  1. My family and I will be headed to the Western Caribbean at the end of January. I planned this cruise sometime in the summer, so this is when I began to seriously look at my overall health. I'm 5'4 and weighed almost 170 lbs. at the time. This was the heaviest I've ever been.

I ordered that 30 minute workout program from BB. Although I was eating healthy and working out again, I felt the program was not for me. It wasn't challenging enough and I only lost 10 lbs during the 90 day regime (started Labor Day weekend). Then the holidays came around and took a break. Mostly because I didn't want to beat myself up about what holiday foods I could and couldn't have, but also because I was about to move out of state.

I am now on my 6th week of the original P90X program. It focuses on lifting, which I love because this is how my body loses weight; cardio does nothing for me. I am now down to 152 lbs. I'm excited because I'm seeing results, but the workout time is so much longer than the 30 minute program :p

My overall goal is to be muscular at 135 lbs. (think Meisha Tate or Michelle Rodriguez). I know this won't happen by the time I cruise (I don't think?), but goals. I have them :D

  2. I hope this post finds you in great spirits and that you had a wonderful Christmas! I thought I'd report back on how things went! First, Thank you guys for the very cool creative ways that has been suggested. I chose to go w/ a few gifts to compliment to the cruise. But I had to be careful and not over do it as she would have been quick to figure it out. So it was a total of two gifts.

The first one was a nice halter sun dress. For the second and last gift was the cruise. So I used the idea of a RC photo album. The googled an image of the Liberty, added, the name of the ship to make it look 'official' just like what RC would offer etc. Then I made the info page for the LH side when opened, for the RH side, I printed the Set Sail pass. I wrapped the album & placed it it in a large box. She had no clue & was very surprised. I then directed her to the stocking with suntan lotion and a couple of pair of sunglasses.

Thank you again for all that participated and offered suggestions! Later today, we'll actually start gathering info for the planning & excursions.

    Happy New Year!

    Very cool!

  3. I am doing the same thing for my mom. I'm buying a bunch of gag gifts for her to open first: a bottle of sunblock, cheap flip flops, a big ugly sun hat...all stuff related to a cruise. The final gift is the actual gift for this Christmas because the cruise isn't until 2017. It's a jeweled music box. Inside the music box is going to be the cruise itinerary.

She will probably think I'm an ungrateful daughter until she realizes the gag gifts allude to the cruise [emoji5]️

  4. What do you do to stay motivated? And how do you deal with diet? My husband and I started our P09X3 program Labor Day weekend because we want to get our old bodies back. We are now closing in on our third block, and I have to say I am not happy with the results. The program itself is fine, but it's the diet I am struggling with.

I am currently going by the book provided in the program. All the foods you can have are placed into categories (carbs, healthy fats, proteins, etc.), with the 'better for you foods' listed towards the top of each category. You select your foods based on how many of each category you should be eating at each meal. For example, breakfast is 2 proteins, 3 carbs, 1 fat. Oddly enough, veggies are placed into the carbs category. So my typical breakfast will be egg whites with spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes, avocado, and a glass of milk.

I stay all of this to show I follow the guide pretty well, but I am not seeing the results I want. I've lost MAYBE 10 lbs. For closing in on a 90 day program, I am expecting to see a bigger loss. It's really discouraging. I plan on completing the program and will go back to the original P90X program. In the meantime, what motivations do you guys use/do in order to stay on track?

  5. The Rising Tide bar are on the Oasis Class ships and not on the Freedom Class ships.

For higher viewing ( but not that close ) you can go 6th or 7th floor on either end of the Promenade.

Also there are viewing balconies overlooking the Promenade located next to the elevators - both fore and aft.

Thank you mattpro, but I am not looking for an actual location to view the disco party. I'm asking if there is a purchasable event for the disco party similar to the one on Allure.

  6. There was a special event you could purchase for the night of the 70's Disco Street Party in the Rising Tide Bar. It was two hours of unlimited alcoholic beverages, snacks and a seat for the party. My husband and I purchased this event and it turned out to be the best night of the cruise.

Is there anything like this on Liberty for their 70's Disco Street Party? I tried searching the boards but didn't find anything.

  7. My mom is retiring in December, 2016. Obviously she is very excited about this. I've always told her I wanted to do something big for her when it happens. So when she gave me the December 16 deadline, I naturally went and booked the Royal Family Suite for us to celebrate! :D

But she has NO idea this is what I have planned. Before I would tell her I want to throw a party...or something along those lines; maybe rent a dance hall, wine tour in a limo with all her friends, or rent a beach house in Catalina. However the one thing I know she's fallen in love with is cruising. Her first cruise was in the Eastern Caribbean cruise on Monarch of the Seas, which was a graduation present to me way back when. Sadly, she has not been back since due to work. So I think it's fitting to gift a cruise to her for this life changing accomplishment :)

We don't sail until January, 2017. It's so far away! But I'm still very excited. Dad is helping me plan this one out. Any ideas on how I can break the surprise to her??

  8.

We took with us a supply of gloves that the servers and attendants use. We each wore one to pick up tongs whenever in the Windjammer. Once we sat down we removed the glove to eat. In the dining room we did the same.

In two weeks we will be on the Allure and will follow that same procedure.

    QUOTE]

We are on this same sailing with you. This is a good idea. I hope you don't mind if I steal it :)

  9. YOu have up to 3 days prior to departure to print it.

After this the reservation goes MIA correct? IIRC, I've read posts from people who couldn't view their reservation this close to their sail date.

I haven't printed out my docs yet and don't want to miss the cut off print date. We sail in 16 days.

  10. I recently switched our cabin (same deckplan code) and requested an updated invoice. I changed nothing else. I noticed the Barbie Experience was listed for both me and my husband ($70 total). I did not purchase the Barbie Experience. I did buy tickets to the Prohibition Party, which is $70 total for the two of us, but this was not listed.

When I contacted CS about this, they sent me to the Cruise Planner Department. The CPD emailed me my reservations and charges. The PP is there and no Barbie Experience. OK great, but could this potentially cause a problem down the road? I don't want to get on the ship and find a bunch of Barbie crap in my room. Finding out I don't have reservations to the PP would be even worse. CS didn't seem to be able to handle fixing my additions, and the CPD verified my reservations.

  11. And were you on this cruise? Nah, didn't think so.

So no, perhaps you can't say RC screwed up, but since you weren't there, you really don't know.

Of course I wasn't, as I am sure many others who have read and responded to this open post.

My dissatisfaction is not about the amount of the compensation, and I believe it to be a nice gesture. My dissatisfaction is with the attempt to not accept ANY blame, only saying it was "out of their control.".

How do you know for a fact it was not out of their control? My objective opinion is this; RCI giving out a 20% discount is accepting blame and taking responsibility. Perception is a strange thing when a personal bias is involved.

Have I given up on RC? Absolutely not! We've had over 20 great cruise with them. Since you were not there to experience it, you and others who weren't really can't fairly judge the feelings of those of us who were.

I feel those of us who were not there are fairly judging the situation, which is the premise of the OP. The question was this: is how RC handled the situation something we CC members would do if we screwed up with our own company? Emotion was not mentioned. I am glad you have decided to not give up on RC. A 20% discount for a future cruise means you get to take another vacation with a quality cruise line.
