  1. I've cruised 19 times with MSC since 2011 - I've never been on a sailing where announcements were made "all day long". Most are made in the morning - and usually just the one. I'm usually in the cabin at the time and have to run out to the corridor to hear it as they're not even beamed into the cabins (probably so as not to disturb late-morning sleepers).

Totally agree! I have only been on two MSC cruises (Divina & Seaside) but there were no announcements "all day long" in various languages! I only recall the one - about mid morning - when the Captain would come on and then the cruise director. Very civilized and certainly not disruptive.

  2. Anyone of you folks know what hotels MSC is status matching for?

Hilton, Marriott, Ritz-Carlton, IHG, Accor, Fairmont, Starwood, Best Western, Sandals, Kampinski..........

Lots of good information on the MSC Website, under Voyagers Club.

  3. My husband and I were talking about this last night, and it seems that's exactly what's happened.

Glad we're booked. May not be booking for October 2019 like we had planned. Currently over 4k pp for a Deluxe. That's pretty steep for a 7-day. It will be interesting to watch the prices.

You must have been looking at 14N cruises. All of the October 2019 cruises in YC Deluxe are around $4200-4300 for TWO - T & F incl. And that's before Voyagers discount.

  4. There is a good price for YC Suite on the Seaside 9/15 sailing. $1,959.50 pp (T & F incl.) This is with the 5% Voyagers Club discount. There are still decent prices out there - just not in "prime time"!

  5. Can anyone tell me if I ask for a kettle on an Alaskan cruise do they also provide cups and coffee or do I need to bring my own coffee?

You will need to bring your own coffee and you can get cups/mugs from the buffet. One of those single cup Melitta cones works wonderfully! (Just don't forget the filters.;))

  6. I saw that MSC is now matching loyalty status with other cruise lines. Would this help Celebrity and Royal Caribbean? I'm 14 points away from Platinum on Carnival and could probably convince Cindy to do a back to back to get to the next tier. Some folks don't want to leave and venture out because of their perks but would if their loyalty was recognized. This would sweeten the pot and help fill up some of those winter cabins in the Caribbean. Some of us might even try something more upscale like Azamara.

MSC has been "status matching" for going on 3 years now. I first sailed with them in 2016 (non Yacht Club) and then again this past April (Yacht Club). Both experiences were excellent, but the Yacht Club totally blows away everything X offers IMHO. I have another cruise booked with them in 2019 in the YC. Price-wise, they give me the best bang for my buck-especially since I am a solo cruiser.

  7. Any adults making use of the new wristbands on Seaside? Cost? Convenience?

Yes, loved them! Included if in Yacht Club; $5 if not or not included with "experience". I wore mine the entire week and just left my card in the slot in the room. I only took my card with me if getting off the ship or going to the casino.

  8. I can't believe you are getting off already!! Boy this week went fast. I still haven't watched all your scopes, so you can't get off. LOL :D

I was watching some of your deck tours this morning; I am wondering...does it look like in the YC private deck areas & pool that there are enough loungers and such for each YC guest? Or do people come out early to claim a lounger? Never having sailed in a 'special" area I wasn't sure how that worked. I'm thinking I'd want a guaranteed seat. After spending all that money, to have to turn around and leave because it's full? Well, that would be for the common-folk. Hahaha!!

Was also wondering if you need to check in and out towels like on RCCL? Or are they just provided to you?

Okay, back to your scopes. I may come back with more questions.

I'm guessing Lovetocruise is enroute to the airport. There are tons of loungers at the One Pool. Absolutely no reason to have a "guaranteed seat"! There are towels, towels, and more towels, plus two in your stateroom. No need to check out or in. The pool attendants will put towels down on the padded loungers once you have chosen where you want to be. There was no need for "chair hogs" and I didn't notice any on my cruise. Everyone was very civilized. :D

  9. Considering the YC on the Seaside May 2019.

I read somewhere that they have a smoking area in the YC lounge and the comment was made that the smell of smoke was always evident no matter where you are seated in the lounge. Also a bit of concern since the YC restaurant is open to the lounge from above.

    I this true?

    Thank you.

Not sure where/who this misinformation you refer to came from but there is NO SMOKING AREA in the Top Sail Lounge on the Seaside. There is a small smoking area outside of the lounge and there is a double set of doors to go through in order to get out there. There was absolutely no smoke odor inside the lounge or the restaurant. No need to be concerned.
