  1. Even the wine seems crazily priced though - the 7 bottles package which I was looking at (1 per night) was working out to something like 36 dollars per bottle! And buying this online is supposedly cheaper than on the night.

I know! We actually had the waiter give us a bottle of an expensive wine the last cruise! Of course he was tipped very nicely. We looked at the wine packages and decided we could buy a couple of nice bottles then take the left overs to our room if we desired. We usually eat at a specialty place one time but will see, I don't have to have that if the service is good in the dining room. I really prefer to spend my money on something lasting much longer and making me feel better, not worse!:p

  2. Hi just another thought about Drink, if you are cruising in the Med they add 10% Spanish waters tax to drinks too so add 25% to the cost of a drink - it adds up

So is this only if you are sailing from Spain or to Spain? We will be Rome, Crete, Greece, Turkey, etc but never Spain. So we won't have this tax?

We figure the MOST we ever spent and felt we had all we wanted to drink the tab for 7 days for both of us was less than $400. This amount is excessive for us. We will probably buy a bottle or 2 of wine for dinner, then add the gatherings with some free drinks plus a few of our own, then we will be good. I personally am not fond of paying to feel bad the next day or to be ill. ;)

  3. Darn it, read the first 5 pages of this thread then gave up. Was fun until it turned into a fight on who has manners & how to download an app to your iphone  Grrr. Gonna try to read the pages from here back wards with the hope that I can get the information this thread is suppose to be about. "RCI Secrets they don't tell you" If you want to start a post about the app or Winjammer manners go for it! BonVoyage Dawna

:o oops! I didn't read all of the posts before saying I could not get it either! LOL. Too funny! ;)

  4. Could you please explain how you were able to access the deck plans with your phone in airplane mode? I downloaded the RCI ap and found the plans, but I cannot get them to stay in my phones memory for use off line. Or maybe you are referring to a different application? Thanks.

Agree that unless you have some way of saving them (non that I see) you are not able to use some applications. Mine said the network or wifi was not available. Printing them from RCI web site probably the best idea. We have purchased the out of country package and there is no charge when using wifi, just phone calls based on country. Text cost so much per text also. ;)

  5. My allergy used to be contact. Now with repeat exposure it is airbourn. One open Strawberry kiwi juice or a cut open kiwi in the building can cause me to go into anaphalaxis shock. I carry up to two epi's at all times and have 2 extra everywhere I go. Once the proteins are exposed to the air. My body is able to recognize it at once.

I can't go into tire stores, furniture stores because they spray the furniture with latex to keep it clean. I have to order my fruits and vegetables from a garden share that is delivered once a week.

This allegry is really hard to avoid. I can't buy meats in the meat deptment unless they are wrapped in paper as the wrappers contain latex and the pads on the bottom of the meat container have latex.

I spent several years as an allergy nurse. I personally would not want to be the cruise nurse if you had anaphalaxis shock on a ship at sea. I have had one particular incident in a clinic where I had to call & run a code. It would be in your best interest to speak with your specialist who is overseeing your care for their advise and not advise on this board.

  6. You can usually get Crown Plaza at Priceline for $69. I don't like that way and stay at the Holiday Inn in San Pedro for under $100. They have a park and stay but I do not know the price since I did not use them. They will take you to the pier and pick you up. Your car is kept in covered parking. I really like staying there as it is a smaller hotel. The staff is friendly. They have a restraunt that is above average for a good price. I am a priority club member and last time asked for a Gaffey street side room. We got a 2 bedroom suite that was wonderful and walked out on to the balcony wrapped around the hotel. You have Rite Aid to the south if you need something. We will stay ther again.:D
