  1. On the deck plan on the web site, it doesn't look like there are chairs on the sun deck just aft of the cabanas. Are there? I wouldn't mind being out there in the sun for a little bit while my friend could enjoy the shade in the cabana.

  2. Thanks to all of you. I just had my TA book one for the entire 10 days at a cost of $500. I think the pix from Jim and Stan was what sold us. Very similar to what we've had on HAL and the service is similar too. We weren't planning to spend much time at the ports because we've been to all of them so the cabana will be wonderful. Can't wait!

  3. A friend and I are booked on our first Oceania cruise on the Regatta in November. What are the cabanas that are at the front of deck 11? We've been on the Eurodam and Nieuw Amsterdam on HAL where you can rent your own private cabana. But I haven't seen any mention of that for the Regatta.

  4. Great review, Ernie. I agree with you about the weather. I don't think I've ever been on a Caribbean cruise that was as rainy and cloudy as it was last week. Yes, it was a bit rough but it didn't bother me and I kind of liked being rocked to sleep.

The crew was all smiles and always spoke, no matter how low on the totem pole they might have been.

My ice bucket and tray were never taken away but the ice was put in the champagne bucket every day and the "ice" bucket was left empty.

My 2 friends and I had a family cabana in the Cabana Club for the entire week and it was, in our opinion, the best part of the cruise. Even when it was cloudy and/or rainy, we still used it.

The disembarkation was the smoothest I have ever experienced on ANY ship.

We were on the Eurodam last year and booked the Eurodam for next November. We don't want to give up Pinnacle, Tamarind or Cabana Club!!

  5. lvdave -- What a deal! I'm doing a TA on 3/22/10 for 10 days on Regent, Ft. Lauderdale to Funchal. Since Regent is all inclusive, including air, I'm paying $3,544 and I thought that was a steal! If it wasn't just 18 days away, I would consider cancelling and changing to Azamara. It seems like the only thing not included on Azamara is alcohol!!

    Have a great time!

  6. Friends and I just returned from 12 days on the Oosterdam and used Romeinlimo in Naples for the Amalfi Coast and in Rome. Eugene was our driver in Naples and he was great. There were 8 of us in a van and he was very accommodating, funny, and informative. My friends and I had Marco for our driver in Rome and he was awesome. We are not into spending a lot of time in old ruins so he took us thru residential areas, quiet parks, overviews of the city. We wanted to go shopping so he pointed us in the the direction of the upscale shops and met us in an hour or so. He took us anyplace we wanted to go. We did not use a Vatican guide since we only went thru the Vatican museum and the Sistine Chapel.

I would highly recommend Romeinlimo and would definitely use them again if I find myself in Italy again. We were so happy that we booked with them and did not do the bus tours offered by the cruise line. Much more personalized!

  7. Copper10-8: Thanks so much for the pix of the Song of America. That was my first cruise in September 1979 with my mother. We left Miami and sailed to St. Thomas and San Juan. We missed one stop (maybe Haiti) because it has just been hit by Hurricane David. Don't know if I got "hooked" on my first cruise because my next one was 11 years later, but I certainly am now!
