Hello! I’m new to Carnival and have booked Horizon for May 21st. Are there any not to be missed shows or entertainment and do I need to make reservations right away when I board like on Royal? Also, I’ve heard the elevators are weird on this ship-can someone please explain how they work? Thanks!

For upcoming Horizon cruise out of Miami, if I have FTTF and an embarkation time of 10:30, when can I expect to be boarding the ship? Can I arrive earlier than 10:30, or would that just make me have to wait longer? Thanks!

How do you take advantage of FTTF at a tender port? Is there a separate line or place to go meet to be escorted to the tenders?

Yes, us too! No more checking huge bags with the porters. I’m new to Carnival and just bought FTTF for our upcoming Horizon cruise…hoping it works like a charm for luggage drop off!

Thanks for your replies. I’d definitely cruise solo before losing 75% of my cruise fare. And thank you @Schoifmom for informing me about the “do not cancel” rule. Does anyone know how late I could replace him with another cruiser, and if there is a fee for that?

Hello, Everyone! I’m booked on Horizon for May 21st sailing with my husband for our anniversary. I’m new to Carnival-usually sail on RCL, but am trying to branch out more, so I’m not very familiar with Carnival cancellation policies and I did not purchase insurance this time. My husband was just informed that he may not get his requested time off from work as some new big computery (fake word, I know!) deadline is looming for the end of May that he may need to be a part of. Like RCL, if neither one of us go, is the whole amount forfeit? Could I request a cancellation and put the money on a future cruise with some kind of penalty? Could I switch him with a different passenger? He is a software engineer-is the internet capability on this ship good enough to program remotely? Please explain my options. Thanks!

Hello, all! New to carnival (been on Ecstasy last year) and looking for suggestions for yummy embarkation lunch on Horizon for hubs and me. We will have small carry~on duffles with us until rooms open up. Cruising in May in Cloud 9 spa balcony. Where do you like to lunch and get your first beverage? Also, any other Horizon tips would be great! TIA!

Thanks for the info! I’m on deck 12 port forward and I see that the deck 11 smoking area is on starboard aft-so shouldn’t be an issue…whew! 😁

Where are the smoking areas on Horizon and what cabin were you in that was bad? I booked a cloud 9 balcony on deck 12 for our anniversary and this smoking issue isn’t even anything I thought of!

I work in Mobile and did one of the last cruises on Ecstasy last September. You are correct. Big parking garage with a weird way to pay. You have to scan a QR code and do an app and pay before you get on the ship. Make sure to get there early enough to get a spot in the garage as the overflow parking is definitely sketch.

I mostly cruise Royal and recently tried out Carnival and was pleasantly surprised…and it was on an older ship. If you get a good price, just lower your expectations a bit and don’t expect HAL service and I think you could enjoy yourself.

So, that’s where everyone went! I was wondering why the ship felt half empty…

Just off Independence with a teen on the pullout couch. We weren’t sure how this would work either since we requested evening service. The first morning I ended up putting the bed back to a couch myself, because I didn’t think to ask our attendant about it. He came in the evening to put it back as a bed. Next morning we left if as a bed and when we returned from cococay it was back to a couch…then he put it back to a bed during dinner and of course cleaned the whole room at that time, too. So, I’m guessing that he probably would have done it anyway-but as others suggested, just ask! I also asked for more towels up front as 2 showers are sometimes required and I have long hair. Hope this helped-
