also, the food was invariably only tepid and it got tiresome sending it back and having to explain that we wanted hot food! That’s why I picked fixed late to have the same table every night.

However, I’ve read some posts about upstairs being nicer and a “private” area for Select dining. Does anyone have experience of either/both areas and would help with their experience? Thanks very much in advance.

I have experienced both Select and Fixed dining. To me, being upstairs in Select definitely does NOT equate to being nicer and "private". Select dining can be extremely chaotic at times - and loud. Yes, you can sit at the same table each night, but this can require a wait if you go at different times each night and have no dining reservations connected to your booking. And, there are no guarantees your food will be hot.

If you like to eat at 8:30 at night, I would definitely stick with Fixed dining!

  11. I find your response rather comical, as I have spoke to several contacts at the home office of Celebrity, no one of whom knows anything about what CruiseCritic is reporting. Until I get a communication from them, it's business as usual, I don't find it beneficial to run business based of rumor and innuendo from message boards. Whatever policy change this is, I will deal with it in the proper manner given to me, and not shout "fire" via a mass email message to clients - that's unprofessional, and doesn't do anything but start pointless dialogue such as this.

I'm with you, Jonny! Stick to being professional. My CVP at Celebrity has told me that as soon as there is a change, he will let me know. For the time being, nothing has changed regarding deposits. Speculation runs rampant. I say, let's hear it from the horses mouth.

  12. Saw it here.

  13. And I normally wouldn't mention this, but we are Elite Plus. Supposedly this gives us some kind of priority wait list in the MDR...what does that really mean [emoji10]?

I would love to see where it states that you receive "some kind of priority wait list in the MDR". Have never seen that or heard of that.

Unfortunately, Select Dining is already overbooked and way too crowded. Perhaps Celebrity needs to re-think their dining programs and options for passengers.

  14. 1116 has a standard size balcony. The bed is near the bath.

1120 has a large, angled balcony since it is located off the hump. The bed is near the balcony.

If you like spending time on your balcony, definitely book 1120! You will be able to see both forward and aft. I have not experienced either one of these specific cabins, but the 1A's I have booked have the same angled balcony and are wonderful. It is also nice to have the bed by the balcony, but that is certainly my opinion only. YMMV! Enjoy your cruise - whichever cabin you choose.

  15. I was wondering if I was the only one........over the years of receiving statements and the end of the cruise, I don't

remember ever getting it in an envelope. Actually, I have seen it being folded and left outside on the door. I have also

received it on the floor (where it was slid under the door)---have received statements that way at hotels over the years

too. But I honestly don't remember getting a copy of the bill inside an envelope. Oh, there have been times when

nothing was left....if I wanted a bill on the last day I would go to Guest Relations to pick one up.

This has been my exact experience as well, Lois!

  16. We rarely drink alcohol but I, at least, drink soda like crazy. I wish to have the full can (12 oz) versus a glass (8 oz or less). Do I get a full can with my soda card or only a glass?? Also I have read on one of these entries that I can get 2 servings of soda at once on a soda card so that I don't need a soda card for my wife. True?

    Thanks.

    Glenn:cool:

Celebrity does not have "soda cards". There are classic and premium non-alcoholic drink packages offered in addition to the alcohol packages. All packages include soda-most likely in cans.

    2 sodas = 2 packages.

  17. Would you book the cruise before a dry dock? We are considering the 1/2 Reflection and she goes into dry dock 1/9-1/19. I know sometimes they start certain things early and/or don't keep certain things as clean (or so I've read on CC). Thoughts?

I have been on Celebrity ships pre-dry dock. The ship runs exactly as it would if there was no dry dock planned. They do not run out of stock because of dry dock, nor do they neglect cleaning. I have been on non pre/post dry dock cruises where they ran out of stock. Happens all the time and has absolutely nothing to do with dry dock. I wouldn't hesitate to book a cruise with Celebrity because of a dry dock. You will have a great time regardless! Enjoy!!! :)

  18. I must admit I was very saddened by so many posts yesterday of people "worried" and felling "inconvenienced" by possible changes in their itineraries due to Hurricanes Irma and Maria. For Gods sake these poor people have lived through the terror of not one but TWO hurricanes back to back. They have lost their homes personal belongings businesses places of employment have relatives that have either perished or cannot be found are living without water power communication and many are left with the clothes on their backs and you are worried about your inconvenience of itinerary changes while cruising on a luxury ship???!!!!😡😡 We also have two cruises booked with stops in many of these beautiful islands but like others here are worried about them have already sent donations to them and can't wait until we can visit to help build their economy. Have a ❤️ And stop being so selfish.

  19. On my recent Infinity cruise Guest Relations said you could smoke cigars in any smoking area. I know it used to be different, and is on the S class. But I think I've already mentioned this once on this thread. I don't know about recent rules on the other M class ships.

Back in the day when smoking was still allowed - portside - at the Sunset Bar, that was the only place cigars could be smoked. When they outlawed smoking there, all smoking areas were opened up to both cigarettes and cigars. I have found this to be the case on all M-Class ships.

  20. As I sit here after returning to my home in Cape Coral (just to the north of Naples) I can tell you that what is being suggested here is a total logistics nightmare! Ships were already at sea and could not return to closed ports. The people living near the ports would not be able to get there. Every major highway in south/southwest Florida was major gridlock.

In the aftermath there are downed trees everywhere, transformers down, no traffic signals, major flooding and yesterday I observed absolutely nothing open (gas stations, grocery stores-nothing!) We will eventually return to normal.

While all your suggestions are commendable, it would have been near impossible!

  21. I agree, Beth. It looks like you live in Florida.....stay safe.

Thanks! We are as prepared as we can be here on the southwest coast of Florida. Still hoping Irma veers off into the Atlantic and spares the east coast as well. I'm a midwesterner and have found dealing with snowstorms to be alot less stressful.;)
