  1. I'm booked on the one in the Med.  Even though I've been to these ports, the email was intriguing about the special events.

I'm thinking it must be based on number of days because the friend I usually travel with did not get the email even though she's been on several SS cruises.  I have 200+ days and did get the email.  In any event, the two of us are going as well as two other friends who will be going on their first SS cruise.

  2. My TA told me yesterday that SS told her my 7/27 Rome-Venice is still scheduled even though it is shown as waitlisted.  They plan to sail at a reduced capacity.  More info on 4/15 so I'll just wait to see what happens.

  3. I agree with TxnAquarian.  I was a Regent person until they started including excursions.  I do sometimes take the ship's excursion, but I also like to make my own or just walk around.  I understand doing the ship sponsored excursions during COVID but hopefully we will be passed that by  2022/2023.

Also, wasn't there a survey from SS several years ago, asking if they should include excursions and it seemed like most people said no.

  4. My 2 cruises on the Whisper in November were cancelled.  According to the email I received "A Future Cruise Credit valued at 110% of the total booking amount to be used to reserve a cruise....for all open sailings."  I'm taking the "15% savings on any new cruise date when booking before 9/30/21" since I know which cruise I want.

    I'm disappointed but not surprised.

Quoting from email dated 9/17/2020 from Barbara Muckerman:  "15% savings on any new cruise date, when booking before 30 September 2020."

  6. Re: WC 2021:  I am on b2b on the Whisper 11/10-29/2020.  As of now it is sailing.  I assume to prepare for the WC in January.  Waiting to see if it goes or if it's cancelled.  The good thing is that the 11/10 cruise is the first one so we'll be the first passengers on it.

SS is anxious to get a few ships in the water to test their new protocols and show they are safe for passengers.  As such, the Whisper could be the first vessel to sail from US waters.  Of course, if she sails and you get on board, then you’ll just have to add hurricanes to your watch list.  😆 But, you know that better than most based on your long cruising history throughout the Caribbean.

Thanks, Stumble.  Yes I have spent numerous Thanksgivings cruising around the Caribbean, including last year and hopefully this year.  With the Whisper holding a max of 388 and as of last Wednesday having quite a few empty suites, I have fingers, toes and eyes crossed that it's a go.

  8. Thanks for your replies.

0 on the Shadow is amazing.  The SS web site shows no reduced single supp so I'm sure people jumped on that cruise as soon as anyone saw 0.

I would take the Moon at 50%.  I've asked my TA to check into these two cruises.

A friend and I were booked on a Regent cruise in April which we have decided to cancel and hopefully find a Silversea one.  BUT I would have to talk the friend into doing a crossing.  She gets easily seasick!!

  9. I just looked at this cruise for next March and it's not showing a reduced single supplement.  TA's are usually at +25% or even +10%.  Do you think this is because of COVID?  I'd love to take this cruise but times 2 makes it very pricey.  The Shadow is not showing a reduced single supplement either.

However, when I looked at an on line cruise website, both cruises were at a reduced rate.  The same site shows the Seabourn Quest with a reduced single supplement.

  10. Thanks for the responses.  I've sailed quite a bit with other friends in separate suites and always make a reservation for all of us.  And I always complete the section about traveling with others.  Hopefully that will work with the new guidelines in place.  I'll certainly give it a try!

  11. I read a post somewhere that said if you were making dinner reservations, they could only include people in the same suite.  I'm on the Whisper in November with two friends and we all have our own suite.  So we can't have dinner together?

  12. Even though I cancelled my June cruise and don't have another one booked until next July, a friend and I were discussing how the buffets will be handled once sailing starts again.

    Any thoughts?
