  1. Has anyone tried to do this? The rules don’t really specify as far as I can see. They just say you can’t bring alcohol except for the bottle of wine, and that you can bring a 12 pack of soda/water. And if not, what NA beers do they have on board? Thx-
  2. We booked a Cloud 9 spa cabin for our upcoming cruise on Horizon…what is the best time to go to the thermal suite to avoid the crowds?
  3. The boarding time is whatever time zone the ship is embarking in.
  4. I think the bionic bar is a total waste of space. I wish they’d repurpose it to some new interesting bar-like a Fat Tuesday type of daiquiri bar ,a mojito bar, or a craft beer bar.
  5. I’m sad to say that I used safe sea on my last cruise and it did not prevent me getting stung by whatever stray stinging strands that were floating around in the water, even though no visible jelly fish were around and no purple flag flying. My husband and son were perfectly fine, but I swear, they find me whatever ocean I’m in! I wish for a solution, too!
  6. I booked a spa balcony for our anniversary in May and really looking forward to using the thermal spa area. Do you recall what the hours were? We mostly sail on Royal and are looking forward to trying something different! I agree with what the OP said, though-there has been a lot of negativity in regards to food and other things. But an FYI to everyone on the Carnival boards-it’s the same or possibly even worse over on the Royal forum. I guess I’m just not that picky and can always find something I like to eat, drink, or do on a cruise.
  7. I’m feeling lucky and would be willing to take your cruise off your hands…😂
  8. Does the benefit still apply on a 3-nighter? Also, the welcome bottle of wine and 2 days of Wi-Fi pp?
  9. I get that. However, It wasn’t the concierge, it was a fellow passenger.
  10. I believe the dress code is exactly the same as the main dining rooms at this point-no swimwear, but just about anything else goes. There are still may peeps there though, that will give you the disapproving look if men wear shorts and almost always if a kid is spotted…just, FYI. Quite a few old school DL ridiculous snobbery still abounds. Last year, my 16 year old son, who by his own right is Diamond (but D+ because of me), came in to get some evening apps. We were already in there having a drink. He not only got disapproving looks, but some man actually said to him,” I thought only D+ and Pinns are allowed in here.” My son said to him, “Diamond members are also allowed, but I am D+, Bro!” 😂
  11. Thanks @kirtihkfor allowing me to learn a new word today…embrocate! I think I’ll start using it in my everyday language 😊
  12. Well, whatever you do, don’t go climbing about in those ruins! Yikes @DaKahuna! I hope your owy is doing ok…
  13. Why, you say? Because this is cruisecritic and there is nothing more that we love to do as sit around all day and chat about tipping, smoking, chair hogging and bad food. In fact this thread makes me so happy because it feels like it did before the pandemic and makes me feel normal again. I think I’ll go and start a new thread about smuggling alcohol! 😁
  14. Oops! Thanks for the correction! I must be thinking of the FPL survey, lol!
  15. No, you are correct! The Diamond concierge literally used to do this! I know because my husband was asked to go and change when he was wearing shorts. Of course, that was quite a while ago. They used to not allow children in there either. When we first became Diamond we took my son in there who was maybe 6 and a well behaved little fellow and were told he’s not allowed in the Diamond Lounge. I think this was on Indy, so the concierge allowed us in to get the appetizers and order drinks and then directed us to that little adjacent outside area to sit and await our drinks. Kinda made me feel like a second class citizen, but those were the rules at the time. And I’m sure this opens up a whole other can of worms in regards to children in the Diamond Lounge, 😂
  16. I recommend getting a drink at a bar before hand and bringing it with you as I personally think the drink service in the main dining room is slow as molasses. And don’t forget, you can each bring a bottle of wine on board, too. We like to ask our room steward to supply us with wine glasses each evening so we have that option as well.
  17. I’m not sure how I feel about this, as we are a family of three and always have need of the pull out couch for a bed. On one hand, I am liking the once a day evening service while we are at dinner as we usually do our showering directly before dinner, not in the am. Also, it does seem like inevitably, when we come back to our room after exercising and walking, ready to throw on our pool attire, the steward is in our room cleaning. But…I really don’t want the couch to be a bed all day, either. I’ve never even thought about trying to put it back together myself and really don’t want to. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to ask the steward to come in and at least do that in AM and then have the full service in PM…while handing him/her a $20 😁
  18. On my last 3 cruises on Oasis class last year-yes, they do! We sat in them. You have to get there before they release the seats to everyone else. I think 15 minutes before showtime is when they do that. They are near the center, top and there is usually a crew member holding a sign.
  19. We usually do the autogratuities and then give extra to the cabin steward, waiter and assistant waiter at the end….If they did a great job. If not, just the autograts. We had a cruise last year where the Waiter was terrible, the assistant waiter was person non grata and then the waiter had the nerve to come and ask for 5’s on the survey the last night. I did not tip extra and I considered removing the autograt it was so bad…but I didn’t. Maybe they just were off for that week? I did not give a good review, tho. I agree that $20 per night is over the top and your tipping is more than generous.
