  1. There are "strong" feelings from many here on CC. When you arrive on the ship there are many times some deals and some "free" services offered. One of the things that happens most is after the spa treatments. The service people will apply some intense sales pitch to try to sell products. I personally am able to say no and not buy. I have been pressured past being able to say no, then I use my skin allergy which is true. Just dislike having to revert to the allergy when no should be enough. The spa is a great couples option! Just do what is right for you! :)

  2. Next NOS cruise will be in Belize in December. Been there before and just stayed local. This time we are thinking of doing something and will be with friends. I have been out to Trip Advisor. The zoo gets rave reviews. You can access the reviews here:

I found two places that do tours.

Tuff N Nuff which appears to be in San Pedro. Not sure how far that is from where we will tender on RCI

  3. No more money as the prepaid gratuities are the same as the recommended levels. Just paid in advance with final payment. Only makes a value difference if you do not intend to pay the recommended level.

I already pay my cruise ahead of time and my excursions to them if I book with them. Then to pay my gratuities also, just doesn't feel right to me. They have my money in their account to draw interest. I am sure they don't pay the interest to the employee. Just my own thought.

  4. I am D+ and signed up for the MLife benefits this past October at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. I did not get any upfront comps at all with the exception of a 20% discount on the room rate for being D+. We stayed 5 nights and on the 4th night I went to the MLife desk to see what additional comps I earned and was able to have our entire 5 night stay and all meals comps. I am a slot player so that had a lot to do with me getting the room and meals comps.

This is exactly the answer. Unless you are putting money in the slots, there isn't much in way of comps.

There are several strings out here about M Life on the Cruise. My understanding is you have to take your proof of your M Life to the Casino who verifies the account. You could get a meal or so free but only if you did not use any other benefit booking your cruise.

  5. I would call them directly & ask. I've seen groups of people sitting in the dining areas when I'm walking by those windows going to muster... so I assume there's some exceptions to it being "mandatory".

Actually we have had our muster be a dining room. Definitely nice but a Muster none the less. We had to be present and listen to what they had to say!

  6. We did the Lamanai Ruins and river tour through Royal Caribbean. I highly recommend it. Considering how far away the ruins are from where our ship was docked, I never considered going with an independent vendor.

Our bus, along with others from our ship, was nearly an hour late getting back to our ship, due to heavy traffic. We didn't worry about the ship leaving without us since we were on a cruise line sponsored tour.

Sorry I can't help with your other questions.

    Happy cruising!

Thank You! I was thinking using RCI as I have heard some stories from places and this is one. I am more than game to use independent except some places. Thinking we will use RCI since you are not docked and the trip is not easy to/from the shore.

  7. We booked with Bodden in March of 2011. Loved how we could actually go where ever we wanted. They do have some preferred beaches where we paid $5 to get in and got a free lounger with a free drink. I personally enjoyed the zipline and petting zoo area. We did some shopping and had lunch at a local place recommended by the driver. Enjoy!

  8. There are prices on the package buttons. There is Fun Day Package which gets you zipline or snorkeling with food, etc for $148.00. I will be excited to hear your review. We have done Victor Bodden and loved it. This would give ma a new zipline! :D

  9. We have traveled the US, Europe, Mexico and Caribbean but invariably the issue happens more when we are home. I have been scammed online by an accidental press of a button, had my debit card scammed at the gas station where they charged $99 X 2 and the debit card company stopped the third charge at a Walmart in TX, not AZ where I live/work. My husband is diligent with our accounts. Capital has been great to work with, even overnighting a card. The worse was having our checking account scammed with a $24.99 "check". We had to close our account (lost all our history, and reopen, set up new withdrawals, etc. This was 10 days before Europe. My DH was a mess about that one.

Stuff happens, we have to stay aware. Get metal containers to carry your cards so they can't walk by you and steel the info. Watch your accounts, have alerts set up and don't be afraid to call your companies. My BIL was scammed by an American Express employee in NY who changed his address, ordered new cards and spent thousands before they knew it happened. No cost to BIL.

It happens, that is life. Just a part of the game these days, though it isn't fun.

  10. Suggest you check out the roll call at:

    http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1659756&page=7

This will answer a lot of questions.

Doors are metal. Free coffee (not Starbucks), tea, water, lemonade. Soda package is just that but one has water included. There have been some changes. Perhaps your roll call can answer what Enchantment has.

You should take time to look through CC as there is LOTS of great information. Sorry you just found it. Relax take more money than clothes! :D

  11. Welcome to CC, RCI and cruising! Best vacation values according to my DH. I concur the drink packages are on the longer cruise.

Don't over pack clothes and take more money. Use the compass to decide what you want to do the next day. Use this as an opportunity to try foods you might never try at home. They will give you more than one entrée, dessert, etc!

I want to get on early so the vacation can begin and dislike when I have to get off early to end the vacation! Enjoy and check back so we know you had a great time!

  12. Actually norovirus is VERY contagious and not just on a cruise ship. On the cruise ship you have the help of the CDC tracking these numbers. You also have them making sure it is cleaned up. I haven't heard about resorts or other places in a long time. That is where I got mine and I got nothing. It was a company event and I got nothing

You can follow the CDC here:

    http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/vsp/surv/gilist.htm

  13. We fly Southwest all the time and they have never lost our bags.

Actually we have had Southwest loose our luggage. We were flying in a day early to Houston. Originally a direct flight but that changed to a stop in Albuquerque. Arrive in Houston and wait and wait and wait for our luggage. Finally they tell us it must have gotten off accidently in Albuquerque along with others. We had a limo to our hotel in Galveston. Our luggage arrived about 11 that night. Turned out okay for us.

Our last cruise in the Mediterranean had several with lost luggage and having to wear logo clothes. There is no fool proof trip!

  14. When I first started cruising we went to a Park West auction and we won a poster in the raffle. They wanted $35 to ship it in one of those cardboard tubes. I said no thanks.

$35 was probably a deal. We just shipped a tube to a granddaughter with some unframed art we have collected. The tube was a cost and the shipping. By the time we insured it, the cost was more than $35.

  15. Congratulations on the loss, never a bad thing! 3 years ago my DH and I went on the zipline at Victor Bodden Tours. There were no scales and my DH at the time was more than a little overweight. Not only that but he has a terrible fear of heights and had to be shoved off. They were kind and accommodating. May not be so much now after he was there! ;) I have not read where they have added a scale!

  16. I sailed in January, and got the free dinner and drinks...

    jc

Did you have your card in hand or the print out with you? Most have not been able to get the balcony discount and MLife. Just saying that is what they are reporting. If you get both, then lucky! ;)

  17. We have another thread and from it was determined RCI will not give you MLife benefits if you used your RCI benefits. Well for me, even as Gold MLife find it is better to go with RCI.

My DS and I went to Vegas last month. Stayed at the Mirage. She gambled quite a bit and came out at least ahead. I gambled some, nothing much over a couple hundred. We ate in the hotel a couple of times, etc. When we checked out, stopped by the desk and we had NOTHING comp for our stay.

You have only MLife at their locations and RCI basically has only RCI benefits unless you don't have any. Not an issue to me and the MLife is a nice perk to cut a line! :D
