We booked on NCL Breakaway in January 2019 for a September 2019 Caribbean cruise. On May 22 there was a price drop of $460 per person. Final payment was not due until May 25th. I attempted to contact NCL and was on hold for nearly an hour. The recording stated there were longer than normal wait times. Had to hang up. Called back later and was on hold for 45 more minutes. I couldn't stay on hold so I found the price protection claim form on the NCL site and completed it. Got a confirmation email saying they'd be in touch and requests were handled in the order received. Tried calling a few times and had the same issue with being on hold for long periods of time. Finally got through on August 12. Was told that if I had spoken to someone prior to May 25 I would have gotten a full refund of the difference and that if it was worth it to me I would have stayed on hold for as long as was necessary. Was told the online form I filled out basically went nowhere and was the wrong thing to have done. Not sure how I would have known this! It was the "too bad so sad" routine. Since then I have emailed them through their online "pre cruise issue" customer service form twice. Have been assigned 2 case numbers. NO call back, no response whatsoever. This is crazy that I'm being denied any kind of help for missing out on a $920 refund because their hold times are really long. Any advice?

In three days you couldn't find the time to stay on hold for almost $1000 price difference? (From May 22-25)? Why did you make the final payment without resolving the issue? Why now 3 months later are you complaining? You should have called and kept calling-

Understand the frustration but this seems to be your fault. We are all busy but if it was that important you could have found time

We just returned from our Freedom cruise, and we booked a private tour through Victor Bodden, despite what was posted above.  I remembered this thread when we were introduced to Kenny as being our guide for the day.  Not sure if there is more than 1 Kenny working for Bodden, but Kenny was not out of our site for the entire day except for when he went somewhere on our tour to take care of something that we requested.  At the monkey and sloth exhibit, he was outside the front door the entire time were there.  I would absolutely use Bodden again on a return trip to Roatan.

When Kenny was recommended to us by a fellow cruiser I was told to ask for Young Kenny. I just assumed there were two. I’m glad you had a good experience with Bodden but I stand behind my post about being stranded more than once. Maybe since Victor said he was suspending Kenny without pay after our issues, he learned how to properly do tours.

I've never used Boden, but for every bad review there are at least 10 saying how great he is. The OP should read many reviews about Boden, not just one before making a decision.

Yes that is true- but others posted their experiences there also. My experience was less than two months ago so fairly recently. OP can make decisions on their own but deserves to see good and negative reviews. Then base decision on that.

So if a family had 2 parents ( in the Haven cabin) and 3 kids in the adjoining stateroom, they wouldn't ALL get to do things Haven related? How silly is that? There must be some way that NCL makes allowences or charges for this. Has anyone done this?

Why should they make allowances? There are cabins big enough in the Haven proper to accommodate your family. As PP said imagine if everyone did this- the Haven has limited space and it would be too crowded.

  5. We were in Breakaway Haven in May. We had specialty dining and prebooked . I tried to change one reservation and it wasn’t easy- took a day for them to get us in. Just because you’re in the Haven doesn’t mean things that aren’t there magically can appear. I’d definitely book restaurants then if times need tweaking see what they can do. I wouldn’t not book anything thinking I’m in the Haven so I don’t have to - I can get in whenever I want to wherever I want.

Where is you go to place for sail away?  We are in the Haven, does that matter?

We were in the Haven on Breakaway our of Miami in May. We went to the Haven sundeck and there were only 8 people up there- the smoking section is at the front but nobody there was smoking. There was a pool attendant who brought us drinks. I attached a couple pictures I took from there .

Thank you for the review.  My mom and I are taking our annual cruise together and will be on Breakaway in two weeks.  She doesn't know it yet, but I upgraded us to an H7.  I love the Haven and wanted her to experience it too.  My question is about Margaritaville on embarkation day.  DH and I were on Breakaway back in November in an H5 and Margaritaville was not offered as complimentary for Haven guests at that time.  We were told that complimentary embarkation day lunch in Margaritaville was no longer a perk for Haven guests.  Have they reversed this?  It would be nice to have lunch there on embarkation day but I'm not going to pay extra for it since we can get that any time at home.  Again, thank you!

From what I read here prior to our cruise Margaritaville is sometimes open on embarkation day. For our cruise once in the Haven lounge they stated Margaritaville was open. Hopefully it will be open for you! Enjoy the cruise and know your mom will be thrilled in Haven!

Not sure which is more sad - that you told off a 4 year old or that you bragged about it on a message board. Not sure how that has anything to do with a review of a cruise either.

Also, are you petulant toward the workers at Cagneys or do “they work so hard”? Because it’s hard to take you seriously when you try to act empathetic towards the workers, but in the same review act like a baby over your steak.

Hope your 22 and 23 year olds had fun though! Family of 4 coming through! I hope they didn’t cut in line.

I posted about the 4 year old because obviously the parents don’t care what their unsupervised child did. Seeing him cut in front of others over and over (yes cutting in front of kids). I said something and don’t feel bad. He needs to learn. Agree with PP that maybe it was your kid! Not fair to anyone for this child to do. My kids always learned to wait their turn thank you for asking! Never an issue- when they were young.

Why should I eat a cold steak-? The first one was cold. Second one to be medium well and was medium rare- I expect it to be cooked properly. Everyone else in my party was. I didn’t act like a baby- just sent back and said no thank you to third one. If you want to eat undercooked or cold food that is on you. I don’t need to nor should I have to.

I don’t understand pulling up a weeks old post with no replies to attack me. Maybe you if you don’t like my Breakaway review Carnival might be a better for you.

nice review....did you review all the ports?

I had planned on doing the ruins or something more “fun” but I was in a walking boot as I have a partial Achilles’ tendon tear (surgery tomorrow).

Roatan- did Victor Bodden private tour independently. I posted lengthy review in Caribbean port thread. Do not recommend.

Harvest Caye- we just used OBC and paddle boarded. Stayed on beach- relaxing day. ( I sat on paddle board). Hubby and sons enjoyed.

Costa Maya- just got off ship and shopped (will say Cozumel much cheaper!).

Cozumel- shopped and ate at Cafe Denis on recommendation of Rodrigo (Haven bartender who we saw there).

We we enjoyed the ports but prefer Eastern Caribbean. Sorry not to exciting reviews on ports!
