  1. My cruise planner just added the Prohibition Party to reserve. I've been looking forward to this party for so long. But the AOS has it scheduled for 3:00 PM on a day in port! My husband and I have an excursion already scheduled on this day and we'll return as the party ends. Bummer.

For those who have been to the PP, is it normally scheduled this early? And on a day in port? It seems like they would schedule it during the night on a sea day.

  2. Price Protection 101

If the reservation is before final payment date and the price has dropped you can: (Final payment date is not always when you pay final payment check your RCI guest invoices for your exact final payment date)

    1. Have an onboard credit issued in the difference of the price drop. (ex price is 1000.00 and it drops to 900.00 you can get 100.00 obc)

    2. You can request an upgrade. You can only get an upgrade if the higher category is the same price you have paid or lower. (ex you paid 1000.00 for a D3 and the D3 dropped to 800.00 but a D2 is now 1000.00 you can upgrade to it)

    3. Refund! You can request the reservations price code be updated to current pricing and the difference refunded. (ex price is 1000.00 and it drops to 900.00 you can get that updated and 100.00 will be refunded)

If the reservation is PAST final payment you can ONLY

This is one that a lot of people get frustrated with. Granted people can post they have gotten around this policy but it's not easy.

This is general information and for more specific information you can contact RCI customer service for more info.

    Thanks! :)

  3. Hubby and I are going on our first cruise for our 21st bdays.

We heard that shore excursions can sell out, but how fast?

It is Sep 15, roughly 2 weeks, for Nassau's Atlantis Aquaventure and also kayak/snorkeling package.

Should we book today or wait until Friday when we get our paychecks (will it still be avaliable then?)

I'd purchase the one(s) you really have your heart set on prior to cruising. The last cruise I was on had the one excursion DH and I wanted to do sold out. We went to book as soon as we boarded the ship too. It may be because the Lakers and a bachelor party were on the same cruise, but I wouldn't chance it.

  4. I have folded my golf shirts, but have read that rolling them is better, says no wrinkles. Let's see how many roll or fold. ;)

It's the way my military family has done it for years. It's the right way. It's the only way :P Besides, when I first board, I make sure everything which needs to be ironed is done by laundry services. Or you could do what my grandma did on our first cruise and bring your own travel iron. Illegal? No, but definitely prohibited. Don't worry, I won't say anything :)

  5. OOOOhhhh..............instead of YOU doing the search, you expected ME to do the search for you!

I didn't realize that at first.

Not the actual "assistance". I've noticed your responses to my posts are generally unhelpful and come across as passive aggressive. Moving forward, please ignore my posts. I'd really appreciate it.

  6. I haven't ever been with another cruise line, but I love everything about RCI. I've never had a problem with any system glitches (other than my reservation disappearing due to system updates), I've always had great CS when I need to call, the food is wonderful IMHO, and lets face it; if you're on a cruise vacation, any problem encountered is really a first world problem. So I take everything in stride. I am a creature of habit and rarely ever stray from what I know. I have not been disappointed yet :D

  7. So excited as the price finally went down more than $25 on the 11/2/14 Allure cruise. I have been tracking this cruise since June when the high price for a single inside was $2504. Yesterday morning the price was $1706 and then around 5pm the price dropped $315 to $1391 and I grabbed it!!! Thank goodness for those price alerts as I wouldn't have know about it without them. I also got OBC, bottle of wine, and dinner at a specialty restaurant. Oh and I got RT air from DFW for $215!! As my ex used to say I was rolling sevens. Now I am waiting for the price to go down again so I can get an upgrade.

How did you get the bottle of wine and specialty restaurant included??

  8. I wouldn't wait until tomorrow to call unless by tomorrow you mean today:D

I had to wait until today (the following day) because their call center was closed for the evening. I received my price drop though! So far it's a little over $600 off due to price drops. Not bad :)

  9. Losing weight with the intention of gaining some of it back is a BAD idea.....you will gain it FAST....and the next time you try to lose it, it will NOT come off so easily. Eat sensibly every day, and don't "pre-diet"....not a healthy thing to do.

I couldn't agree more and highly advise against this plan.

  10. Lioness: thanks! we set sail on the Allure March 2015. My countdown on the RCI website shows I'm almost half way there haha

Clare: thanks and good idea about the roll call. I'll make sure to tell everyone immediately.

  11. I'm still new to the ins and outs of RCI pricing. I am curious about taking advantage of the price drops. Is there a limit on the number of price drops you can receive? Also, when I was searching previous threads regarding price drops, I read the reservation can be paid in full and still receive a price drop as long as it's before the paid-in-full date. Is this correct?

I did a mock booking and saw my stateroom category is now $160 cheaper overall. Am I only allowed a price drop on the cabin category (ex. D2) or am I looking for the difference in the type of room I booked (ocean view balcony).

Sorry for the newb questions. I'll get this down eventually :p

  12. Update: It turned out to be good news!

The reservation re-appeared a little before midnight and I was thrilled to see an upgrade, from Outside Cabin to Balcony. I'm D+ and this is the first time it has happened. What's interesting is that the cruise is showing no more balconies available.

In any case, thank you Royal Caribbean!

    System update. AWESOME :)

  13. I frequent another message board where the people talk about the 80/20 rule (80% diet, 20% exercise). Sounds logical in terms of losing weight and being healthy. We all know diet is a huge factor in these. What are your favorite meals for healthy eating? I thought I'd share mine below:

    Breakfast Foods:

    Spinach and egg white scramble

Oatmeal with a small amount of peanut butter mixed in

Fruit (blueberries, 1 apple, 1 banana, grapes, or one grapefruit) and a hard boiled egg

Whole grain toast (1 slice) w/peanut butter and fruit

Turkey sausage on one English muffin w/a small amount of mozz. cheese as a topping

    Lunch/Dinner:

Spinach or Romaine salads with chicken or tuna (toppings I like to add are yellow/orange peppers, black olives, avocados, corn, carrots, beans, or other flavorful veggies so I don't have to add dressing)

Grilled chicken (with lots of sweet basil and thyme) with veggies and a piece of fruit

Veggie stir fry (chicken can be added) made in EVOO

    Lentil soup

Homemade chicken soup (bone-in chicken, potato, carrots, celery, cabbage, onions with squeezed lemon)

    Desserts - YES, DESSERT :D

Plain non-fat Greek yogurt w/honey and fruit

    Sliced mangos with chili pepper

    Small amount of sorbet

Fruit cocktail (non-canned) - grapes, oranges, sliced apples and banana, etc.

    Snacks:

    Baby carrots

    Sugar snap peas

    Cherry tomatoes

    Almonds (small handful)

    Dried fruit w/nuts

    Beverages:

    WATER

Tea (hot or cold with no sugar added)

    Fat free milk

These are just my favorite go-to meals. Please post yours! I'd like to get new ideas for meals :)
