  1. We just got back from our celebrity excursion ‘destination highlight: explore Haugesund by foot’ it was advertised as 2.5 hours but was less than 2 hours as our tour guide needed to be back before 11am for her next tour. Not a big deal, as she gave us the option to stay behind and explore the town on our own instead of trekking back with her. We ended up ditching the tour when the hubs saw a record store on the way back 😹 the ship docks in an industrial area, but you can walk or take shuttles into town these houses were built in the early 1900’s to house oil company employees but now are used as Ukrainian refugee housing boat houses along the inland waterway traditional house made from local timber. Notice the sexton details below its peaks. Fun fact: Captain Kate’s first tattoo was a sexton on her foot! sheep and fur pelts outside a local shop Why does Haugesund have a Marilyn Monroe statue? Her dad was born in Haugesund and was a baker here before he immigrated to America This statue is one of hope as it has two fishermen and one is pointing out to the sea and telling the other one that the herring are coming back. There was a time that the town almost died off due to lack of herring
  2. Your pictures are stunning!!! We have our fingers and toes crossed that we get a clear day as well 🤞
  3. For us, it was a timing issue. This sailing worked out better for us vs the later dates that the Apex has
  4. When we arrived at the Central Station in Amsterdam we purchased a 48 hour transit pass outside of the entrance to the subway station. It cost €15 each and we just tapped it on the scanners each time we got on and off. I did see people using their phones as well, but they needed to hold their phones under the scanner and this way seemed to take more time & cause more issues with the system vs tapping the passes. You also need to tap/scan for each person getting on and off. We downloaded the 9292 app ahead of time and used it along with apple maps (you can change the view to show transit routes) to figure out where we were and where we were headed
  5. We just finished another great meal in Murano. We had our usual lobster bisque and tomato salad for apps, followed by chateaubriand for two with murano lobster. We were both too full for dessert but I did indulge in a few glasses of my favourite Cattier champagne 🍾 IMG_2109.mov
  6. Great pics! Did you see the windmills in the ocean last night as well? I was surprised at how far out they were
  7. Yes! This is why we decided to do this cruise this year
  8. I thought I saved it, but I didn’t. Sorry! basically I folded the pair of jeans in half (pantleg to pantleg) then in half again. Then did the same with the other pants and placed them on top of each other on the bed. Then I folded the shirts so they fit on top of the pants, then placed our undergarments flat on top of the pile then did the same with our socks (left the socks flat vs folding them together in pairs). Once everything was in a pile, I flattened it and rolled from the bottom pair of jeans and stuffed the roll into the laundry bag. There was still lots of room along the sides and top, if we had more items to send out. Hopefully this is a good enough explanation 😉
  9. We have two booked with celebrity and one directly with a cruise company from stavenger. We didn’t prebook olden because we want to do the sky lift, but only if the weather cooperates and we plan on either doing our own walking tour with gpsmycity or the hop on hop off bus in Oslo
  10. After having some al bacio in our cabin this morning we went up to the buffet for breakfast. I had my normal eggs benedict with bacon accompanied by a strong mimosa and the hubs had a made to order omelette along with some fresh carved ham. We then made our way down to the theatre to watch 10 things you didn’t know about pop music with cruise director Eddy. It was really good, but the love & soul duo stole the show with their rendition of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. Before the cruise we had purchased a wash and fold package and sent away a good deal of clothing in our provided cloth laundry bag. I had watched a tiktok video that showed how to lay out your clothes on the bed on top of each other then roll them tightly together before shoving everything into the bag. We fit 1 pair of jeans, 2 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, 9 pairs of undergarments and 10 pairs of socks and still had plenty of room in our bag. The sea is still like glass and we’re sitting in the hideaway enjoying some quiet time before we head back to the theatre for a beyond the podium presentation and then music trivia
  11. We spent a few hours cruising down a canal towards the north sea yesterday and got to experience going through a lock as well. So far, the sea has been super smooth. Fingers crossed that she stays like this for the duration of our cruise!
  12. We took the subway from our hotel over to central station then enjoyed a leisurely 10 minute walk along the canal to the port. The embarkation went smoothly and was very quick, much like embarking in Fort Lauderdale or Miami. The only difference was that we walked into the terminal to drop off our luggage instead of handing it over to a porter curbside. Total time from entering the terminal til getting to our room was under 15 minutes. (My favourite and only aisle I want to walk down again!) We also noted that yesterday didn’t seem as hectic around the ship as our previous sailings in the Caribbean (which is a good thing!) No crowding at the Martini bar all afternoon. No lineup to book our specialty dining reservations or to get into the mdr at 6pm. Plenty of seats available in all the bars after dinner. The busiest spot was the ovc during lunch, but that is completely expected on the first day. We did take note of these signs on each table 👍
  13. Pics from Brussels and Amsterdam grand place entrance to an alleyway bar peeing boy statue shopping plaza canal at sunset our hotel in de pijp - sir albert
  14. Come along with us as we visit Haugesund, Olden, Alesund, Stavenger & Oslo Norway onboard the Silhouette! This my spouse’s 50th birthday trip. We flew from Toronto to Brussels on April 30th and spent two nights in Brussels, then took the train to Amsterdam for another two nights before boarding the ship yesterday. Brussels was fun, but it is a one and done for us, but we’ll definitely be coming back to spend more time in Amsterdam! We loved the beauty of the canals and homes lining them and their tram and subway systems are top notch. We found some great spots by just hopping on a tram, not knowing where we’d end up and just getting off when we saw something we thought looked interesting.
  15. I can let you know in a few days as we have this excursion booked. I’m 90% sure it’ll be an enclosed sight seeing boat, as I didn’t want any rib boat excursions when I booked it several months ago 🥶
  16. Thanks for this tip! I love vodka and soda water with real lime juice! The lime syrup or concentrate mix is 💩
  17. Looking forward to seeing what was done to the Constellation during her dry dock (especially the cabins)! We’ve been looking at booking a 2025 cruise on her
  18. Hope you have a smooth crossing! We’re boarding her after you disembark in Amsterdam on May 5th
  19. You should be getting them soon. I received our cruise docs via email on April 8th for our May 5th cruise. They were available on my account (along with our luggage tags) on the celebrity website a few days before I got the email
  20. After calling, emailing, and calling again for missing points, I finally got our missing points by reaching out to celebrity using facebook messenger. I got a response the same day I messaged them saying they’d look into it and four days later, the points were credited along with a follow up message from them.
  21. €111eur is approx $120usd. If this price is for a cruise out of England or Australia the € price includes the auto gratuity of 20%, that equals out to $100usd + grat
  22. If you have the classic drink package: no If you have the premium drink package: yes
  23. Wow! Different stories are being told about the two power outages. Over on a different site, passengers onboard posted that each power outage was less than 15 minutes, yet you experienced it for two+ hours! They have also posted that the 2nd outage was to done to take the ship off its generators and put it back online to its normal power sources. Hopefully you can find some joy on the ‘rust bucket’ for the rest of your cruise
  24. We love our drink caddy!! Sooo convenient (But we got a four cup holder so we can put our al bacio treats in it too 😉)
